He had been stripped of his role, disgraced and cursed by his maman. But nonetheless, he loved her.
Raising Julienne on his own, he thought he was beginning to understand the attachment that his mother felt for Chandra. An unfortunate child or not, Chandra was her daughter. He knew that as she grew, Viskani would come to see that the girl would never be able to lead the pack with the necessary skill and another would be chosen. He would do nothing to interfere, he had learned his lesson; he did not quite have the brain for such a devious plan, that and his maman had the right to stray from grandmaman's traditions.
However with this pushed from his mind, he found himself searching for @Noctaryn.

Noctaryn was glad to be back within the walls of the Vale and away from conflict. He had left Viskani’s side upon their return to quickly scour the borders, and when he had been satisfied to find nothing amiss, he returned to his den within the settlement.
There was an exhaustion deep in his bones and all he could think about was curling up into a ball and sleep. But, it seemed his wish would not be granted as Chaudry came into view. He sighed, for it seemed the large male was searching for him, and he stood to meet him.
Chaudry.His head dipped in greeting, but there was no kindness behind his eyes, only a question: What do you want?

Upon finding the man, he only stared for a moment.
You are in love with my maman.His statement came out blunt, eyes narrowing. Maybe he had moved on from his mission of baby murder, but there was always something else to be bothered by.
He didn't really have much proof of his claim, but he felt sure of it this time around. Why else was the halfbreed so determined to stay on her tail?
Feet planted, it seemed that he was waiting for something.

He did not react, not initially, only returning the man’s stare with one of his own as he mulled over the accusation. He knew the truth of it, but hadn’t realized that others, especially her son, could know the feelings in his heart.
Hadn’t he been covert?
Clearly not.
And so, he cocked his head, deciding that the truth will out.
And, if I am, I assume you have something to say about it? Though, your mother is a grown woman and capable of handling her own affairs.
I have not done a challenge/dice rolls before so let me know how you want this to go. I did read the conflict piece, so I’ll follow your lead ^^

Noctaryn was a problem. He was the first of his mother's suitors who was not able to be taken down a peg by his family. Usually grandmaman would take care of things, she could send and men cowering onto his knees, but it was often sons, fathers, and brothers who took on the challenge. However grandpere was called "Petit Lilac" for a reason, his uncles were more terrified of their sisters, and until now her sons were often too young (except for maman's third litter, but Chevalier was too angry and Charlie was too nice).
No teeth, and no claws. If you win, I will let you court her.The premise was basic, but often rooted in respect for one another. Given this was not, it could get aggressive.
No worries! To keep things easy I usually do 30 "health" and whatever you roll on the dice is what you take off the other person. I usually would add a +1 for |Chaudry's trade since this is a challenge but I don't have to if you would prefer I leave it!

Well, if that were the case, what a way to go.
So that’s what this was: a challenge. He did not balk—quite the opposite, actually. Noctaryn was well acquainted with fighting. It was part of his daily routine growing up—he either participated, or watched. Neither was enjoyable.
But, this Lutte sounded much milder than what he was used to since there were no claws or teeth—great. He eyed the man, the height and weight of him an obvious challenge. He would have to outsmart him somehow.
Well, let’s have it, then. But, keep this in mind, Chaudry—this boils down to your mother and her choice. I will satisfy your need for this, but if she wills it, I will satisfy her need.He grinned devilishly.

A lurch forward, he slammed his shoulder into Noctaryn's chest. Not so aggressive at the start, he wanted to test what the other man could handle and what he would give out.
Win or lose, what did it truly matter? He had nothing more to lose, nothing except Julienne or his maman, and he knew that his maman would never marry; she was too proud.

Noctaryn threw a laugh at being called disgusting—his words were meant to get under the man-child’s skin and he was happy to see it had worked. He wanted nothing more than to satisfy Viskani’s needs, that much was true, but not in the way his words insinuated. It was a perk, of course, to show Viskani how much he cared for her—with gentle words and soft touches meant only between lovers—but it was not his priority.
And she would need to choose him in return. There would be no one-sided claim. Never that.
His mirth was cut short as Chaudry rocked into his chest, causing him to stumble back with the impact. The breath whooshed from his lungs, leaving him to take a moment to steady himself.
Silver eyes flashed with anger, his vision turning red as he snarled in response. It was equal parts anger towards Chaudry and anger that had been pent up for years that fueled his attack in return. He surged forward, ducking under the man’s chin before pushing off his back legs to slam himself into the man’s throat.

He stumbled back from Noctaryn's hit, a surprising amount of power. At the realization that this truly would be a challenge a smile crossed his face; a vile thing that forced his own father's features to the surface despite Viskani's coating. His maman would have flinched at the sight - maybe that was why she never liked to watch him participate in these things.
His eyes fixed to Noctaryn's lower half, he regained composure and moved forward once more. A circle of the snarling majordome, and he was soon shooting his head underneath Noctaryn's back legs. Gross to him, but had the potential to be effective; he slammed his head upwards, an attempt to knock Noctaryn over.
Should this go well, he could have the pin in record time; if not, then it could also go very wrong.

He saw the change in Chaudry, the smile that crossed his face was that of a devil on four paws. It fueled his anger more and he snarled, clacking his teeth, spittle flying. How did such a beautiful female birth such an ugly male?
He knew his fair share of evil. Chaudry was top tier.
The mountain man circled him, and though he sidestepped to keep him in view the best he could, it just wasn’t fast enough. His back end went flying, head over heels. He yelped at the onslaught to his nether region before landing on his side in the dirt.
He pushed to his feet, a minor limp to his step as there was some tenderness now blooming where he’d been hit. It will surely smart later.
Emitting a deep growl, Noctaryn charged Chaudry. As he approached mere feet away, he zigged to the left before zagging to the right in an attempt to confuse his opponent. His path continued around the male to shoulder check him in the hip.

Sorry, I forgot to add it last time! Rolled an 8 this time
He saw the zig and zag, and given he had not expected it to get this far, it caught him off-guard. The other male was able to slam into him, pushing him back a fair bit. With a growl, he knew he would pull no tricks this time, quick to shoot forward chest-to-chest.
His forhead suddenly fixed to Noctaryn's, he let out a snarl before headbutting him.
What made this halfbreed think he was worthy? What made him think he deserved her? He never should have brought Noctaryn here; he never would have if he had known how much trouble he would create.

OOF. Rolled a 3 last night
He was a freight train, the mountain man’s skull cracking with his, and Noctaryn felt the warmth of liquid dripping down into his eyes. The impact caused him to buckle while he shook his vision free of the blood, his body backing away for space.
Fuck!I don’t think I can win this, he thought to himself.
All he could muster was to throw his head back up to connect with Chaudry’s jaw, the impact of it making him wince.

The flash of blood and the curses of his mother's lover sent a great deal of excitement through him, even as his lower jaw was slammed into his upper.
Shooting forward once more, he looked to grapple Noctaryn to the ground. Lay on top of him if he could. He wanted to humiliate the man, get off on his loss.
How much did he really care that his maman wanted to chase after some fling? He wasn't sure, but nonetheless Noctaryn had put in a position where he was ranked higher than the Matriarche's own son. A woman he could understand, but a man? Let alone a halfbreed - it was all just wrong.

His wound pulsed with blood, the hot liquid falling into his eyes as they grappled. He couldn’t see, but knew that he indeed loss the lutte. He put up some effort to grapple with the mountain man, only to prove he had something left in him, but it wasn’t long lasting.
He landed on his side, his hip screaming from the impact as the dust settled around them. There will be a noticeable limp in his steps for the next few days, he had no doubt.
His eyes glared daggers at the gloating man who pinned him. Yet, he didn’t stop the toothy grin from forming as he spoke.
You won this time, Chaudry. Bask in your short-lived glory. When all is said in done, don’t forget—you have nothing else.He kicked his back legs to get the male off of him so he could take his leave tend to his wound and sore hind end.
This was fun! I love their budding rivalry ^^

He snickered, licking the budding wound on Noctaryn's forehead.
One day I'll see you cry.He grinned once more, lingering before he stood and took his leave.
Maybe Noctaryn thought that he had nothing, but he had this victory didn't he?
