where the north wind meets the sea - Elowyn - December 02, 2025

Elowyn, as she so enjoyed, found her way to the river and knelt her head to take a sip, drinking in the cold water before walking along the edge, carefully. It reminded her of her home and her siblings.

It was too cold to go for a swim, but she considered it. Just the thought of it made her shiver. After a bit, she stopped and looked at the water. As if to test it, she dipped a toe into it and pulled it out quickly, visibly shivering from the thought of her whole body being in the water.

RE: where the north wind meets the sea - Ravah - December 02, 2025

the silver she-wolf steps from between the trees with an easy, steady gait, paws crunching lightly over the frozen riverbank. she had been circling the valley, learning its smells, its turns, its borders. only when she was thoroughly pleased did she allow herself a moment of relaxation.

here, she had planned to stop and lounge for a bit. even in the nippy winter cold, the sun still shone brightly upon the river’s clear edge. but, ravah’s attention is caught by another woman, smelling too of the pack.

a friendly face?

she stops a few paces off, with observing eyes flicking from the girl’s wet paw to the river’s dark surface.

too cold, ravah hums with a gesture of her head to the river’s waters.

ravah steps to the edge herself, leans down, and touches the tip of her nose to the water. she pulls back just as quickly, breath puffing out sharp at the sting.

mm, no swim. ravah laughs lightly, almost melodic, then raises her eyes to look at the other woman. i ravah. you…?

Elowyn hadn't expected anyone else to be around, but another she-wolf approached the river without the young wolf even realizing, until she spoke.

"It is too cold," Elowyn said, her tail flicking. She watched as the other wolf put her nose to the water, and then drew back quickly. The younger wolf nodded in agreement at not swimming in the river.

"It's good to meet you, Ravah," she said. "I am Elowyn. Are you a part of Great Sky?"

RE: where the north wind meets the sea - Ravah - December 03, 2025

some names could be so difficult to enunciate upon her and sega's accent. yet from sound alone, she could tell that her friend—and now, chieftain—had begun to get better with the common tongue.

elowyn. ravah repeats back, to make sure that she is saying it right. pretty... what call you.

she had much catching up to do.

either way, ravah smiles warmly at the other girl, while she reaches with a paw to unearth some snow from the river's edge. beneath, a piece of bitterroot that yet still persists despite the increasing cold of the season.

she plucks it with her teeth and moves towards the girl, reaching tenderly—having first paused to silently ask permission—to push it into the plush coat of her neck. just beneath her ear. there. beautiful. ravah chuffs warmly.

her question results in the angling of ravah's ears and a swish of her tail.

yes. ravah says. you liking sega?

she would not disclose her reasoning for asking! but it hadn't went amiss by the woman that her childhood friend and chief was wifeless. perhaps she would take it upon herself to play cupid.

RE: where the north wind meets the sea - Elowyn - December 03, 2025

Elowyn's lips curled into a small smile. "Ravah is a pretty name as well," she said, lowering her head as if nodding. She watched as the other wolf pulled up a piece of bitterroot and walked toward her with it. She gave another nod as the she-wolf paused to ask for permission.

"Thank you," she said. "That's very sweet of you."

Then, the wolf asked about Sega. "Oh, Sega is very nice. He's been sweet to me, and my friend," she said. "My friend got here before me and was injured and he healed her. And he helped me out of a little bind as well. He's pretty great. What do you think of him?"

at this, ravah cannot help the amused smile which twitches into the corners of her mouth. no matter what sega said—that covah was dead—ravah knew otherwise.

he was still just as kind-hearted, if only a little more guarded. going out of his way to help others. so noble, so gallant!

mmm, ravah hums softly, moving to brush past elowyn. walking along the river's side edge now, her silvered gaze turning over her shoulder to beckon her along. i growing up by him. the woman says.

tail swishing at her hocks, her gait is leisurely now, though at all times it is light and gathered. the muscles of a seasoned huntress shifting beneath that pale coat, a sheen blessed by the fair winter of the open plains. weird now see him as leader. but happy.

ravah looks to her. you young. an observation, though something else glitters in her eyes. thinking to take husband?

oh, ravah. ever so blunt.

RE: where the north wind meets the sea - Elowyn - December 03, 2025

"Oh, interesting!" A hint of excitement hit Elowyn's voice. This wolf knew Sega. From a young age, it seemed. She followed along the rivers edge just behind Ravah. "What was he like then?" she asked, curious about him.

Ravah asked a question that Elowyn wasn't expecting. "I hadn't thought much about it, but I suppose I will, sometime," she said, her tail flicking happily. "I just haven't found one yet."

RE: where the north wind meets the sea - Ravah - December 03, 2025

she asks about sega, and ravah's eyes glimmer in thought.

hm, she hums, and then sighs loftily. tail knocking against her hocks as she walks alongside the smaller girl, and then a smile as she begins to regale.

she laughs. stupid. it is not meant to be an insult, but rather stemming from ravah's limited common vocabulary. still... it wasn't all that untrue! talking lot with village girls, but all good thinks. it is meant to be an assurity, if by any chance elowyn did have any interest in her leader friend.

and he good. good heart. strong soul. tashēn chieftain in big sky his uncle, but he have no son, so he teach to sega what he knowing.

ravah rolls her eyes at the thought. i always thinking that they doomed.

in a way, they had been. but for completely different reasons than what ravah ever thought, and what a grim thing it had been. when the bands of big sky had been attacked; the day sega's uncle died... she had wished he had been there. some gullible hope that he could have stopped it.

ravah pauses then and looks to elowyn. really, truly, looks to her. the soft cinnamon of her fur and the pale of her legs, the youth that glows upon her nature. and the older huntress nudges her with a friendly shoulder.

any hunter be glad to take nice wife in you.

Elowyn laughed at Ravah's description of Sega. "So far, I really like him. He's been a good leader of the pack. Very kind to me and my friend, Angel." She nodded as she spoke. "He seems really good. I can see that good heart that you see."

She chuckled a bit at Ravah's last statement. "I hope so. It would be nice to find someone someday." She seemed thoughtful, as if she were considering her options.
