ego - Defne - September 24, 2025 She was so tired. Physically, mentally, emotionally. This wasn't meant to be how her life turned out - it wasn't what she deserved. Sat beside a river in the shade of a mountain, her expression was blank. Yavru slithered across her back, coiling himself around her neck in a way that, while concerning to onlookers, to her felt comforting. Maybe Defne didn't know where she was, why she was here, but at least she had one piece of home with her. It was hard to know where she should run from here. Staring down at her reflection, wide-eyed and undeniably focused, it was nearly enraging when the answer did not immediately come to her. It had been too long since she had real company, too long since she had stayed in one place. Defne knew exactly who was to blame, yet all of them were too far now. The men in her life had been complete failures - even those she had put in the work to push out and raise. Didn't they know what she had sacrificed? How selfish they were? Life was rarely fair, but this was downright cruel. All she had wanted was for someone to take care of her as she aged, to pamper her and let her know she was loved. How was she meant to get that now? Suddenly, something clicked, and the answer came. |
