The sun is bright, our shirts are clean - Lyric Redhawk - June 20, 2025

Little Lyric had become a bit more mobile in recent days, crawling about the den until he grew tired or hungry - which came rather quickly, so these spouts of movement never lasted too long.

Still blind and still deaf, this new discovery of movement came with it's troubles. Today Lyric had taken a new route towards a new wall, and when boredom told him to get back to eating he quickly decided that he was lost - though his mother was not far at all. Wailing, little limbs shook about like a miniature tantrum.

RE: The sun is bright, our shirts are clean - Amalia - June 21, 2025

Amalia watched with quietly attention as Lyric crawled about and explored. Though what he was exploring she wasn't certain. He couldn't hear it or see it. But she supposed touch was just as important.

Green eyes crinkled in amusement when he got himself turned around and threw a huge tantrum. She chuckled as she reached out to pluck him up and press him to her tummy. Whispering.

Now no need to throw a hissy fit.

RE: The sun is bright, our shirts are clean - Towhee - June 21, 2025

Towhee came to hover in the doorway, a frown tugging at her lips despite the endearing view inside. Bushtit had arrived this morning to let her know he’d gone by the valley to visit @Towhee Jr et al only to find it completely deserted. He was resting near the borders now, though neither one of them had any idea where (and how) Jr and her family might be now.

Bushtit’s here for a day or two, she shared with Mal, grinning as the mother nabbed her own wayward son and guided him to her belly. I don’t know if he’ll come by to see them, she continued, making no mention of the bad news as she took a seat. I got the distinct impression that that turd doesn’t like kids. Unbelievable.

She shook her head, snorting a dry laugh through her nose as her orange eyes shone fondly upon the newest Redhawks. Bushtit was an idiot if he didn’t think pups were one of the greatest gifts in life. Towhee could only hope he might change his mind one day.

When his mother first picked him up, you would have though Lyric was completely shocked from the way he held up his front legs and wailed. However, once he was returned to his mothers belly his whining ceased and he was back to being the happiest babe in the surrounding area.

Suckling with no worries and few thoughts, he had no clue that Towhee had come to visit. Though, for a time he probably wouldn't understand that the world was bigger than himself, his mother, and his single sister. Maybe that was why he could be so happy.

RE: The sun is bright, our shirts are clean - Amalia - July 03, 2025

Amalia lifted her head to give a wolfish grin at Towhee. Though her smile faded a little at the look on Towhees face at first. Though the older Matriarch did school it once she saw the puppies.

Aww. Well i hope he at least stops by to see them. Some wolves juat aren't fond of pups. My dad preferred when we were older and could walk and talk.

She rubbed her nose along Lyrics side. This one is thus far the loudest and most mobile.

RE: The sun is bright, our shirts are clean - Towhee - July 03, 2025

She didn’t think her son would bother, though she didn’t say anything. Towhee knew kids weren’t for everyone, though when it came to her direct descendants, she wanted them to multiply indefinitely. How dare Bushtit attempt to deny her the future grandchildren she deserved!

Don’t worry, she said to the pups as she took a few steps closer to Amalia, you don’t need your stinky… whatever he is to you. I’ve got plenty of love to give. Towhee took a seat. Is he really? I wouldn’t know, she said in reply to Mal’s remark.

She didn’t want to disturb Lyric while he was latched, so she reached out and ran a paw down @Carolina Redhawk’s velveteen back. The little girl squirmed slightly, so Towhee made another pass with a little more pressure to avoid tickling the infant by accident. Carolina calmed and grew still under the gentle strokes, though Towhee felt a slight vibration.

Is she whimpering? Happily, I hope.

RE: The sun is bright, our shirts are clean - Carolina Redhawk - July 14, 2025

Indeed, little Carolina whimpered happily.

RE: The sun is bright, our shirts are clean - Lyric Redhawk - July 16, 2025

So much was happening today!

His squirming sister followed by the vibration of her whimper prompted him to unlatch. Little paws flailed in a search for her - though it would likely look more like he was smacking her given he wasn't very graceful yet.

RE: The sun is bright, our shirts are clean - Amalia - July 17, 2025

Amalia chuckled at the way Towhee talked about her child, with small spirited insults, but all the love in the world wrapped in it. She liked Killer's grandma, was glad she was in their life.

Amalia nodded. Yes quite loud. And very very mobile. I had to pull him back three times this morning. When he gets his sea legs. Watch out world.

Amalia smiled sweetly. She is happy. Enjoying the love. She gently redirected Lyric's paw from his sister's face and shook her head. A small laugh in her throat.

RE: The sun is bright, our shirts are clean - Towhee - July 17, 2025

Good, Towhee replied to the details Amalia shared, particularly those she couldn’t glean for herself, on all counts.

Lyric quit nursing to fuss at Carolina. Towhee watched, orange eyes dancing, though they went a little dim as she wondered how Jr’s children were doing these days. They were older than these two, of course, and perhaps the family had simply relocated elsewhere now that they were more mobile. Her breath hitched.

Trying to redirect her thoughts and attention, the elder suddenly rose onto all fours, spun and then plopped down on the ground again, her back to Mal and the pups. She looked over her shoulder as her tail swept to and fro, just barely swishing over the little ones. Hopefully it would serve as decent sensory stimulation.

Once he had 'saved' his sister, Lyric was content once more.. until a strange tail was suddenly bugging him.

Vicious attacks in the form of puppy wiggles were given out, though he quickly tired himself out once more.

I'm going to have this be Lyric's last!
