A neighborly day for a beauty. - RIP Njal - January 05, 2015

He's stationed by the north boundary. This is pretty soon after his previous thread, where he hits the wetlands. Anyone can intercept!

The mountains loomed before him, and he felt nothing for them but hatred. They weren't his mountains though, so the sensation wasn't as concentrated. Njal had managed to navigate through the frozen wetlands with ease - as if he had never left the creekside pack to begin with - but as soon as he neared the edge of the territory, he would go no further. The scent of Scimitar lingered in various patches; Scimitar, Bazi, an assortment of alien scents. It was familiar while being completely unfamiliar.

The gray beast idly wandered in the no-mans-land that was the edge of the claim; the area that placed Njal in safety among the wilderness. After a bit of nosing around, he finally stopped and lifted his head - but he didn't howl. If he did that, the sound would surely carry farther, and everyone would know where he was. Not just Swiftcurrent. Tuwawi would know, the Sunspire, potential threats to the glacier... Even now when Njal wanted nothing more than to distract himself from all of that, he protected them.

All that emerged was a heavy breath of condensation, and soon enough that dissipated too. Rethinking his actions, Njal slouched, and then he began to head east towards the cliffs and the coast. Perhaps saying hello here would be too painful - and raise too many questions.

RE: A neighborly day for a beauty. - Scimitar - January 07, 2015

Scimitar was restless these days – Paarthurnax’s puppies grew steadily, and the scent of Shadow had faded from his borders. At least the Roman had been true to his words to take his leave after their birthing, but soon he would return, demanding for his first visit with them outside of pack borders. The cinnamon male held no control over that, nor did he feel the entitlement to – if the crimson she-wolf wanted the madman in the lives of her children, it was a decision she could make.. and he was not going to remind her how poor her past decisions had been.

Instead, he desired nothing more than to begin exploration for a new home. He did not believe such a thought to be unobtainable – moving the Creek wolves would be the best for them all, and a fresh start was what they all needed. But it was Neverwinter Forest that clung to his heart, and that in itself was the unobtainable, especially with a pack of wolves bordering the forests.

A distraction pulled him from his reverie in the form of a teasingly familiar scent. His own creamy paws thrummed the earth as he made his way to Creek lands, yet as his muzzle lifted a notch to investigate further, he could not place the smell until Njal’s familiar form came upon him. The man was stepping toward the mountains and coast, and blinking, the Frostfur was almost tempted to let him go without word. After all, the silver beast and his wife had seen no qualm in abandoning Bazi the moment she required them the most – but it was the fiery she-wolf he was more enraged at, rather than her grayscale mate.

Ushering a soft woof, Scimitar paused, his own stance stilling, ears cupped forward and his tail waving proudly. If Njal wished to speak, he could do so – if he wanted to continue, the option was also there – there was still enough distance between them.

On my phone so please excuse mistakes!

He was prepared to continue on his way, to march beyond the frozen wetlands and seek solace upon the coast, but his momentary sentimentality caught the attention of someone - no doubt, whoever controlled the Swiftcurrent lands hsd placed worthy guards upon the borders. Njal was reminded briefly of the Sunspire pack, but his thoughts did not go far before he heated the call of another.

Their deep bark was not returned with any fervor; Njal turned a tired expression upon the approaching stranger, and recognition arrived. Scimitar, of course. But Njal had no words for him. He did not wish to reveal his reasons for being upon the young man's doorstep, and really.. He did not want to interact with him at all.

Sorry.. Not in Scim's nature to trek down another to interact when they show they don't want it.. we might be in for a short thread, haha. <3

Njal turned to him – the look he received could have been defined as haunted, and while it would have been one that drew worry from the cinnamon wolf to his former pack mate so long ago, he found it stirred no emotion in his chest. He had once looked up to the man – at least until the day his redheaded mate had taken to sideswiping Bazi’s victory with her own tactic to inform the pack they were leaving – taking everything Bazi had loved and stealing away in to the night.

When the other made no move to make contact with him, or even show any interest, the Frostfur held himself to a rooted position – he was not going to seek down the wolf and make niceties when no encouragement shown. And so, the Alpha maintained watch on his land, waiting for Njal to turn and leave.

He had done it once before, after all.

When Njal simply turned to continue on his way, the Frostfur would wait until the other was out of sight -- only then would he turn his own back upon hs once-comrade.
