The lore of the ancients. - Towhee - September 01, 2025 Although @Killdeer didn’t hold a leadership title currently, Towhee still consulted with both her grandson and @Amalia about most pack matters. They chatted over breakfast this morning before the Elder set out into the overcast day. She planned to warm up by way of a lakeside walk, then perhaps take one or both pups along on her morning patrol. First things first, though: she planted her feet in the soft silt lining the caldera, orange eyes watching the trailing mists for a moment. Towhee then threw back her head, announcing @Alivia’s, @Cinar’s and @Trailhawk’s ascent into the Journeyman rank. She threw in a celebratory yip for all three, then finished with a footnote asking Cinar in particular to come meet her beside the water. RE: The lore of the ancients. - Cinar - September 01, 2025 Cinar had only returned from a journey a day or two before, one he would not speak of. He had come home clean and fed, a new sense of sangfroid hanging around him. Whatever his previous problems were, they seemed to have resolved themselves. With this he was able to join Towhee swiftly, dipping his head as he joined the elder. A promotion was exciting, and certainly one he felt he had earned. Cinar had committed himself to the caldera completely, leaving behind what he came from to settle here with the Redhawks. Sitting down next to Towhee, he remained silent so as to allow her to speak first. RE: The lore of the ancients. - Towhee - September 01, 2025 The air was brisk, a nip to the mild breeze that ruffled the water. The day would heat up quickly as summer made its last stand for the year. With that in mind, Towhee waded into the water, letting her eyes slip shut as she focused on the sensation of it lapping around her ankles. It felt pleasantly cool, especially in contrast to the sun beating down on her back. Wait, wasn’t it cloudy today? Towhee’s eyes opened and, sure enough, there wasn’t a single sunbeam in sight. Why did her back feel so warm then? She turned 180°, facing the shoreline as if she might find the source of the inexplicable heat. There was nothing there, of course, and the back of her neck began to prickle. Oh, you’ve got to be shitting me,the Redhawk muttered under her breath a split second before Cinar appeared, heeding her call. You’ve got to be shitting me,she repeated in a hiss as the sudden onset hot flash cued an even stronger sense of déjà vu. Stepping out of the shallows, she shook off her paws more violently than was strictly necessary and sat with undue force. It felt like fire licked up her spine as Cinar closed the distance and took a seat beside her, oblivious to her affliction. Sweat popped out everywhere it could on her canine anatomy as the Redhawk bit back a groan. I just wanted to say ‘hi’ and catch up,Towhee said with an air of apologetic resignation, wondering when the smell would hit them both. RE: The lore of the ancients. - Cinar - September 01, 2025 Between Towhee's awkward composure and her strange behaviour, it didn't take long for him to put the pieces together once the scent hit him. Hadn't he just recently bumped into her like this? But that aside, she was inviting him to see her! What was he supposed to say? 'Sorry lady, I'd rather boink your niece' seemed wrong no matter how he worded it. Then again, maybe.. Yes, I'm sorry. I think I caught a travel bug recently.. but I am dedicated to the Caldera. I don't think I'll be leaving again for a while. He could promise that much. Cinar would be happier filling caches and marking borders for the time being. Clearing his throat, he wasn't so sure if it was alright to ask.. are you alright Towhee? RE: The lore of the ancients. - Towhee - September 01, 2025 I’d be the last to judge you for some roaming,Towhee said stiffly, shooting him a pained smile. I’m a wanderer myself, she explained, intending to ask him where he’d gone and if he’d enjoyed himself. But her insides felt like they would reach a boiling point soon, which was distracting enough by itself. Then there was the flash of lust that speared through her. Last time, she hadn’t given Cinar the time of day, having had another hombre on her mind. Now, though, things were different… Maybe she was remembering incorrectly, but hadn’t they talked about his possible interest in Livi? That thought triggered a seething burst of anger that really took Towhee off her guard. She suddenly swept back onto her feet and edged a few yards away from Cinar, her nose wrinkling as though he smelled repulsive. Of course, it was Towhee who smelled, and the scent was the opposite of repulsive by design. As it wreathed her, the Redhawk looked helplessly at the male, temptation sinking its hooks deep in her belly. She wanted him. The fire inside her threatened to consume her if she didn’t take what she wanted. I swear to f…Towhee cursed, tearing her eyes away from him, pointing her gaze out over the water even as she continued speaking to Cinar. I’m sorry, I can’t help it. Unless you’re into GILFs, you should go. I’ll find you again once this goddamn chicanery is over with. Sorry, she repeated, even if it wasn’t really her fault. Fuckin’ whore moans. RE: The lore of the ancients. - Cinar - September 01, 2025 Alright, so he had hit the diagnosis right on the nose. Maybe nose wasn't the appropriate word here. It was tempting, but despite the scent that made him want to chase after her.. wasn't that inappropriate? Pushing out a breath, Cinar put his temptations aside for now. It's alright, Towhee. He promised, pushing himself to a weary stand. Feel better, I'm sure this will pass swiftly. No further words passed his lips before Cinar trotted away, his pace brisk. |
