Nasamiituuq was not far into her journey when she became aware that someone was following her. At first, foolishly, she thought — hoped! — that it was Keshi, come to apologize. To ask her to come back. But she quickly realized that wouldn't make any sense, and hope gave way to fear.
Her path turned twisting in an attempt to shake off her pursuer. She no longer knew where she was. The scents of other predators seemed to haunt her steps. As the sun began to sink and the world slowly darkened, Nasamiituuq suddenly feared she would never see Moonglow again.
And she wouldn't — at least, not any time soon.
When the sun rose again, the moongirl was gone.
