In the stars - Ahna - October 17, 2025

Another dream. Eventually I want Ahna to approach her father about who the white wolf in her dreams is.

Twllight had fallen, and the darkness closed in. The stars twinkled brightly up above in the clear night sky, watching over those who walked the earth.

Cuddled up in the den for the night, Ahna's eyelids became heavy. Beside the warmth of her Sistraa, Aapa and Aana, sleep carried her from consciousness. When she awoke again, it seemed that she was standing in front of Anik Lake. The water was dark, speckled with stars, and the full moon shone brightly on the surface. She was sure she’d had this dream before, but yet, it was different. She heard singing, soft and beautiful; she looked around, her ears swiveling. Over on the far side of the lake was a bright white wolf, sitting by the lake’s edge, working with a pelt.

Curiosity drove her forward, and she ran around the edge of the lake. When she neared the other side, and the white wolf, she slowed to a walk. She stopped about 6 feet from the mysterious wolf. Her ears were perked forward and her eyes were bright. This wolf was familiar, from a past dream.

“Greetings, Ahna.” The white wolf said. The woman’s eyes were glowing bright green.

How the wolf knew her name surprised her! “How do you know my name?” Ahna asked, her head tilted to the side.

“I have known you since the day you were born. I have watched you and your sister grow.” She told the child, a warm and motherly smile gracing her lips.

This started to confuse Ahna, and that confusion was plainly written on her face. Then there came another question: “But how?”

The woman chuckled softly, “Every time you feel the wind, I am there. When you look to the moon, it is I who watches over you from above.”

This all seemed like a riddle to Ahna. She was too young yet to fully understand the cultural and spiritual aspects of the Moon wolves. She did not yet know if all the spirits, those who came before her. This left her with many questions. But yet, words did not come to her, even though her lips did part.

“You will understand, someday. Keep looking to your aapa, and your Aana. Hold them close. Cherish your sistraa.” A pause, “And remember, I will always be with you.”

Then, the white woman stood, and turned to go. She ran, and leaped for the sky, then faded away. It was then, that daylight had come, and Ahna awoke from her slumber. Still wondering, still curious. Who was this wolf?
