From the precipice - Pala - December 09, 2025
Pala had never been able to understand why life dealt her such a miserable hand. Her moral compass was set right, she always stayed on the path, always did what she thought she was meant to. Maybe that was the problem.
After her conversation with Dutch, she had spent the following two days alone. Having felt the presence of another so recently, the silence was nearly deafening. She had nowhere she was going, no home to call back to, she was a wanderer.
There was nothing she hated more than wandering.
Climbing through the lower levels of a mountain, Pala had chose to pretend she was home. She would finish a days work and ascend the mountain, greet her son and sit with her family until dark.
But she knew none of that was real, not here.
