Sweet Cheezus - Amalia - April 21, 2025

Amalia woke with a rolling tummy and the foggiest brain she had ever had. She literally had to pant to keep from throwing up the empty contents of her stomach. And it was late. She looked around blearily. She was so tired.

Unsteady She got on her paws. Her vision swimming and her stomach swooping deep and low. And she was racing on splaying limbs to the edge of the forest. Heaving and then dry heaving. Nothing more to come up and splatter her paws with sick.

She only managed to heave herself to the side. Pressing loose dort over her vomit and thinking longingly of the river not far. But to dizzy to move.

RE: Sweet Cheezus - Towhee - April 21, 2025

I made some assumptions re: Hobbit Hole, so just let me know if I need to make any edits! :)

Towhee snored through Amalia’s rapid exit, though something stirred her a few minutes later. She cracked open an eye, then the other, and raised her head. Neither her grandson nor his mate were anywhere in sight. She yawned, then smacked her lips as she rose from her little nest in the rear of the Hobbit Hole. She began to walk toward the entry, planting her hind legs to stretch out her spine momentarily before stepping outside. She gave herself a bodily shake.

She glanced to her left, then her right, and then sniffed at the wind. It was the acrid smell of vomit that finally flagged Towhee’s attention. Nose wrinkling, she trotted downhill to find Amalia sprawled near a stretch of trees. There was a puddle of vomit nearby, which was nothing alarming. If anything, it was the hallmark of good news. But Amalia looked a lot more out of it than mere morning sickness usually entailed.

Mal? Hey, you okay? the Redhawk said overly loudly, hastening to the woman’s side and nosing at her forehead.

RE: Sweet Cheezus - Amalia - April 23, 2025

looks good to me

Amalia had not wanted to bother anyone. But she sort felt low. This was not the bees knees. But part of her was also elated. She knew enough to know this was potentially a good sign. They still had so much time. So she tried not to get her hopes to high. Not that she could as ghastly as she felt this moment.

A soft whine at the nose to her side. It hurt a little. She panted again and forced herself to lift her head, but her vision swam.

Mmm I'm good. Uh... She made a soft moan and continued. Forcing herself to say the words. Try some of the very little ptero she had learned in the last few days. Just dizzy and real sick, Towhee.

RE: Sweet Cheezus - Towhee - April 23, 2025

She didn’t feel overly warm, so that was good. But as Towhee stepped back to catch Amalia’s words, her lips pulled into a frown. Morning sickness was normal for some expectant mothers, but feeling dizzy wasn’t, was it? And she shouldn’t feel quite so sick, though Towhee supposed there was no way to measure one woman’s nausea against another’s.

I guess staying down and taking it easy is probably for the best. Can I get you anything? she asked, still frowning.

Otherwise, she wouldn’t leave her side for anything. Towhee glanced around, wondering if she should call for Killer. Mal would probably feel better with her mate beside her too, though did they want to worry him? She supposed it was up to Amalia.

RE: Sweet Cheezus - Amalia - April 27, 2025

Amalia could only guess that her age and the fact that this was her first pregnancy, it was affecting her notoriously badly. She wasn't an old maid in any capacity, but she was not a spring chicken either. And well. She supposed thanks nature, here's a big have fun darling.

Can you help me to teh water? Amalia shifted. It was very slow moving. And she had to stop pretty regularly to keep from heaving. Her sides still rolled blatantly a time or two. But she got to her feet.

Honestly, Amalia didn't want Killer near her right now. Despite her love for him, she wasn't feeling very kindly towards him at teh moment. After all he had gotten her into this hadn't he. Granted yes of course it had been her choice too. And she'd get over it in a second, maybe a minute or five.

RE: Sweet Cheezus - Towhee - April 27, 2025

Yeah, of course, Towhee said a touch distractedly. Would you like me to call Killer?

Without waiting for an answer, she gently pushed herself closer to Amalia, offering a shoulder to brace against as she worked her way to her feet. It took some time, yet the Redhawk remained patient. And even if Mal didn’t need to lean on her, she made sure to keep their shoulders pressed close together.

One step at a time, Mal-ma, she quipped, just like a corny grandmother.

RE: Sweet Cheezus - Amalia - April 29, 2025

Amalia huffed. No. I'm not feeling particularly charitable towards him right now. Mind you I'll get over it. But right now I might bite his nose. She made a soft groan.

or puke on his toes one of the two.

Amalia giggled and promptly heaved, but giggled again at the nickname. So it was a cry of laughter followed by a gag
think rescuers the sea gull lmao

I like that.

RE: Sweet Cheezus - Towhee - April 30, 2025

Towhee had to supress her knee-jerk alarm at Amalia’s rejoinder. What had Killdeer done? Oh. He’d knocked up Amalia, of course, putting her in her current predicament. She snorted, feeling awkwardly relieved. Of course her grandson hadn’t actually done something wrong. That wasn’t even possible.

She stopped, distracted by Mal’s heaving. Towhee watched, frowning. The giggling was lost on her; all she saw was the woman struggling to speak through her gagging. So the last three words came as something of a surprise. Was she talking about… the puking?

You what now? she asked, very much the deaf old granny.

RE: Sweet Cheezus - Amalia - May 05, 2025

Amalia usually would have been under the same impression of Towhee. That Killer could do no wrong. But at teh moment, she wasn't feeling generous. She felt sick, and sleepy. And she wanted to be grumpy for a minute. It would pass probably within seconds.

Amalia managed to calm down the coughing and the retching and the laughing. And simply shook her head. A large swallow and gave a nod. Finally able to speak.

I like that nickname.

RE: Sweet Cheezus - Towhee - May 05, 2025

What? Oh, Towhee said, blinking a little owlishly. Good, I’m glad you have good taste in corn.

Amalia seemed to have recovered from her latest bout, though Towhee didn’t move a muscle. She only tried to catch her eye to silently ask if she wanted to keep moving. There was no rush, of course.

Ready whenever you are, she said aloud, glancing ahead to gauge the distance between them and the water.

RE: Sweet Cheezus - Amalia - May 06, 2025

Amalia nodded her head. I can be corny myself.

And she could Amalia loved to laugh and be silly. Happiness was her jam.

Amalia nodded. And gritted her teeth. It was slow, but each paw step brought them closer. And she knew the reward would be worth it in the 3nd.

RE: Sweet Cheezus - Towhee - May 06, 2025

At long last, they came to the edge of the territory’s namesake water feature. Towhee made sure Amalia was steady on her feet before stepping back a couple paces. Hopefully a good, long drink would settle her stomach and wash out what must be a sour taste in her mouth.

I know you feel like shit right now, she said, but this will pass. In the meantime, let’s just take it easy, yeah?

She reclined on her haunches, then eased forward into a sphinx pose parallel with the waterline. Towhee hadn’t even been awake for an hour. Normally she would be out patrolling or even hunting. But Killdeer had it covered. And she didn’t mind relaxing here for a little bit, looking after his pregnant(!) mate.

RE: Sweet Cheezus - Amalia - May 09, 2025

Amalia took slow sips. Small mouthful. That much she could remember from her mother and brothers teachings.

Amalia tilted an earvforward. That was the understatement of the year. She felt horrible. Close to death. Like her insides were squirming.

She nodded and settled herself. Laying near to trail a paw in the water the cool water helped for some reason.

RE: Sweet Cheezus - Towhee - May 09, 2025

Towhee watched Amalia take careful sips before trailing her paws in the water. The cool water probably felt soothing. The Redhawk shuffled a little to dip her own paw, swirling her toes idly.

Mal didn’t say anything and neither did Towhee. She could’ve fallen back asleep, except that she wouldn’t take her eyes off her ailing granddaughter-in-law for anything. As far as she could tell, the bout of sickness had passed… at least until tomorrow morning, anyway.

Fade here? :)
