correct and magnificent - Miska - November 06, 2025 Some time later, when the valley knew his scent, Miska headed for the coast. The girls were keeping to themselves, much to his dismay, and there was only so much conversation two men could have. Blackbeak Bluff was a sheer drop - there was grass and then there was nothing. Miska enjoyed brutal landscapes. He imagined that a cruel god had fashioned traps all over the world to catch the careless off-guard and watch as they were crushed and skewered. The inky black wolf peered over the edge at the angry sea below and wondered how many wolves had met their end there. RE: correct and magnificent - Tusakruŋa - November 06, 2025 before long runa returned to the environment that made the most sense to her. longing filled her—a desire to go to the sea and be embraced by it, to clean the strangeness of the forest from her body, and drift.. to be a speck of emptiness floating upon the great wide ocean, which was one of her favorite things! this place was too high for such a game. she watched the gulls careening overhead, eyeing them with such intensity it was a wonder their little hearts did not rupture, or they did not fall plummeting to the sea with that focused stare. more than once runa had been tempted to run and leap from these cliffs—just to see what all the fuss was about, since the birds loved to fly so much—but her survival instinct was much stronger than any recklessness that plagued her. as she meandered closer, she thought she spied a dark shape—maybe her mother, more than likely a stranger. here in this place she felt the most powerful, and so she did not hide immediately. neither did the girl welcome them with any sound, however. RE: correct and magnificent - Miska - November 06, 2025 There was a prickling at the back of Miska's neck. When he turned around, the dark silhouette of his younger self stared back at him, like a ghost summoned to judge his progress through life so far. Miska grinned wide; a frightening display of thick, yellowed canines. He was proud of every second. "You want try push Miska, small baby?" he called. "You come close. We play." Perhaps he would get to see meat on the ocean's black teeth. RE: correct and magnificent - Tusakruŋa - November 06, 2025 the stranger spoke; it was rare for runa to encounter other people, rarer still for them to use words, so she listened because that was the only thing to do. she didn't run, and didn't say anything back — one might wonder if she'd ever been taught to, and well... no, not to her knowledge. the tone of his voice was playful, kind-of. it was a deep voice, which she found appealing. the way he grinned was... hard to parse, though. malicious? they were teeth. malicious but... inviting? she began to stalk closer. that's how runa always moved: stalking, slinking, she'd slither if she ever lost her legs. dainty quick-steps, for now. circling a bit too, for good measure. she did not want to turn her back on him or put herself between the stranger and the cliff — she was quiet, not stupid. her nostrils gave a flare, and she looked askew between the man and their surroundings as if to silently ask, where did he come from? the only answer came from a high gull, cackling as it fled. RE: correct and magnificent - Miska - November 07, 2025 The skinny thing crept closer. A mute, but not so much an imbecile that she did not recognise danger. She gave him a questioning look. Miska imagined that he saw a glimmer of intelligence. The great black wolf lowered his head and and took a few slow steps in the girl's direction, using a sized-up version of her own cat-like creep. House cat and lion. He licked his lips – and suddenly rushed forward with the intent to scare or spook. There was plenty of time to play. RE: correct and magnificent - Tusakruŋa - November 10, 2025 as the bird vanished, runa's attention was upon the man - who happened to have strolled closer, and so it was a good thing she paid attention. when he rushed forward she did what came naturally and skittered backwards, arcing in a crescent so that she could keep him in her sights but afford greater distance; still, she did not run, and eased to a stalking, then a watching, as he stopped and pulled back himself. he had made no move to grab for her. hinging her jaw, she released some tension with a wiiiide flash of yellowed teeth, and boldly began to prowl close again. as nobody had ever struck her - there had never been enough bodies in these wilds for runa to be even remotely socialized, for better or worse - the prospect of being caught, or cut, or bloodied, was not a possibility she entertained. but the little rush had been thrilling. RE: correct and magnificent - Miska - November 23, 2025 He faux-lunged - she scuttled back and showed teeth, but did not run. The precariousness of her situation did not seem to register. Miska sat back on his haunches for a moment and made a show of chuckling, let her prowl closer, opened his mouth as if to say something - - and then propelled himself forward, this time with every intention of catching something in his snapping jaws. |
