into the calm and the quiet - Runt - January 05, 2015 i just realized this the last thread title i can use... I used the whole song for thread titles. I dunno what I'll name my threads now lol. Tell if I imagined the clearing wrong @Wyeth
Runt paced restlessly around the sandy clearing. It was surrounded by the stone walls of the gorge as well as some boulders, especially on one side. Near it's edges grass sprouted up, leading to more grassy areas nearby. When they'd first found it there had been a few sticks and dead leaves on the ground, but she had cleared them towards the edges to make sure nobody tripped while fighting or something. Her eyes narrowed as she paced. She wanted to practice! She let a soft howl requesting a spar partner rip across the gorge, bouncing off the stone walls. RE: into the calm and the quiet - Wyeth - January 06, 2015 xD, nope, the clearing sounds just as I imagined it :)
The clearing was a perfect place to spar, the sand would soften the fall if one of them ever lost their balance and it was a good place to train. The boulders and stone walls the gorge provided were useful in case someone decided to barge in and interrupt their training, it was also useful to make sure they had a designated area for sparring. So they wouldn't keep running and fighting, and end up running around the whole of the Gorge. That happened to him once and by the end of it, Wyeth felt like he trained for running instead of fighting. That day, he did not have evening meal, his trainer disapproved of his partner and himself's antics and punished him. But he wasn't cruel and the next morning, they were allowed to eat once more. He would be lying if he said he didn't miss the life of his second pack, the warrior pack or his natal pack's life. But once again, the future held many things. Good and bad. Wyeth had been checking out on of the caves in the ravine walls, figuring out the secret tunnels and where they were, where they led. Memorising which tunnel led to which cave was hard work and more than once, he went to the wrong cave. Cursing in another language under his breath, the cinnamon agouti doubled back, checked his memory and was about to start his 5938475728374626484937th try through the tunnels when a familiar howl caught his attention. Usually if it was some other packmate like Riko or someone else, he would think before answering but he recognised the voice. It was Runt, and Tigerheart did promise to spar with her after all. Gazing around the area he was in, the warrior took in everything he saw and made sure he could come back here later after he sparred with Runt. Knowing she was probably in the hollow they found together, and from the source of the howl, Wyeth quickened his pace and since he was not too far from the sparring clearing, he soon arrived. Runt was pacing around the clearing, the sticks and leaves on the ground had been cleared away but other than that, everything was the same. Tigerheart chuffed softly in greeting and strode into the hollow gracefully and silently, If that ankle's hurting or anything, just tell me and we'll stop.he informed her. A smile twitched at his lips immediately after he said those words, knowing she probably wouldn't tell him. RE: into the calm and the quiet - Runt - January 06, 2015 dice rolls or T1?
Runt looked up, her eyes wild. Adrenaline rushed hrough her blood. "Yeah, Sure, I'll tell ya." Of course she wouldn't. Why would she ever admit weakness to her mentor? She was here to learn, not to be looked down upon for weakness. "Ready?" She said with a toothy grin, her green eyes glinting. The moment he announced his answer, she would begin the fight. Although he might get first leap. But she would make sure to win, of course. She had to impress him, he was her mentor and this was his first time seeing her fight. He couldn't watch her lose again. Funny how in the Wilds she lost all her fights, but back in the North with the help of two other teens she had been able to kill the beta male. But he couldn't know that. Nobody could know that. They would judge her for being a killer, even if it was to a good cause. RE: into the calm and the quiet - Wyeth - January 08, 2015 T1 if ya don't mind
Runt's bright eyes were wild, he could see she was full of energy and ready for a fight, "Yeah, Sure, I'll tell ya." she said. Wyeth knew how little ones felt, they didn't like being weak and they didn't like admitting failure, so he made no comment but made a mental note in his head to keep an eye out for her. He did not need an angry and maddened Mara at his heels when she worsened her anger because of the spar she had with him, he did not need to get kicked out of Whitewater Gorge before it was even formed. Watching the girl carefully, he spoke Yes, come at me.Wyeth began moving around the sparring arena, circling his opponent which was the tawny Juvenile, Runt. Even with the energetic spirit the young girl had, her wounded ankle would bring her down and though she probably had experience with fighting, he had lived longer than her and had more experience. So he was sure he would be able to win, and he had to win, to show her she wasn't invulnerable, to show her she was beatable and not be afraid of losing. But to embrace it and learn form his mistakes. RE: into the calm and the quiet - Runt - January 10, 2015 With Wyeth's next words she said nothing more. Runt leaped fiercely and suddenly, her sharp fangs bared. She aimed for his neck, but of course she wouldn't draw blood if the attack connected. Despite the excellent training she had gotten, it was only excellent for a slave. There were limits to what the regulars would teach the measly little servants. She didn't know everything she could have known about fighting. Luckily, that was why Tigerheart was here. To teach her to fight. RE: into the calm and the quiet - Wyeth - January 22, 2015 Wyeth continued circling as Runt leaped at him, fangs bared and aiming for his neck. The cinnamon agouti anticipated the attack and sidestepped at the last moment, immediately aiming for her left forepaw a moment later. Giving her less time to adjust or stabilise herself again. It was a skill she would have to learn, the always be balanced at all times, if you weren't balanced, the chances of you falling flat on your face and dying quickly was higher. And Wyeth sure did not want Runt dying such a pathetic and dishonourable death. Tigerheart did not speak but continued circling, keen olive eyes analyzing her every movement, calculating her, remembering the style she fought with and coming up with strategies to overcome. She was weaker than most opponents he fought but that did not mean he could lower his guard. Is that all you've got?he spoke, taunting her, goading her to attack and make a mistake. RE: into the calm and the quiet - Runt - January 24, 2015 The runt was a little dissapointed when her attack missed, although it was to be expected, especially with someone as experienced as Wyeth. She wildly shook her forepaw, his attack only seeming to dig deeper in with each struggle, but she yanked her paw out from his fangs with a pained little yelp. Runt didn't let his taunt throw her off guard or make her attack quickly, although her next attack was clumsy, as none of her attacks were that great. Runt leaped, aiming towards his tail. Sure, it wasn't vital, but a good hard tug on it with your fangs hurt. It hurt even more if your tail was torn off, but of course she wouldn't do that. An image flashed in her mind, frozen in time, an image of Jupiter's tail in mid-tear. About to be viciously ripped off, spraying blood on everyone. She shook her head slightly, trying to forget it. If her fangs landed, she would bite into his tail and give it a tug. |
