Fear not, I'm here - Kain - February 28, 2015

Winter has been difficult, he knows that many of his friends suffer during these times. Kain manage to survive one winter which gave him enough experience to deal with the next. The season was almost over but Kain prefered starting the job he prepared for early. He traveled to a distant land where he heard tales of beast roaming the area. Critters there live in fear but that was about every where. Kain believed that there was a way to but a stop to this but first he would need to find companions. Nala, this trusty plastic sword (toothpick) has never failed him yet. While he travels he holds Nala in his mouth and scampers through out the forest on all fours.

Finally he climbed up onto one of the tallest branches on one of the tallest tree around. He scanned the area with his eyes. He agreed that all these forest and mountains would likely be home to many of the beast he heard about. There was one thing he hoped that wasn't around, and that was cats. Their reflexes and speed are difficult to match, he couldn't imagine trying to deal with more than one. There was one thing that needed to be done before starting the job. He needed to find a place to stay. That shouldn't be too difficult. He began to climb down, using his claws to keep him attached to the tree. Ground level was a danger zone, if he wanted to get around safely he would need to stay among the trees. It would be his only advantage here right? Kain was curious to know what would be the first creature he meets.

RE: Fear not, I'm here - Twitch - February 28, 2015

Unbeknownst to the knightly squirrel, he was being watched. Beady black eyes stared at him from a bit of distance, peering out from a shroud of snow like a peeping tom. The weasel's tongue swiped across his needlelike canines as he eyed the delicious squirrel. Twitch watched with growing hunger as the squirrel moved about the branches. Although he could climb, the trees were the domain of the squirrel; they were the king there. His agility and speed would not compare. But the unwitting squirrel was providing Twitch an opportunity, and as it began to climb down he sunk back into the snow like a gator in a swamp.

Deep beneath the snow he tunneled, straight toward the squirrel like a furry arrow. As his deft paws reached the roots of the tree, he prepared. Bunching his legs, he suddenly surged forward, shooting out of the snow and up the tree, hoping to be grabbing a squirrel's face... but to his bewilderment, he instead found nothing but bark as he clung to the trunk... of the tree one over from the squirrel's.

RE: Fear not, I'm here - Kain - March 01, 2015

Just before getting close to ground level he suddenly thought about scouting the area first. Kain was quick to change direction and headed back up the tree onto a branch. His eyes easily found a white looking squirrel. It was a very odd looking squirrel, first it was white but it also wasn't as fluffy as him. In size they would seem the same if not Kain was smaller, it was hard to tell from this distance. Maybe it was a different kind of squirrel that he didn't know about.

He took Nala in hand so he could try talking to it. "Hello fellow squirrel! Tell me, are there any predators around?" He asked, unknowingly that this white squirrel was a predator itself. Kain looked around and did ask himself why he didn't see that squirrel when he passed by. It made him cautious, it meant that there might be a predator around waiting to strike. So every creature here must be hiding somewhere. Kain was starting to feel lucky that he didn't actually go the ground level.

RE: Fear not, I'm here - Twitch - March 01, 2015

As his prey climbed higher and perched on a branch, Twitch was certain his chance at a fat meal was gone in his blunder. But to his surprise, the squirrel hailed him - in fact, it thought he was a squirrel too. For a moment his little jaw dropped and he stared, dumbfounded. How did this stupid creature make it past infancy?

The weasel's eye began to twitch, then his nose, and then his stupefied expression was replaced with a wild look. He was outraged. "WHAT!?" he shrieked. How dare this squirrel call him a squirrel! He was no piece of prey; he was a fearsome predator! "I'm not no nut-munching bushy-tailed sq-" he stopped abruptly as a spark ignited in his small skull, his mouth cracking into a full-out sharp-toothed grin, and most observers would have no doubt about what he used those little daggers of his for.

Twitch leapt down from the tree, half disappearing into the snow as he landed, before bounding over to the squirrel's tree. "I mean yes, hi! I am a squirrel. There are no predators here." The weasel nodded rigorously, then beckoned the squirrel with his paws. "Come on down and play!" he called out.

RE: Fear not, I'm here - Kain - March 01, 2015

Kain watched the white squirrel approached the tree he is at, but he found that unusual. Normally all squirrels avoid being on the ground unless they really have to. This one seemed a little too carefree. What if there were a predator hiding around the corner? Atleast his white furs allow him to be hidden within the snow. Then Kain was asked to come down. Come down? That was just taking extra risk for nothing.

He was a bit worried about the odd white squirrel and would prefer that he comes up instead. But still no predators around didn't sound right, he was told there were lots of predators here. "That's odd, I was told this area was full of predators but I have yet to see one. But that doesn't mean it's a good idea to be down there! Haven't you been thought that ground level is where the strongest predators roam?"

There wasn't really any time to play today he needed to do a few things before knowing how much free time he has. "Anyway I can't play with you today, I need to find a place to stay. But if you wish to talk for a while come join me at the highest branch, It's much safer up there." He said, thinking about the white squirrel safety. To kain his buddy down bellow must be inexperienced. Kain now held Nala in his mouth and without a moment to waste he starts climbing up quickly and easily, heading to the top of the tree.

RE: Fear not, I'm here - Twitch - March 01, 2015

The squirrel claimed to have been told there were many predators afoot, but that he had not seen one. To this, the weasel snorted. Yeah, he hasn't seen one because he thinks they're all funny lookin' squirrels, thought Twitch, who was beginning to think this meal might be too much work to be worth it as he watched the squirrel retreat higher into the tree. If he could have gotten the fool on the ground it would stand no chance to outmanoeuvre him and he would be feasting before he knew. But now he was having to work for it.

With a grumble, he jumped onto the tree trunk and started making his way up, his long sharp claws making audible scratching noises as they gripped into the bark. When he reached the branch the squirrel was sitting on he remained clinging to the trunk. Hatching a new plan, he shrieked and started pointing wildly. "Look! LOOK!" He was hoping the squirrel would turn his back to see what all the fuss was about, and then he would pounce.

RE: Fear not, I'm here - Kain - March 01, 2015

The white squirrel decided to join him, that was good. Now they were both safe from most predators, mainly the dangerous ones. Kain watched the odd squirrel until he pointed him to look in the other direction! Kain instantly turned and instantly saw something of interest and then jumped down to a branch to get a better look. There was a hole in a tree that had something in it. He wanted to know if there was any other critter or squirrel living there. "You have a good eye, pal. Maybe, something like us lives there." He said while having his weapon in his mouth.

He quickly ran to the end of the branch and leapt across to the next tree. It would be nice to find more companions that know the area. If there was ever a chance to meet a fellow critter Kain would take it. In this case he really wanted to see who lived in that tree. Whoever it could be should know alot about these lands. But as Kain got closer the more it would appear to be abandoned. He shouldn't have gotten his hopes up. Things weren't going to be that easy, but atleast he has the white squirrel with him.

RE: Fear not, I'm here - Twitch - March 01, 2015

Twitch's plan worked, the squirrel fell for his charade and turned his back. Seizing the moment, he sprung forth and pounced... landing on the bare spot on the branch where the squirrel was. No sooner had the squirrel gave him the chance did it take it away again as it repositioned on the branch below him. And to Twitch's dismay, his pointing-at-nothing ended up being a pointing-at-something and the squirrel took off to investigate. Twitch stamped his feet and sighed loudly. His easy meal was turning into a pain in the ass. But he was determined and did not give up easily.

A few jumps and branch hopping later, Twitch caught up to the squirrel, and for the first time took real notice of the thing in its mouth. "What the duck is that!?" he squeaked, beady black eyes focused on the pink twig.

The young mother was simply overjoyed. Her egg had hatched...into what, she did not know. She had found it on the ground, after all. It had grown quickly, and was now to big for her little nest. So with the chick clutched in her talons, squeaking, she had explored and found this tree hollow. After a few trips, moving all the nest materials here, she had finally settled in.

She lay on the chick for a quick nap after her labor, and it to had been quick to grow silent and doze off.

Fallko awoke at the sound of voices, and was instantly on guard. Pushing the chick behind her, she peered over the rim of the hollow, to see a squirrel bounding toward her, clutching something. That did not bother her. Squirrels were annoying, but no threat. However, the thing that followed it. "Ei esser! Nicht mein baby essen, du arschloch!*" She screamed at him, swooping out of her nest, eyes angry, talons reaching for the deceiver. "Leave, weasel!" She screeched at him, eyes murderous.
*Egg eater! Not my chick, as*hole!

RE: Fear not, I'm here - Kain - March 02, 2015

Kain was far wrong for thinking it was abandoned. If the bird there had never moved he would have jumped into the hollow hole just to explore and would have likely ended badly. What was more surprising is that it flew towards him and had no time to answer the white squirrel's question. By reflex he swung himself under the branch using his claws to hold on to it.

Even if Kain was quick to react, here he was a bit too confused to actually try anything. The bird didn't seem like the predator type but it came towards him. He realise that the bird wasn't going after him but for the white squirrel instead. He didn't know how to really react to this attack. And what did it call his friend? A weasel? If that was true then wasn't the weasel a predator too?

Once the bird passed, Kain jumped back on top of the branch and took his plastic sword in hand then pointed it at the bird since it was the first to attack. This time he will be ready to strike back if it returns, he didn't count on hurting it but maybe to just calm it down.

RE: Fear not, I'm here - Twitch - March 02, 2015

last post for me, you two can can continue

Twitch ducked as the small falcon swooped toward him, swiping his paw at her in utter annoyance. She was to him little more than an overgrown fly, and if she strayed too close again he would show her the agility and fierceness of the weasel. But before he could prepare to retaliate, the squirrel returned to the top of its branched and brandished his pink stick at the bird. Now the squirrel was distracted, not paying as much attention to the 'false squirrel'. Twitch leaned back on his haunches, preparing to pounce... and then slumped with an exasperated sigh.

So what if he could get the squirrel, he'd then have to contend with this winged pestilence of a bird. Feeling that this prey was no longer worth the effort, he turned and made a quick retreat back down the tree, slipping into the snow like a furred snake and burrowing out of sight. Somewhere out there was a quicker, easier meal.

RE: Fear not, I'm here - Fallko - March 07, 2015

Seeing red, Fallko attempted to strike at the weasel with her talons, but quick as a snake, it disappeared. Frantically, she twisted mid air to find where the squirrel had gone...even though he was not harming her chick, he was entirely to close. She swooped at him, but stopped a short distance away, glancing with trepidation at the outlandish thing he held.

"You not harm chick, correct?" she asked him suspiciously, alighting on a branch a few inches away.

RE: Fear not, I'm here - Kain - March 10, 2015

"No, if your chicks were endangered I would try to save them instead." He said as he stood tall while lowering his weapon. His buddy the white squirrel seems to have left him behind. Maybe he was afraid of birds but Kain wasn't, he was just a bit confused as of why the bird attacked at first. Kain saw this as a misunderstanding but it was too late to the call the white squirrel back to get this all settled.

"Tell me, what kind of creatures live around here?" he suddenly asked. he wanted to know what he would be up against. He wouldn't mind having more allies to help him but he couldn't ask that from a mother. Atleast he could try to get some information.
