It was so strange. Hokulani had never thought she could care for another like this, and yet staring down at where her bump would appear in weeks to come she felt her heart ache in a way it had never dared before.
Already she was eager to meet them, to learn their personalities, to see how they would look, to feel puppy soft fur brushing against her own. They would be a part of her brought to life, and they would be hers. Hokulani had never had something that truly belonged to her.
Her heart ached, but it was a good ache. The kind that told her she already knew her love for the puppies she would raise with Seastorm at her side. Hokulani knew for certain that she was no longer living for herself alone, and she never would again.
