I am not a martyr, I'm a problem - Mae - April 29, 2025 Mae is looking for her father, but she'll stay regardless if she's welcome <3 feel free to rank her to keep the pack from going under!
Months since she'd been to these borders. The journey had been slow and winding, often taking them in the wrong direction entirely. @Lavender had gotten her here, though, as promised. Now she was gone, and it was only Mae, left to face her past — face her father — alone. All the familiar scents were faded, but she didn't think much of that. Instead she called out for @Akavir. No sense wasting any time now that she was here. RE: I am not a martyr, I'm a problem - Odessia - April 30, 2025 tags for reference of odessia's general state of mind/behavior.
Odessia scarcely slept. Every time she closed her eyes, she watched Viper's life flow out of him. Several times, she thought she saw him out of the corner of her eye, his throat ripped open and gushing the red life force onto the ground. When she was not seeing him, she barely noticed the world around her. She ate what she could and drank, but she felt as though it was some other wolf eating and drinking on her behalf. Either that or nothing about this was real. Maybe she was not real. Her heart pounded at every reminder of Viper's death, often causing her to vomit up whatever little she had been able to eat. She could not stop from moving, often pacing in circles or back and forth along the creek's bank. Every noise sent her into flight mode, her heart pounding violently in her chest. Her muscles ached from how tightly she held them, unable to release the tension she held there. If @Etienne were nearby, she scarcely acknowledged his presence. If @Anselm were nearby, she relived the moment he ripped open Viper's throat again and again and again. When she could feel anything at all, her existence was horror, fright, and anxiety. She did not see the other wolf until she had run right into her, and Odessia backpedaled herself right onto her backside, blinking as she tried to bring the dark fur into focus. RE: I am not a martyr, I'm a problem - Mae - May 03, 2025 Her ears fell back as she heard the approach of an unfamiliar gait, and when she lifted her nose, she caught a whiff of a foreign scent before it slipped away. Agitation rippled through her, but she didn't expect the other wolf to collide with her flank. Mae snarled, stumbling a little but nonetheless turning to face whoever had shoved into her so rudely. No one Mae knew, by the scent suddenly flooding her. A woman. Typical. Where's Akavir?Mae demanded. No sense wasting any time being mad at her. Not her fault she's stupid, Mae reminded herself, and felt very wise for it. RE: I am not a martyr, I'm a problem - Odessia - May 03, 2025 Odessia immediately flattened to the ground, her ears splayed and her tail tucked tightly beneath her as she tried to make herself look as small as possible. She did not make eye contact, deciding it was better to stare at the dark feet in front of her. The fur reminded her of Viper, and she thought better of it, closing her eyes tightly and licking her lips, willing the other wolf to go away. In her chest, her heart beat rapidly. "Where's Akavir?" the voice demanded. Odessia had never heard the name. A soft whine escaped her throat, and she shook her head ever-so-slightly. Her chin never left the presumed safety of the ground. Would this woman attack her as Viper had attacked Etienne? Would she kill her? These were the thoughts that wormed their way into Odessia's mind as—once again—she replayed the events in her head, her closed eyes amplifying the memory. RE: I am not a martyr, I'm a problem - Mae - May 03, 2025 It was rare that Mae wasted the energy to wish for sight anymore, but in this moment, she really fucking wished she could see. Fear-scent filled the air; the sound of shuffling; a whine. Mae's lips peeled back from her teeth briefly, but she smoothed the expression with some effort. Something bad had happened here — but what? I'm not going to hurt you, okay?Mae tried for soothing and landed instead on exasperated. Better than angry, at least, which would've been truer to how she felt. Look, I just wanna know what happened to the pack here. And the leader. Akavir. RE: I am not a martyr, I'm a problem - Odessia - May 04, 2025 "I'm not going to hurt you, okay?" the other wolf said, though Odessia was less sure of that than she had ever been in her life. The tone of the stranger's voice was less than friendly, and Odessia did not even believe the friendly ones anymore. How could she trust anyone after what had happened with Viper and Tattered Ear? She had thought Viper to be a friend—hell, a servant—only to find that he was completely off his rocker. She still could not reason why he had gone after Etienne like that. True, she had not known him long, but why? There was the name again, Akavir. Odessia did not know it any more than she knew—wait—maybe that was Tattered Ear's true name? Odessia could not remember. She only remembered his ears and the way blood had spilled from Viper when Tattered Ear's teeth had clamped down on his throat. The blue-eyed wolf swallowed hard. She did not think her voice would come, but she could lead this svart to Tattered Ear and possibly Etienne. Maybe the latter would be able to talk to her. Odessia gestured for the dark stranger to follow and began to lead her to the place where she had last seen Etienne and Tattered Ear. RE: I am not a martyr, I'm a problem - Mae - May 16, 2025 Mae couldn't see the gesture, but she figured out she was probably meant to follow after a few seconds of standing in bewildered silence. The scent of death lingered where the woman led her, death and strange wolves. No sign of her father, though — or anyone else she knew. Mae's ears flattened to her skull, but she didn't say a word. Instead she pushed past the woman to sniff around, to follow the scent of blood. What the fuck...she mumbled, casting a suspicious glance over her shoulder; entirely for show, of course, given she couldn't see shit. Mae wasn't even sure she was glaring at the right spot. She wanted answers — and this had only given her more questions. RE: I am not a martyr, I'm a problem - Odessia - May 16, 2025 last one from me!
Neither Etienne nor Tattered Ear were here any longer. Given the location, Odessia began to feel nauseous. The Incident replayed in her mind again, and she realized she could not stay here any longer. Not in this spot, at least. Whoever this wolf was, she would have to find Akavir on her own. Odessia slipped away, the ringing in her ears slowly dissipating as she fled the scene. |
