agana was discovered in delicate crumple.
greenery; pieces of ivory; they fell from the shocked grasp of kukutux. she had come to the glacier intent on the conjure of grey brother's protection for moonspear — but she had gone farther. agana. agana. pale arms wended, and for a long time she only held the still body to the thrum of her heart, eyes caught in a vacant stare. agana. now in the purple riot of lavender beneath the three sisters, agana lay softly arranged in the earth, though kukutux had not yet forced herself to cover that quiet face with any dirt. her eyes were wrung of tears; her flanks of sobbing. "sdax ukuxtakuq," and her voice broke as night stole through oaken leaves and the time of the first death song grew nigh. leaning forward, moonwoman brushed the silent brow with a last kiss, choking a sob there against the velvet temple. her tears fell upon the ground. her own blood blossomed to stain brow and chest. a breath; too familiar these words. it is time to leave. it is time to leave this place of sorrow. it is time to lift from flesh and walk to home, the voiceless words came. do not be afraid. do not be afraid. our voices walk with you, beloved spirit. the death song of the nuiruk rose in saltstained knell over their village once more. RE: nulettukutik ⨰ - Kukutux - April 27, 2025 so hard it had been to bury agana, to cover the beauty of that empty face with good rich earth.
each pawful tore a new strip from moonwoman's heart. and in muddied tears she found her voice to sing again, heartsong swelling over the stone teeth of the long-loved spine. agana! agana! lift yourself from bones now, beloved spirit. there is a time to wait and a time to depart. we sing you now to your home within the dancing lights, when you open your eyes, you will be at peace. tears fell silent upon the grave, and kukutux lay her crown there for a moment as indigo shadows slanted over the village. RE: nulettukutik ⨰ - Kukutux - April 29, 2025 she lay weakly where agana lay interred in earth.
her paws caressed where the earth still mounded beneath her. oh; no more tears to cry. starlight dazzled in the green eyes. she whispered the words to that sky above. lift yourself from bones now, beloved spirit. there is a time to wait and a time to depart. we sing you now to your home within the dancing lights, when you open your eyes, you will be at peace. RE: nulettukutik ⨰ - Kukutux - April 29, 2025 do you hear it? caribou running. do you hear the sound of their hooves? they are calling you home hunt us in the world of the spirits, they say go to them go where the caribou lead we call them to the dancing lights for you, beloved spirit how many times had she sung this? how many times had she known that the third night would only invite a tupilak? how many more might these songs be sung? agana! agana! are you with Sedna now? RE: nulettukutik ⨰ - Kukutux - April 30, 2025 tonight only cries, only seawater and grief wept into the weft of agana's grave.
watering the earth with her heart; a dove set bloodied to flutter over something she was not able to change. kukutux did not veil her grief; she did not hide its face. her minkwoman, gone. and the moon bore witness to the ravaging of her spirit. walk with Sedna. into her arms, agana. RE: nulettukutik ⨰ - Kukutux - May 02, 2025 beloved spirit, you walk through Sedna's throat.
the ground was cold. it is dark, but do not be afraid. her flesh ached entire. we are with you. breath and light, mingling inside kukutux; go toward the stars beyond and they dazzled in her own eyes. go to the light beyond tears, flowing along her temples as she lay watching the sky. do not turn back a song, lifted in force. do not look back twice more, and again, until kukutux closed her eyes to remember agana as she had been. RE: nulettukutik ⨰ - Kukutux - May 04, 2025 we ask for healing. we know the green must come again. remove the winter from our bones. we shed it as grandfather bear leaves his snow parka behind. take it from us. take it with you to the dancing lights. our love will warm your shoulders there. sung once. sung to the conifers, to the teeth of the spine. kukutux lay with arms around the grave and closed her eyes to sundering. RE: nulettukutik ⨰ - Kukutux - May 05, 2025 do you hear, beloved spirit?
it is the moon of white hawks — their wings bear you to the dancing lights now. you crawl out of the sleeping place of sedna. open your eyes and see. your journey is almost at an end. your journey is almost at an end. no tears this night. she breathed beside the earth. stars became her blood, and in dreams did agana walk beside kukutux once more. RE: nulettukutik ⨰ - Kukutux - May 06, 2025 no singing this night.
only she and the grave. by now you have reached Sedna. by now you have reached your own gods. shuddering breath was the only punctuation of that thought. soon you hunt with the old ones. i have done well. you have done well. we have done well. RE: nulettukutik ⨰ - Kukutux - May 07, 2025 <3333
