[m] and every night my mind is running around her - Serein - October 20, 2025 Mature Content WarningThe participants have indicated the following reason(s) for this warning: Sexual themes & a dead wife! Forward dated to the 26th!
As the haze faded from her mind and the flames faded from her veins, Serein was consumed with anxiety. It wasn't regret, not quite. Or maybe it was, but — not regret for him. She didn't regret @Kemal. He hadn't given her any reason to yet.But children? She didn't know the first thing about children. She didn't even have a den. So when the light dawned on the seventh day, Serein rose with the sun, snuffling loudly through the dirt as she trailed away from the space she'd shared with Kemal. It wasn't quite an invitation, but it was as close as he would get to one. Her tail swayed idly behind her, a subtle sign of how she settled into something like contentment now that she was in motion. RE: and every night my mind is running around her - Kemal - October 20, 2025 Mature Content WarningThe participants have indicated the following reason(s) for this warning: Kemal thinks about banging Serein, and his dead wife. Gross. It had been a long seven days, filled with regret and pleasure all the same. Sometimes he would think of Narin, but the sudden empty feeling that followed (for both of them, but not in the same way) told him he had to save the mourning for after. His eyes flickered open in time to see her skirting away, and reality hit like the heavy hoof of a bull elk. Children could be coming. Had he even sworn her into the omerta yet, provided her a task? He hopped to his feet, following after her. Serein, where are you going? RE: [m] and every night my mind is running around her - Serein - October 20, 2025 She only slowed a little, one ear flicking in acknowledgement of Kemal's presence at her back. To find a den,Serein answered simply. She didn't look up. From afar the mesa seemed an impenetrable monolith, but as she swept round the outskirts of it now, Serein spotted places where the mountainside opened. She didn't veer toward any of those wide-mouthed caves, though. Instead she kept moving, crossing the swift southeastern waterway without a moment's pause. The opening she slipped into was nearly invisible from afar. Just a narrow, dark entrance into the mountainside. But she could smell the wet rock and the deep green scent of moss wafting from within. Serein ducked her head and wiggled through, the stone just barely whispering against her fur on either side. Enough space for even a wolf of Kemal's size to squeeze through, just barely. The narrow mouth opened a few feet in. The cave was small and quiet, empty except for a few scattered bones of long-dead critters. Water trickled thinly down one stone wall, and even in the darkness it gleamed green with wet moss. Serein turned a few tight circles in the space, then rubbed her shoulder against one of the dry walls, marking it as her own. RE: [m] and every night my mind is running around her - Kemal - October 20, 2025 To find a den. Alright. I'll go with you. I need to swear you into the omerta this morning, our code of silence. He clicked his tongue, It should have been done the morning after you joined. He followed close after, but did not walk next to her. When Serein slipped into a narrow passage, Kemal immediately felt wary. Would he fit? Pushing out a breath, he squeezed himself inside with a surprising amount of ease. RE: [m] and every night my mind is running around her - Serein - October 20, 2025 Omerta. She turned the word over in her mind as she rubbed her fur along the stone walls. Silence,Serein repeated quietly, dark eyes finding Kemal. Why silence? What are you? Perhaps she should have asked before agreeing to bear his children. Serein didn't look away from him, though. She was unblinking, unflinching; perfectly still in the darkness, breath held, heart racing. RE: [m] and every night my mind is running around her - Kemal - October 20, 2025 Our code. We do not speak of what happens in Verapaz outside of our borders. It was sounded scarier than it was, really. Silence in the face of enemies is loyalty. You will complete a joining task as well.. but I will wait until you pick a den.He frowns, eyes watching dark walls. He had never been one for dark dens, though he understood the need for them when puppies were young. Do you like this one? The task he had in mind for Serein was decided long before she ever came to him. If she were to be a countess, well.. she would need to do the work of one. RE: [m] and every night my mind is running around her - Serein - October 20, 2025 She let out a breath, but she wasn't quite soothed by his explanation. What was it that went on within the borders that required such secrecy? What enemies did they have? Serein let her gaze linger on Kemal only a moment longer. Then she turned back to inspecting the den, muzzle tilting up as she looked toward its uneven stone ceiling. It was dry above, no moss in the cracks. Yes, I like this one,she decided quietly. I don't like to speak with strangers anyway. Serein circled again, this time brushing against Kemal's flank as she moved. She stomped a little, her small paws thudding against the hard dirt. Dry for a long time, she noted by the sound. Except here. She moved a paw to press into the softer, darker earth by the mossy wall. RE: [m] and every night my mind is running around her - Kemal - October 20, 2025 Kemal nodded, but his eyes were still wary. So much could go wrong. I'm going to take care of you, Serein. He promises, albeit somewhat unprompted. Verapaz is a good home.It would be. Soto was at the bottom now, and Kemal refused to become him. You will be promoted to countess after the birth.. but for now, I can give you your task to be promoted to halcon. She would need to take her join task sooner or later, even if Kemal was trying to be soft on her. My mother, she is uh..he clicked his tongue, searching for the words. I think she is forgetting. I want you to spend the day with her, see if she seems safe for travel.. she should be in the mesa now.Serein would have to meet her sooner or later, anyways. RE: [m] and every night my mind is running around her - Serein - October 20, 2025 Her chest felt strangely fluttery and tight when Kemal promised to take care of her. No one had ever said anything like that to her before. Serein only nodded at first — but after a moment, she leaned in to bury her muzzle briefly in his ruff. Then she pulled away, tongue clicking thoughtfully as she took in his next words. What is her name? She asked quietly, gaze drifting toward the narrow tunnel as she considered her task. Is she unhappy? The confusion, it makes them agitated sometimes. There are herbs...She trailed off, eyes still lingering on the path that would take them back to the sunlight. RE: [m] and every night my mind is running around her - Kemal - October 20, 2025 Defne. He responded, matching her gaze as it faced the exit. She seems happy enough.. I don't want to give her medicine yet.He was confident that she didn't need it. She used to know stories, and she used to understand herbs herself. Now all she does is sit by the water.Kemal sighed, shaking his head. She won't say what happened to her, I'm not sure she knows. She needs a woman to talk to.It made sense to him, that his mother would open up to another woman more than her own son. He made his move to slip out of the den, before sticking his head back in. Come find me when you finish, and take your time. |
