Muupüchi - Silatuyok - April 05, 2025

silatuyok walks beside the male, her steps firm and sure despite the quiet within her. nova peak rises before them, its jagged cliffs like teeth against the sky. the air is thin here, the scent of pine heavy, and the whisper of the ancestors lingers, as always. her fur brushes against the chill wind, and she takes a deep breath, feeling the weight of the place settle around her.
she pauses at the base of the peak, letting her amber eyes scan the familiar terrain. it’s not yet time to disturb ayovi, not with the weight of her labor looming near. silatuyok calls for @Skorpa instead, her voice carrying in the still air, steady and composed. she does not need to speak loudly, for her presence here is known, and the mountain’s echoes carry her summons to him.

let @Abydos post first perhaps!

thanks for starting this!!! <3

abydos walks in silence beside her; quiet and contemplative. every once in a while his gaze strays from the path to her, taking her in. she is hard for him to read, an enigma that he wants to crack open and follow the threads of until he unraveled her.
his steps come to a halt when they approach the borders, more than familiar with how this works. flashes of the recent-ish past with akashingo play in his mind: but now he is not a gift to be offered. his true nature was shedding itself from the skin he was forced to wear to appease his pharaoh-father; the foretold golden ichor of his bloodline refusing to be quelled. for better or for worse.
he waits as her call rises into the air, carried along by the peak; waiting.

RE: Muupüchi - Skorpa - April 05, 2025

ayovi had gone to ground. skorpa watched her with trepidation and some excitement, biddable and cajoling as always. but for all others it might seem the bearsword wore a perpetual narrowing of suspicious eye.

silatuyok called, but skorpa finished spitting the haunch of caribou on a pinewood skewer before he licked blood from his claws and moved to answer.

the pale woman with the soft voice was given a brusque nod of welcome. her counterpart, a tall man with odd eyes, received skorpa's next closed glance. "you find winsook. i am skorpa. silatuyok have tell you af mountain?"

RE: Muupüchi - Silatuyok - April 05, 2025

silatuyok watches skorpa approach, her tail giving a soft wag in greeting. she is slow as if she’s careful not to be too forward, but the gesture is genuine. she dips her head slightly in respect, then steps back to give the men space, lowering her gaze to the ground as she stands silently. her presence remains quiet, almost fading into the background as she lets them speak.
her eyes flicker briefly to vhagar, noting his watchful gaze, but she remains still, not wanting to interrupt the exchange. she waits for the words to pass between them, her posture open yet subdued, allowing skorpa to take the lead. she feels the weight of their conversation as it moves past her, no need for her voice to fill the air.

RE: Muupüchi - Vhagar - April 05, 2025

a man approaches; draped in a pelage of auburn reds and creams. first impressions were that the man was strong and there was a slight moment of unease at the faint scent of blood and carrion that lingers but it is quick to dissipate from vhagar's chest before it could make its home there.
she told me of it briefly, yes, vhagar replies, letting it skirt to silatuyok before it falls back to the assumed leader of winsook's paws. he does not share that she spoke of spirits calling her there ... unsure if it was personal or not.
i am vhagar, the war-pharaoh offers, settling into the moniker as if it were a second skin. he might not've felt worthy enough to go by the name of aten ... but he felt worthy enough of 'vhagar'. it felt like his proving grounds, leaving him room to grow. into it. beyond it.
i seek a home. the word feels strange, like sandpaper against his throat, silatuyok's words haunting him 'a home is where the heart is'.

RE: Muupüchi - Skorpa - April 05, 2025

"winsook is peace. no leader. you live here, you help. honor spirit. not fight war, here or other war. skilled wolf here in mountain." vhagar might be welcome, and he might not. how he comported himself determined such things.

and, tacitly or otherwise, he deferred to ayovi.

grumpily skorpa wondered if vhagar's search of a home had anything to do with the pale young woman at his side; such was the season for those things, and winsook was home already to a pair of couples.

honey granted permission to skip sila! <3

peace. no leader. honor spirit. no fighting in wars, which vhagar assumes means no starting fights either. it sounds simple enough. though he is unsure how the 'no leader' thing was meant to work. perhaps he was misunderstanding ... and what spirit was he to honor? the god whose golden ichor ( supposedly ) ran through his veins? his own spirit, the ankh burned into his soul that made him a pharaoh-that-was-to-be. or the one that made him a scorned prince? or perhaps none of them at all.
perhaps he was over-analyzing. thinking too much into it when the situation did not call for it.
his gaze moves to silatuyok again before moving back to skorpa.
sounds easy enough to follow.

RE: Muupüchi - Skorpa - April 06, 2025

skorpa grunted. "godt." that part of the questioning thus finished, he gestured to the man. "so. what you do?" a home was well enough, but for the purpose of ranking and his own record, he wished to take an account of skill.

guardians, midwives, hunters, soothsayers; they took their place here or the witch's realm.

and in his mind too, a count adjusting.

skorpa could be well organized when he wished.

RE: Muupüchi - Vhagar - April 06, 2025

now came into the flesh of things: the skills he had to offer. they could be many, but the two that he'd been trained in ... by the palace-den guards and the priestesses will likely get him further in the world outside the oasis. though only some of them translated as far as relevance.
i've been trained by the best guards my birth home had to offer ... and trained in the silver-tongue of diplomacy.

RE: Muupüchi - Skorpa - April 06, 2025

there was appreciation upon the face of winsook's bearsword as vhagar spoke with equal directness. ayovi was the mountain's diplomat, in his mind, but expanding numbers called for it. as did the general nature of the mountain; forgiving but firm in teeth if needed.

"godt. you are welcomed, vhagar." his eyes moved to the pelt-woman in thoughtful expression.  "please, silatuyok — you show mountain?"

ayovi did not need him, but skorpa wished to be close, especially with the air tightening in anticipation around their den.

RE: Muupüchi - Silatuyok - April 06, 2025

silatuyok nods, her expression calm but attentive as she listens to skorpa's request. she does not need to speak many words to show her understanding. with a brief flick of her tail, she motions toward the path leading deeper into the territory, her body language an invitation. yes, she murmurs, her voice soft but clear, follow.

RE: Muupüchi - Vhagar - April 06, 2025

wrapping up with this post. <3

he is accepted in, unaware of the foreign words that skorpa uses that sounds different than the words of silatuyok ... leaving vhagar to ponder how many tongues the wolves of winsook spoke. but he tucks questions away for now and turns his attention to the tour as silatuyok gives it: filing away locations of note.
caches. empty dens. landmarks to help him find his way 'round so he didn't bumble around the territory until he learned it's paths and secrets.
