words together make title :))) - Elk - June 13, 2025 Without any need for him to watch children, nor even particularly to provide for them, White Elk found himself at loose ends. He patrolled, and of course he still hunted, but it was something of a lonely existence. Not, however, any more or less lonely than he'd felt since leaving Callyope's side. He wandered quite aimlessly this morning, snuffling through the leaves in search of truffles. He'd never had a nose for them, but there was little else he could think of to occupy his time. Eventually, he found some mushrooms. Head cocked to the side, he sat and stared at them. Were they good to eat?? RE: words together make title :))) - Treepie - June 13, 2025 The air smelled like rain, though the clouds held out as morning shifted into afternoon. Treepie wrapped her patrol and began to climb toward a nearby cache, eager to quiet the hunger gnawing at her belly. She found it and nosed through it, pulling out the least fresh kill and making short work of it. She was licking her paws when a shadow passed overhead. Tiuttuk looked up right as something smacked her between the eyes. She let out an undigifnied yelp and sprang to her feet. Something small and soft fell between her forepaws. Pie glanced at it, then upward to see the deformed hawk winging further up the mount. Lips twisting, she looked down again and nosed at the fresh rodent. She didn’t know what kind. It was too bad she’d just eaten. Loath to waste fresh meat, Treepie plucked up the kill, shot a baffled but grateful glance skyward, and continued her ascent. She would find Alaric, Tiki or… Elk,she said as she came up behind him and dropped the gifted kill. You hungry?Pie queried, yellow eyes drifting down to peer at the mushrooms before flicking up again. For… meat? |
