tsunami - Glaûkos - April 15, 2025 Do a few laps, then we can start. He offered to @Treepie as a means of warming up her body in preparation for her first real lesson. It would be good for Glaukos to see what exactly he was working with, too. The training field was empty except for the two of them; the sky was clear, but there was a wind pulsing around the mountain paths which seemed to collect between the two of them, unseasonably cold and smelling like sea salt. Maybe rain was on the way. While the girl moved to do her warm up, Glaukos waited and watched. RE: tsunami - Treepie - April 16, 2025 Pie nibbled at a persistent and slightly painful itch on her right hip, where she could feel a small lump forming. She wondered what had bitten her, though Glaukos’s command cut into her thoughts. She righted her head, yellow eyes settling on his face as she nodded. She strode to the edge of the clearing, then began to walk around its perimeter. Her pace quickly increased to a trot, then a lope and, finally, a gallop. Her hip twinged a little bit, though Tiuttuk focused mostly on the placement of her feet and the increasingly harsh breaths tearing from her chest. RE: tsunami - Glaûkos - April 17, 2025 She moved decently. Life upon the mountain had probably afforded a certain level of activity, and her body would have been accustomed to the thinner air here. As she ran Glaukos studied her gait, whether she was naturally conserving her energy or if she had a conformation that afforded a greater reach. The way her breath began to heave from her was indication to him to give her a break, but he didn't say anything. He waited until she had run back from the sprint and was before him again. He was still, quiet, and watching. It took less time for her breathing to regulate than he expected, which was a positive sign. Good. You're ready to fight. Glaukos moved to the center of the space, facing Tiuttuk. Now your task is to hit me. If you can land three blows, the game will be over.He wouldn't give her any instruction beyond that, as this was another test—not just for Tiuttuk, but for Glaukos as well. He needed to see what exactly he was working with. If you want to roll dice for this: Roll 1d10 and anything 6+ is a success. Or you could wing it!
RE: tsunami - Treepie - April 17, 2025 I’m too sleepy to bother with math, so I’m gonna wing it! Feel free to use them on your end. And I welcome you to power-play as much as you like. Do whatever makes sense. :)
Her chest began to burn, so Treepie slowed down and aimed for Glaukos. She rolled to a halt in front of him, aware of his assessing looks. Her muscles ticked, a physiological cue that she’d accomplished her warmup. She licked the foam coating her lips and waited to catch her breath. No sooner had that happened than he declared Pie ready to fight. Her yellow eyes tracked him as he moved to the center of the clearing they—mostly he—had made. Glaukos laid down the terms of their sparring exercise. She swiveled as he spoke, squaring off with him from across the open space. He wanted her to try to hit him three times. She didn’t move right away. He made for a very large target, yet he was certainly capable of deflecting any blows. Pie didn’t worry about harming him for that reason. She doubted she could hurt him even if she struck him with all her might. She also knew this was going to be much easier said than done. Finally moving, Tiuttuk began to circle Glaukos, anticipating that he would likely pivot with her. He would see her coming, no matter what she did, so she just needed to go for it. But she continued walking around him for a moment, wondering if it might make him dizzy. She tried to look impassive, though there were probably a few tells when she finally broke the pattern and rushed to whack a paw at his ankles. RE: tsunami - Glaûkos - April 20, 2025 He would treat this like any other spar. The girl was well bred and healthy, and as a mountaineer she had a natural grasp of control over both her breathing and her movement, so as to not fall down the side of the mountain. She was young, though. She held no experience in such things as this; even as a predator, even if she had been a greatly skilled hunter, there was a difference between that and the purposeful intent of combat against another wolf. Some could not turn that aggression on when it mattered. He did not move with Tiuttuk as she began to circle. His remaining ear gave subtle shifts, but that was all. His eyes shifted to his left as she started on that side, and flickered to the right as she circled; but otherwise he merely waited, attentive to her movements without moving to counter until Tiuttuk rushed close. She did not use her teeth as Glaukos might've anticipated—but she made a swipe for his ankle, reminding him of a child trying to start some kind of game. It was easy enough to move aside and avoid the attempt. With a grunt he gives her a dubious look, as if to say — is that it? RE: tsunami - Treepie - April 21, 2025 He easily dodged her bat, though Treepie smiled to herself as she channeled her inner mountain goat. Rather than headbutt him—that might come later—she repeated the movement she’d seen a nanny use on a ram who wouldn’t stop trying to mount her. Leaning most of her weight onto one forepaw, she whirled. When both forelegs were planted again, she kicked out with her hind legs with all her might. Both feet aimed for his throat, though they could just as well hit his jaw or chest and she would be happy—if she managed to land a strike at all. |
