woe is me - Sam - May 16, 2025 Sidekick life was slow. After failing to complete his first mission and having no clue how to fix it or what to do next, Sam opted for a spot of beach-side moping. It was early morning and overcast. Sam was grey and the sky was grey and the bright future he had imagined was desaturating fast. She would replace him. He was certain of it. His picture perfect villain would kick him to the curb and find someone that could follow (unspoken) directions, and what would he do then? There was noone else like.. whatever her name was. Not in all the world. The wolf in the sand heaved his third and most dramatic ask-me-what's-up sigh of that minute. A passing crab turned its eyestalks his way, seemed to intuit that Sam needed to talk, and abruptly changed course to avoid him. The obvious rejection squeezed the young wolf's heart like a vice. This was what his life had become. Not even a creature without discernable ears would stop to listen. He would simply lie there until the sea claimed him. RE: woe is me - Lafayette - May 16, 2025 he'd heard tell of sobeille's little helper, though he hadn't met the man quite yet. as lafayette wandered down the sound and caught sight of the unfamiliar wolf, his hackles raised slightly in instinctual wariness. still, though his posture was upright and territorial, and his gaze was gimlet green, he did not show outward aggression—yet. be careful sleepin' too close to de water, lafayette remarked, nodding toward the darkened wet sand near where the stranger lay. sometimes de waves come up quick, an' can swallow you up. learned dat de hard way. the yearling sat and regarded the man impassively. his nostrils flared and found his sister's scent upon him, which helped him to relax, even if only slightly. still, only time would tell if this would be a face that would remain—or if the visage would join so many others that had faded into obscurity, having abandoned sapphique. RE: woe is me - Sam - May 16, 2025 Sam remained where he was, flat against the ground, very much not challenging anyone's authority or really acting like a wolf at all. He was a slug. A beached jellyfish awaiting the end. Two sad brown eyes swivelled to look at the stranger. "Good," he said, exhaling hard enough to disturb the sand. If the sea took him away, at least he would be washed clean of humiliation. "You're very red. Like a squirrel." Sam went on, without moving a muscle or changing his tone of voice. RE: woe is me - Lafayette - June 03, 2025 he gave the other wolf a quizzical look, scrunching his nose and brows in query. a. . .squirrel?he echoed. that was a new one. though perhaps, given the man's response, he was not in his right mind. really, get back, lafayette told him, looking stern. at least come wit' me an' look for food. you be knowin' sobeille? the boy was no stranger to listlessness, but for some reason, it irritated him to see it in another soul. projection, he supposed. he gave the man a nudge, forepaw-to-shoulder, before moving along the beach, glancing back to see if his newfound acquaintance would follow. RE: woe is me - Sam - June 03, 2025 The wolf nudged him. Urgh. Sam did as he was told, leaving a sad wolf-shaped indentation behind in the sand as he got to his feet - barely. He was going to slouch the whole way, but the mention of food pulled at the tips of his fluffy ears for a moment. The red stranger had the same peculiar accent as the Boss Lady, but Sam did not make the connection – and he did not know her name. He jogged to catch up. "Sobeille?" the yearling repeated, slowly, tasting the foreing syllables. "I don’t think so.. are they in the business of stealing things? I lost my mistress's .. " Should he say it? ".. ss-k..stuff. Skull. It's a skull. Who would steal a skull? It was old and pretty gross, too." |
