laid waste to all your inhibitions - Ezra - October 26, 2025

ezra moves along the sleeping dragon, using the outcropping from the rock face of the peak as brief shelter from the rain. the day is chilly, foreboding of the colder months yet to come. golden gaze draws over the drab, rainy landscape. with his patrol finished, curiosity got the better of him. his exploration was not in the name of self-isolation as it had been time before.

long limbs stretch out before him as he settles into a sphinx-like position; content to wait out the drizzle for the time being.

RE: laid waste to all your inhibitions - Angel Oak - October 27, 2025

She had convalesced for close to three weeks, infection having set in quickly and fiercely once she reached shelter. She could not remember most of this time; who had fed her, who had kept her warm. She assumed it had been Sega, but she was curious about the others that were in this place.

She followed the stranger's scent, still weak, still with a limp, still slightly hollow-eyed. She was hungry, but too tired to hunt. The next best thing was distraction, and she sought it out with dogged determination.

"Hello," she said when she found him, relieved to be in company once more. "I'm Angel. I don't think we've met?"

But she wondered if maybe he'd met her, and she'd merely been delirious at the time.

feel free to assume that he's brought her food or otherwise cared for her, if you like! She hurt her paw and it got infected, but she is freshly okay now.

golden gaze lifts from the grey landscape to the limping figure approaching, surprise drawing his ears to alert atop his skull. hey, greets ezra a bit lamely. he rises to his paws and shifts so that she might join him in seeking shelter from the weather if she wished, before lowering back into a sphinx-like position once more.

ve've met, ezra says with a small smile. you vere pretty out of it, though. nice to officially meet you, the lonestar offers with a small dip of his head. i'm ezra.

Angel didn't waste much time. As soon as she was invited closer, she squeezed herself onto the ledge beside him, her tail whisking until she settled, and the tighter quarters made that uncomfortable. Still, it was a nice view, and warmth began to build between them.

"Oh, have we?" she laughed, a bit embarrassed to think of it. But she was grateful to him even without knowing the full story. He was part of this place, and this place had saved her.

"Angel," she replied, shooting a little smile in his direction before looking back out over the valley. "I hope I didn't say anything too embarrassing," she said, addressing this to the great wide open before them, rather than to his face. "Either way — thank you. I wish I could've made a better first impression, but I'm grateful for the chance to make a second."

Feel free to make something up. She was probably hallucinating for at least part of it.

the space is small and ezra moves as far to the edge as he can to give her the most room, even if it means his legs and parts of his right shoulder and hip were definitely getting wet. it felt like the gentlemanly thing to do: and sharing such tight quarters when they didn't really know one another was a bit awkward.

you said something about the stones vhispering their secrets to you... ezra says with a soft, low chuckle stirring in his chest. but it vasn't too bad. do not vorry. ezra offers in an attempt to reassure her. you vere clearly out of it, i vasn't going to take anything you said to heart.

Rain-wet as she was, Angel wasn't helping Ezra's attempts to keep dry. Being a scout had inured her to the horrors of a damp pelt, though she did still have the sense to seek nominal shelter after her bout of illness.

"I don't remember anything like that," she admitted, shivering due to the spookiness of it more than the cold. It was frightening enough to think about how long she'd spent without awareness. Add in whispering stones? It was starting to sound like a nightmare. "But I suppose that's for the best," she said firmly.

She turned her attention back to Ezra, who probably could remember the last several weeks of his life. And beyond that, of course.

"You have a different accent than Sega," she noted, her tail whisking again in the cramped space. "Have you been with him long?"

Perhaps they were family of some kind — Angel couldn't rule that out. But she was curious about how they'd come together anyway. Was it like her mother and the moon and morning wolves that Angel had grown up alongside?

it is only in the aftermath of his light teasing that ezra considers his words might have unsettled her. small frown tugs at the edges of his lips, sheepish expression nesting upon his features. i vas teasing you..., the stoneson offers, apologetic. maybe humor wasn't his forte — he was still trying to discover who he was outside the grief — a wound that should be old now — and aggressive isolation.

humor might not be apart of it.

a couple of months, answers ezra, taking to her questions out of order. my accent vas my father's. picked up when ezra'd been young, parroting what he'd heard and deciding that he wanted to be just like anselm. the mimicry of the accent had become ingrained him until it became apart of ezra, too.

"Oh," she laughed, embarrassed for falling for that, but relieved all the same. "Do you like to spin stories, then?" she wondered, thinking that he was probably good at it, if he came up with that off the top of his head.

It was no surprise to her that Ezra had only been around here a few months, though she was interested in his words all the same. Talk of a father made her suppose that he had as sad a tale as she did in that department, or worse, since she hadn't scented any fathers lingering around. Just boys, and one women she'd yet to meet. Besides that, the past tense felt rather telling.

"It's nice," she assured him, lest he think she was mocking him. "I'm always jealous of those who grew up learning other languages. I know some seal hunter words, and a little sunshine, but not much else other than common. I asked Sega to teach me some of his."
