color me blue - Mada - December 19, 2025 The snow had stopped. That was a small mercy. Mada had followed a stream north, and now sat in front of a gorgeous, albeit freezing cold, lake. She was nervous, as she had scented quite a few wolves and knew she had entered into somewhat occupied land. She hadn't seen another of her kind in ages, not since leaving her homeland far south of here. Though not a skilled fisherwoman, she decided to try her luck at the mouth of one of the streams that fed into the lake. After several failed attempts, she sunk her teeth into the cold flesh of a greenish-silver fish and dragged it into the snow, eating with her eyes trained upwards to watch for others. RE: color me blue - Cinar - December 19, 2025 Cinar had left the caldera for the first time in weeks. The air was still so gloomy there, he needed a breather. Heading out to Lake Rodney, he was surprised to see a stranger in the snow. Most wolves had holed up in a pack for the winter for fear they might freeze, and even less were willing to try their hand at fishing. Curious, he howled out to her; low, friendly. Maybe it was another one of the Redhawks trying to pass through — they wouldn't be the first, and Towhee could probably use the boost. RE: color me blue - Mada - December 19, 2025 The howl startled her, but she maintained composure. Her head raised slightly, ears perking up. She studied the wolf in front of her. He seemed friendly enough --- that is, he wasn't actively attacking her. She shivered, both from the cold (perhaps fishing had been a bad idea) and the thought of violence. But again, the stranger seemed friendly. Maybe he could tell her where she was, help her orient herself. Done with her fish, she stepped forward and returned a friendly howl, eyes on the other wolf.
