The Story Of Life [PACK HUNT] - Bindi - February 13, 2015

@FitzDutiful, @Tempest, @Raissa, @Copper, @Jensen. First round ends on the 17th or until everyone participates!

Bindi was tired of eating small game, or from the caches. The pack had not hunted together yet, but the time has come. Since discovering the herd of caribou, the midnight wolfess had been tracking them. Just ten minutes ago she was hot on their trail, but broke away, to call for the pack. It was time, the pack would hunt together and share a proper meal.

With her head high she released her call for the pack, letting it roam over the territory.
Today we hunt together, as one.

She prayed that someone would show, even if it was only one member. They were still a small pack, however each and everyday the weak female caribou grew tired, and slow. Spring was near, and even though there was a slim possibility, the female caribou could regain health, if she did survive, it would be much harder to take her down in a hunt. The midnight wolfess would not allow it, she would feast today along with any loyal member willing to show up.

Hard wind shifted her fur, and the clouds blocked any sunlight. The light fog that surrounded the obsidian female would make for good cover when hunting. Bindi wanted to gain her gamekeeper trade, it would be a miracle if she did. Warden, and gamekeeper at the same time, now that would be something. Nevertheless her focus was elsewhere, and she waited for any packmates to join her.

RE: The Story Of Life [PACK HUNT] - Tempest - February 13, 2015

As the eerie howl rent the still fog, Tempest immediately made her way toward it through the fog. Fog, it seemed, was her favorite type of weather. There was an element of mystery to it, and it seemed to swallow the wolves like a thick blanket. Yes, Tempest liked fog.

Through it's strange embrace she loped, green eyes the only thing visible in the skeletal landscape, her pelt blending in with the fog. soon, she appeared beside the black fae, and greeted her with a nod. "What shall we hunt today, huntress?" She gave a small smile at the nickname, but her eyes were scanning the caribou. Green eyes locked onto the female, and Tempest growled softly. Dinner.

RE: The Story Of Life [PACK HUNT] - Raissa - February 13, 2015

Raissa lifted her head to the sound of a packmate's call and she immediately responded, loping towards the voice at a medium pace. Even though she was in heat, she could still help keep the pack healthy. She soon reached the place where the voice drifted from and spotted Bindi and Tempest. She trotted over to them, a light smile on her face, ready to respond to what they were doing.

RE: The Story Of Life [PACK HUNT] - FitzDutiful - February 14, 2015

From his vantage point of watching Raissa - something he did more so now she was in heat - he saw her respond to Bindi's call of a pack hunt. FitzDutiful had recently given her leave to run a pack hunt after Jensen had joined and he had deemed they had enough members to pull it off. If, heaven forbid, anyone was injured there were still enough wolves to carry on while they recovered.

Seeing Raissa go and join made up his mind for him. There was a chance both Copper and Jensen would participate and he was not allowing them near Raissa. As he approached the waiting she-wolves, he wondered if Raissa realised how much of a distraction she could be to the males of the pack. Then he remembered that Copper and Jensen were both too young to have reached sexual maturity. No, it would just be he who was distracted on this day.

Determined to try and be otherwise, he stood protectively by Raissa but awaited Bindi's lead.

RE: The Story Of Life [PACK HUNT] - Copper - February 14, 2015

A howl filled the air, suddenly, but surely. Copper trotted to the scene, taking his time. He still felt uncomfortable around Bindi. She was weird. When Copper showed up, he saw that he was one of the last on the scene. What were you gonna do, right?

Suddenly, an alluring scent filled the air. He looked over at Raissa. The scent was coming from her.
And he liked it.
Copper strolled over, and sat a respectable distance from the female, but still close anough so he could get that-that beautiful, alluring scent. He then tuned in slightly into what Bindi was talking about. Not that he gave a rat's ass, but it might be useful for the pack. He would play the fool, for now.

RE: The Story Of Life [PACK HUNT] - Jensen - February 15, 2015

Jensen, on the other hand, couldn't be bothered about the woman's scent. So what? She smelled nice. So did trees, if the barked was peeled away. A nice, piney, rugged scent. Flowers smelled nice, too, in small doses.. so he simply couldn't comprehend all the fuss about it. Good thing, too, because it seemed the other men were already on edge about it; Raissa didn't need another drooling mutt on her tail.

The eta rolled his neck as he approached, lumbering up and flexing his muscles for the task at hand. His first pack hunt, hooray! "Hallo, folks. Jensen, for those who don't know. Nice to see you all again." His manners in check, the lowest ranked member of the pack kept his tail low and refrained from making any signs of dominance. He gave a quick glance to the alpha and gave a brief wag of his tail, happy to see the man out and about before settling back into hunt mode.

RE: The Story Of Life [PACK HUNT] - Bindi - February 16, 2015

Great activity everyone! I rolled here and it was a Success! Next round begins once everyone participates, so don't feel rushed! Btw this is a really long post XD! Also there is a post order to avoid confusion <3

Bindi watched as her packmates answered her call, and she greeted all of them with a smile. The first to come was Tempest, she had proved that she was an able huntress due to the rabbit she caught. Now it was time to see if she could catch big game. It was hard to see through the fog, but the obsidian female could make out a few more wolves that joined for hunt. The next to respond, and join in the hunt was Raissa. The midnight wolfess could tell she was in heat, and she started to wonder if she could really be any useful. Not only would she distract the male wolves, but could other male creatures sense her heat, or was it only a wolf thing. Nevertheless she came to help, so Bindi would respect that.

Fitz came into veiw not long after Raissa, and the obsidian female gave a nod of her head in respect, and also as a little thank you for him allowing her to host a pack hunt. She hoped he wouldn't be to distracted by Raissa, but honestly she couldn't blame him or any other male, it was nature. Next to enter the scene was Copper, and Bindi couldn't help but smile, even though she didn't really like him. He was a tiny wolf, and was smaller than the midnight wolfess herself. However she knew that they could use his small size for good. It seems Copper is effected by Raissa's heat, so Bindi wasn't really sure if he would be useful at all. Finally, the last to respond to the call was Jensen. The midnight wolfess still didn't know much about him, but she was glad he was not distracted by Raissa.

Bindi has taken about everything into consideration, and made a plan that would hopefully work. The wolves would split into three groups, Copper and Bindi, Fitz and Tempest, and Raissa and Jensen. She would put Copper with her due to his distraction with Raissa, and put Jensen with the tri-colored female since he didn't seem bothered at all. Tempest and Copper will chase away the other caribou to separate the weak female from the herd, while Bindi and Fitz attack from the left and right side. Jensen using his weight will bring the animal to the ground, with the help of Fitz and Bindi, while Raissa goes in for the throat to end the animals life. It all seemed to work in the midnight wolfess's mind, so she announced her plan to the pack.

"Thank you for coming everyone, there is a herd of caribou up ahead, and in the very back of the herd there is a weak female, she is our target" she said and took a deep breath before explaining her plan. "Tempest and Fitz, you two will attack from the right side, Jensen and Raissa, you two will attack from the back, Copper and me will attack from the left" she said and looked around to see if she had everyone's attention. "Now everyone listen up, this is the important part. Tempest and Copper will chase away the rest of the herd, while Fitz and myself attack from the left and right side" she said and looked around to see if anyone had questions before continuing. "Jensen, you will attack from the back and bring the animal down using your weight, and Raissa hold back until the animal has been taken down, and then go for its throat" she finished of explaining with a nod. "Anyone have any questions" she asked almost positive someone was confused by her.

RE: The Story Of Life [PACK HUNT] - Copper - February 17, 2015

Copper nodded his head. For a unpredictable personality, Bindi sure did make good plans. It was a tad complicated though. He was supposed to diverge to herd the deer when? Copper didn't feel like asking that question out loud, and just hoped someone was confused as he was. Copper was adapting. Evolving. His paws were becoming rougher, and his winter coat was becoming thicker, and wasn't showing signs of shedding, with the coming spring.

Copper suddenly felt a question growing inside him. Why did Bindi choose him as her partner? Probably to keep him from Raissa. But her motherly nature made him like her in a maternal way. He couldn't really imagine that sort of stuff. He didn't see himself being a mate to any of his packmates. Maybe with time, Copper thought to himself. He would love to mentor his own little mountain prince. But once again, with time.

He picked himself, and walked a small distance toward Bindi, one, to hear her speak, and two, so it wasn't a hassle to group quickly.

RE: The Story Of Life [PACK HUNT] - FitzDutiful - February 26, 2015

Don't want this to get too old, so free for all. Bindi, start the next round on March 3 as that will have been two weeks.

FitzDutiful was not having another male with his mate. Jensen may not 22 months old yet but that was beyond the point. Rational thought wasn't with FitzDutiful when it came to Raissa. It wasn't about him being distracted and unable to attack the herd, it was the distraction of other masculine wolves near his precious Jewel. "The plan is good," he responded gruffly, "But either Raissa comes with me, and Tempest with Jensen. Or Jensen is with me and Raissa with Tempest. He didn't care which way around it went as long as another male didn't have any time alone with Raissa. Those puppies would be his and his alone.

If Bindi wanted Jensen's weight at the back then he could stay there, that was fine. Raissa could perform her function from either position and so could Tempest, but if Bindi wanted them there for a reason then they were perfectly capable of swapping jobs. FitzDutiful would prefer that they didn't for then Copper and Raissa would be together. It was a bit of a logistical nightmare.

If Jensen took FitzDutiful's position of the flank - that was probably the quickest and easiest change, but that option didn't occur to the white male.

RE: The Story Of Life [PACK HUNT] - Bindi - March 04, 2015

Since the others didn't post, I'm assuming they agreed with Bindi's plan. Since many of the others didn't post I'm going to go strait to the hunt in this round. Next round begins on the 7th.

Everyone seemed fine with the plan, except Fitz. Bindi wanted to growl at him, but kept her cool. Everything would work out fine if they just stuck to her plan, but no, Fitz had to disagree. She understands he doesn't want another male near Raissa, but Bindi doubts Jensen and Riassa will have time mate when hunting and not go unnoticed.

She wanted a male and a female in each group and so the choice for her was clear. "Fine" she said angrily, "Jensen and Fitz switch" she said and wanted to add on some other unnecessary comments but didn't. She watched the Caribou and got low to the ground using the fog for cover. She turned around one last time to tell them the signal to attack "when you here my bark, attack" she said and quietly moved into her position.

She hoped none of the Caribou could smell them and she gave some time for her pack mates to get in position. She took a deep breath before letting out a bark and waited for Tempest and Copper to go after the herd before she went herself. She prayed that everyone would stay safe and hopefully that everything would go according to plan.

RE: The Story Of Life [PACK HUNT] - FitzDutiful - March 06, 2015

He felt pleased that Bindi had listened and changed around the teams. He failed to notice that she wasn't particularly pleased at the arrangements. As the teams set off, stalking from the starting position to their various places that they needed to be, he stayed close by the Raissa. All he wanted to do was attempt to make puppies but, if any were to come to fruit, they required food. Now was feeding time later would be puppy making times.

They arrived in position and FitzDutiful had to fight to keep his attention on the hunt instead of on Raissa. At some points he wished she had stayed behind, out of trouble, while the pack did their duties. But then the reprimanded himself, wondering if it was unreasonable to expect a female to do such things.

Finally the bark went up. FitzDutiful sprang to attention, hoping the wind wouldn't change. He had only just positioned her out of his immediate line of smell. He waited for Tempest and Copper to chase away most of the herd, keeping back and out of the way as they moved the majority off.

He tried to keep his eyes out for the one that was left, waiting until Bindi and Jensen attacked before launching himself on the rump of the Caribou. It was a dangerous position and FitzDutiful was almost hit by a hoof. He prayed Raissa would take the killing shot soon before one of these legs did connect.

RE: The Story Of Life [PACK HUNT] - Bindi - March 20, 2015

Im going to PP Raissa and the rest of them so that everything goes according to plan. If you want me to change anything, let me know! This is the last round!

She watched as the rest of her pack-mates did exactly what they were told, and surprisingly it seemed everything was going to end well. She was able to get a hold of the animal's hind leg while Jensen drug the animal to the ground. The caribou continued to kick and buck, but eventually Raissa made the final blow which ended the animal's life. Letting go of the hind leg, Bindi let a few pants out and looked around to see if everyone was ok. It seemed all were well, and she gave a nod to Fitz letting him know he could eat first since he was alpha.

Once Fitz had a full stomach she would give a nod to everyone else letting them know they may now eat. Bindi would eat last, as it was a tradition in her last pack that whoever leads the hunt, would have a go at the animal last. She sat down letting her pack-mates enjoy the hard earned meal. She was proud of herself for leading the first pack hunt, and was extremely grateful it was a success.

RE: The Story Of Life [PACK HUNT] - FitzDutiful - March 20, 2015

Edit: archiving this march 24th

It was close, too close, as a hoof grazed his side. He avoided letting out a whimper in pain as the adrenaline was running through him, stopping the pain that would kick in after the fight. The caribou went down and the wolves stood around panting for a while, waiting for him to take the first bite. Him, the alpha.

He looked around his little band of hunters, proud of each and every one of them. For the first time in this hunt Raissa's scent didn't drive him crazy, the fresh blood and the scent of death excited him more than her current state did. It had been a long time since they had eaten a fresh kill in this way. "Good job everyone!" he said, before tucking into the juiciest part of the prey.

It was a good feeling, being full.
