A boy once wandered here, now a man stands broken - Sven - May 18, 2025 Sven was alone again. Ujurak had dispersed and he could not blame him. But something kept Sven in the Teekon wilds. A call that hung heavy in his bones, and blood. In his heart. He had watched the stone circle and noticed that the wolves he had once fought with were no longer hanging around. So he made his way back home and he dug around. He began to erase their scent adding his own. Tracing long worn foothills and footpaths that he had once traced. The borders something he knew so well, he walked them without a second thought. Could he rebuild Kvarsheim. He did not know and he doubted he would name it as such. That name belonged to a different boy. Now a burdened man. He would do what he could. But without bodies well. RE: A boy once wandered here, now a man stands broken - June - May 19, 2025 Borders had not truly concerned June for a good, long while, now. Especially not borders as faint as these. But, even if she had cared, she would not have noticed it in her chase. Her dirty paws dug into the ground with each rapid step, her whole body twisting with the effort of throwing herself doggedly, pitilessly after her terrified prey. She was gaining on it, and as her field of vision narrowed (focus, and also a distinct lack of oxygen) to just the flashing white hindquarters of her quarry, she was bound to miss out on certain other stimuli. Namely, the whole ass wolf she raced by, not fifty yards difference between them. Regarding the doe: Like her, it bled from a bite wound on its ankle, and, like her, it was doing an admirable job of ignoring that fact and carrying on anyway. Like her, it was rapidly losing steam. But, even as the wolf pushed herself to the very edges of her ability, she began to pull ahead. A snarl of fury hissed between June's teeth. Her vision, which had begun to blacken, turned abruptly red. Still, she threw herself forward, step after step, leap after bound, falling further and further behind. RE: A boy once wandered here, now a man stands broken - Sven - May 30, 2025 Sven jumped back as first a doe then a whole wolf ran past him. Surprised and slightly irritated. He was not cruel. And he noticed the she wolf flagging. So he shifted, dug paws into dirt and chased after. He would pull ahead and snap at what he could. He would at least catch the deer for the she wolf if he could RE: A boy once wandered here, now a man stands broken - June - June 08, 2025 Tunnel-vision was a dangerous affliction; it had been the leading cause of June's close-calls almost since birth. She'd not yet found a way to combat it, though — and so, when the deer hesitated, she assumed it had only caught its paw in a gopher hole. Perhaps she did not think far enough even to assume. Perhaps she only saw the scant few feet she was able to gain, bringing her just close enough to the deer to pounce. She didn't see Sven; she didn't see that it was another wolf that had so startled the deer. The deer stumbled again as June's body struck its flank. It bleated in terror as teeth sank into its overheated flank, still trying to flee from the wolf that had suddenly appeared in front of it. This confusion and this extra weight took long, precious second to correct. By the time it regained its bearings, it was, quite possibly, too late. RE: A boy once wandered here, now a man stands broken - Sven - June 10, 2025 The wolf seemed to not even know he was there. And that was okay. Dangerous, but okay. Sven helped where he could and when he was absolutely certain she would be able to take it down herself. He removed himself from the situation. He wasn't about to lose a limb or gain new scars, because she wasn't paying attention and thought he was attacking her kill. No. That was not something he longed for. So he began to turn away and walk from the carnage. Perhaps he could catch a rabbit or bird. If she did happen to finally look up, all she would find was a tail flick as he disappeared into the underbrush. |
