she’s miss cali - Treepie - July 03, 2025 I did a fair bit of power-playing here, so please let me know if I need to adjust anything. Any and all are welcome!
It wasn’t her father who found them at the borders but Towhee. Treepie bowed her head to her great grandmother, then explained what the three of them (@Alaric, Tikaani and herself) were doing here. There was a lot of uncertainty in her heart which showed on her face, though the eldest Redhawk warmly welcomed them. She shrugged off the quiet apology Tiuttuk offered as they turned to climb the caldera’s exterior slope. Yellow eyes flicked upward as they ascended, catching a glimpse of Wyvern flapping along overhead. When they reached the crest, Pie’s gaze dropped and she audibly gasped. It was no wonder her taataa—and the ancestors before him—had chosen this place. It was at once a paradise and a fortress. Towhee made to lead them downhill now, then across the territory to something called the Hobbit Hole. She pointed it out and Pie could see its large mouth all the way from here. That was where they would find @Killdeer, Amalia and their young puppies, she knew. She didn’t feel ready, though she sucked in a breath, looked to her companions for comfort and fell into step to their destination. Wyvern dropped down and perched in a tree that grew at the top of the hillock over the family’s lair as they arrived. Treepie saw Towhee notice and explained that the hawk had been following her for quite some time now. She asked whether the aged Redhawk might be able to identify her species. It had been difficult enough figuring out the bird’s given name. “I’m pretty sure,” Towhee said slowly, clearly thinking out loud as a strange light flickered in her orange eyes, “that she’s a nightjar.” Her great grandmother drew a visible breath, shaking her head lightly and motioning toward the Hobbit Hole. “Speaking of brothers, you have one to meet. A sister too.” Although the reference earned a puzzled look from Tiuttuk, she bobbed her head and stepped tentatively toward the doorway. RE: she’s miss cali - Amalia - July 09, 2025 Amalia leaned her heard forward when she saw a shadow coming across their entrance. A small smile when she saw that it was Treepie and her brother behind. Alaric was kind enough to stay further back, so that Treepie could have this moment. Hello. This is Carolina and this is Lyric. She tilted her head and spread her one leg outward, so that the children were still visible, but still tucked quietly against her. So that there were not startled exclamations or squeaking children. It was a moment that had Amalia holding her breath. Would Tiuttuk like them? Or would she hate both them and Amalia for taking her father away. RE: she’s miss cali - Treepie - July 10, 2025 She held her breath as she set one paw over the threshold, though it left her in a great rush as she beheld the two babies bundled at Amalia’s breast. Her next breath caught in her throat as Pie unthinkingly crouched, folding to the floor beside her father’s mate. She didn’t know which was which, though as her yellow eyes flicked from the swarthy little boy to the tiny ginger girl beside him, Tiuttuk’s battered and broken heart swelled in her chest. She desperately wanted to touch them. She wanted to press her nose to their heads to see if they were as velveteen to the touch as they looked. She wanted to kiss their little, wrinkled faces. She wanted to blow raspberries on their fat little tummies. She wanted to scoop them to her own chest and hold them tightly against the heart that beat stronger, knitting itself with immediate and unconditional love for her baby siblings. Treepie restrained herself, her forelegs stretched toward them but her paws falling just short of their tiny bodies. Her chin came to rest on top of her forepaws as she just stared, adoring them with her eyes and her sense of smell until she understood whether Amalia would allow her to interact with them. RE: she’s miss cali - Amalia - July 17, 2025 Amalia ran her paw along the little heads. This is your brother Lyric. And this is your sister Carolina. So far he is loud and she is quiet. Amalia shifted, making a soft noise as Lyric took that moment to suck a little hard than she had wanted him too. Her teats were definitely getting cracked and she didn't even want to think about when they had teeth. Good golly. You can touch them. Gently. Just don't unlatch them or they'll scream. She chuckled and shifted a little bit. So that Treepie could reach. She dind't mind the girl touching them. She had no doubt that Tree wouldn't hurt them. Based on the love sick expression on her face. She was impressed and enamored. RE: she’s miss cali - Treepie - July 17, 2025 Tears actually sprang to her eyes when Amalia told her she could touch them. Minding the mother’s advice about not unlatching them, she scooted closer. The distance closed, her nose touching gently against Carolina’s wee forehead. She kissed it, then shifted to plant one on little Lyric too. She withdrew just long enough to swipe at her eyes, lest she get tears on her baby brother and sister. Then Pie resumed kissing and nuzzling them, familiarizing herself with their individual scents. No matter where life took them, she would never forgot the way they smelled, as their existence wove inexorably into her heartstrings. I love them, she whispered to Amalia after getting her fill—for now. I love them so much. They’re absolutely perfect. RE: she’s miss cali - Amalia - July 24, 2025 Amalia had not meant to upset Pie, unless it was happiness. As the older girl ghosted forward Amalia saw it was indeed happiness. She made a soft churchur in her throat glad to have made her happy. I'm certain they'll love you too. I hope you visit often or even stay if you want. I always enjoyed my siblings around. RE: she’s miss cali - Treepie - July 24, 2025 Tiuttuk wanted to promise them that she would be there for them every day, as Amalia implied. But she was still adrift, uncertain where fate would take her. She didn’t want to make any promises she couldn’t keep. I won’t be a stranger, was all she could offer at the moment, smiling thinly at the new mother. Will you tell me what it was like? Carrying them? Delivering them? Don’t spare any details, even the nitty gritty ones. I want to be an anaa one day. I want to know everything there is to know about it… if you don’t mind sharing, of course, she tacked on hastily. Her cheeks warmed a little. This was her father’s mate, someone she didn’t know well. Perhaps it was too personal a question for their dynamic. She held her breath as she awaited a response, occupying herself by nuzzling the sleepy pups again. RE: she’s miss cali - Amalia - July 25, 2025 Amalia nodded. That's all I ask. The next questions drew her pause and she was unsure how to proceed, not because she didn't want too. But because it was a lot. Well not everyone's journey is the same. My pregnancy was hard. I think in part because I had never allowed myself to go into heat before. I kept it at bay with herbs and also because I'm not young wolf. I was very sick and sore. And the cravings were murder. Literally. I may have murdered someone for a piece if groundhog. Amalia shifted. Thinking. But it was also amazing. Feeling them move and kick. Knowing they were alive in there. The labor was brutal pain so much pain. Felt as if you were being cleared in 2 each time. But once I saw their little faces I completely forgot the pain. RE: she’s miss cali - Treepie - July 26, 2025 Amalia opened up about the double-edged sword of childbirth and all that preceded it. Longing filled Tiuttuk’s heart. She wanted all these experiences someday, the good and the bad. She feared that things may not turn out that way, especially since her anatomy favored one biological sex over another in such a way that did not necessarily support her preferences—or her dreams. Thank you for sharing that with me,she said. I hope to know what it’s like someday, bringing children of my own into this world. Until then… well, my love is not a finite resource, she murmured to little Carolina and Lyric. She would remain here as long as Amalia allowed, cherishing her baby siblings. Perhaps this immediate bond might be enough to keep her tethered here. But even as Treepie cuddled them, deep down she knew she remained adrift. |
