the crescent city sleeps - Echelon - March 18, 2015 For @Rhythm! <3
Nightfall descended rapidly that day to her, though the events of her day had allowed time to escape what seemed like earthly bounds. The waning light of sunset was masked by the mountains at her back as she had cast her gaze curiously towards the claimed valley she had been toying with. Echelon was pleased with her efforts at disrupting one of their nearby herds, having exhausted the better half of her energetic supply. It had been a while since she had felt that sort of good energy, and it was no doubt a response to having been firmly reunited with Tonravik in the weeks past. Resting back on her haunches as she composed herself, the lithe ink blot of Tartok remained on alert. Her figure in that waning light was no doubt a mock silhouette, for once capturing the pointed narrowness of her snout; the scant throwback to a muddied heritage that she did not endorse or embrace. For now she felt she would wait until she felt moderately rested and then she would return to Tonravik — her attention slipped away momentarily to the mountains that were etched in an outline of dying light. She wondered what her aokkatti was preparing on the higher elevations, and what it would bring them in the days to come. rise against — help is on the way
RE: the crescent city sleeps - Rhythm - March 18, 2015 Rhythm had heard commotion earlier but had decided not to investigate. She figured she would just be late to the party. Too far from where it was. She felt lazy today too so she really couldn't be bothered. She didn't know what had her so drained. As it was she decided she would go for a walk. She got to the main entrance of the valley and caught the silhouette of another wolf. Her head tilted slightly. She approached slowly. This wolf was unfamiliar to her. Perhaps not from around here. This wolf wasn't invading however so she didn't see it as a threat. She let out a low chuff as the wolf appeared to be daydreaming. She wouldn't want to startle the stranger. "Hello," she muttered. "Can I help you?" she sat down still within the boundaries but close enough to hold a conversation. OOC: This should be fun. Spree time xD RE: the crescent city sleeps - Echelon - March 18, 2015 The approach of another triggered her attentions to roll back to the present. Echelon's gaze caught sight of the other as they approached. It was not a hard task to spot them; the silvery coat of the female stood out in comparison to the darkness that cloaked her. It didn't take a rocket scientist to figure out where the wolf had come from, though she was inclined to make those assumptions either way. There was something about her, some business-like authority that suggested the fruits of her earlier labor had stirred their watchful eyes. It was hard for her to hide a smirk, but she did it. "No, just resting," she explained politely enough. Whether or not the charade would carry any weight as the duration of their company continued was another story altogether. "Can I help you?" RE: the crescent city sleeps - Rhythm - March 18, 2015 Rhythm gave an unimpressed glance at the wolf. She was not one for sass but she let it slide. Her ears twitched. "Nope, just on a walk." Rhythm muttered. "You weren't causing chaos in the valley earlier by any chance were you?" she tilted her head. She was trying to figure out what else had the wolf so close to the borders. that was the only conclusion she could draw. Other than the dark wolf was just on a stroll like herself. Rhythm looked at the black wolf her fur almost blending in with the darkness. She would be good at stalking at night. Unlike herself who stuck out in the darkness. Even in sunlight people could notice her. Her blue eyes and almost silver pelt. It was something Rhythm sometimes despised if she was trying to snoop. In this case she was not out to snoop however. She was quite frankly just out for a walk. To clear her head. OOC: My posting sucks ass right now x.x Ima try harder i swear RE: the crescent city sleeps - Echelon - March 18, 2015 How forward of this female, Echelon thought. Already jumping to conclusions in the way of asking questions. She turned a single ear back as she let her face contort, the expression settling into a look of concern mixed with a bit of hurt. As though it were to suggest that why she would do such a thing, she was just being a paragon of goodness here! "Why would someone do that?" she queried, as though she were ignorant to the benefits such behavior reaped. "I mean, it wasn't me... but seriously? I thought this place was just full of nice wolves." And truthfully, it probably was. But she hadn't seen that side of it. If anything, Echelon felt that she had encountered more morons there than anything, top of that list being the fiery matron of the Glacier. RE: the crescent city sleeps - Rhythm - March 18, 2015 "Forgive me, just someone trying to scare off a good meal I hear, sorry for jumping to conclusions." rhythm muttered staring at her paws. "For enjoyment i guess," she was in no way looking for a fight right now. Even if she knew this wolf was lying acting like she new nothing. Something Rhythm was good at seeing. Lies. Right now though. This wasn't worth it. Not like they would never eat again. She did not appreciate a meal being chased off however. "I'm sorry we got off on the wrong foot just everyone is kind of edgy as the pack tries to settle in,"she paused "Rhythm.." RE: the crescent city sleeps - Echelon - March 18, 2015 It hadn't taken long for word of her deeds to spread. Fair enough, she supposed, though that didn't tell her a whole lot about the pack. In a way, for what minute curiosity she had, Echelon also found out that she didn't care too much. The fact that they were a newly founded pack didn't surprise her; their calls in the night, even the announcement of that claim hadn't fallen on deaf ears. Even from the reaches of the mountain, she had heard their faintest songs. "It's fine, really," she stated, beginning to find the edge of how she wanted to be. "Whoever did that though sounds like a real jerk though." On the inside, she was laughing at her own attempts. Being social wasn't her strong suit at all, and she completely overlooked the introduction that she was supposed to be making. "So how long has your pack been here? It's yours, right? You seem like a leader." But she doubted that entirely, this wolf was far too feeble-seeming and kind. Leaders were made from stone and dominant, not just territorial. RE: the crescent city sleeps - Rhythm - March 19, 2015 Rhythm shook her head. "This is not my pack, I am just a founder. We have been here about a week or so now. " She wasn't sure how much she was supposed to say. but this wolf didn't seem to have a pack so she didn't see any threat. "Yes, that wolf was a jerk," Rhythm muttered. "We don't appreciate a decent meal being chased off." As if on cue her stomach growled. It appears she may be getting just a little bit hungry. She prayed the stranger hadn't heard that. "What brings you around here anyways? Your lone right." Rhythm questioned. Even though this wolf wasn't invading she was curious to find out why she was so close. RE: the crescent city sleeps - Echelon - March 19, 2015 Echelon's face contorted into an oh! moment, as though that little action could convey the embarrassment she was supposed to churn up and didn't. A little hard to do when she felt like she had known the truth and well, had been right about it. This wolf did not strike her as a leading type. Perhaps the potential was there, but potential-seeking had never been one of her strong suits. Still, the pack hadn't been there long at all and this became intriguing to her. But not as intriguing as the half-lie was about to spin up. "Oh, no, I've got a pack. We live on the mountains," she said, gesturing behind herself. That much was true, because she was living on the mountains for the time being. "I've been out exploring the nearby areas, hence the rest." A curt smile spread across her face, this time surprisingly genuine. "But don't worry, I promise I won't chase the game around here." RE: the crescent city sleeps - Rhythm - March 19, 2015 Rhythm listened patiently as the wolf explained. She wasn't sure whether she believed the black fae. She was in no mood however to challenge anything the wolf said. "Oh cool. You guys hoping to like expand. Or are you going out on your own to start something new?" She wasn't sure if she would like the idea of a new rival pack so near to the valley. It would make for competition. She was happy to hear that this wolf didn't plan on chasing off our food. Or anymore of it at least. If she had been involved in the fray earlier. She would keep an eye out. Just in case. OOC: Sorry its short. RE: the crescent city sleeps - Echelon - March 20, 2015 Short posts are fine with me! I'm not picky. :)
It seemed that she was beginning to displace some of the interest that had been focused on her earlier. Not the whole spotlight, but at least that one beam that suggested she had anything to do with her earlier dispatching of a herd nearby. This pleased Echelon, who usually didn't do so well with keeping up a charade. "Nah, nothing like that. At least I don't think so. I'm just trying to get a feel for the area, you know? See if there's anything we should worry about. It's a lot of work coming down from those mountains though." She betrayed that she was used to it, that travel wasn't something she had done extensively, or even had the stamina for. Amused with herself, Echelon found a smile had come to her face in light of her commentary. RE: the crescent city sleeps - Rhythm - March 21, 2015 Rhythm thought about what the black wolf had just said. Surely if it was alot of work to come down the mountain. It would be a lot of work to go up the mountain as well. No chance of any danger having the stamina to climb up there. She tilted her head slightly "If its a lot of work coming down. Don't you think the danger would have trouble getting up too," she questioned. "I mean, I don't think you have much danger from other pack wolves unless you give them reason to dislike you." she muttered. She eyed the wolf carefully. She still didn't trust the wolf. Probably wouldn't. Perhaps later on she would find the wolves that were there when the herd bolted. If any of them saw what the wolf looked like. Then if it was this wolf she would know not to let her near the territory so as to avoid further conflicts. RE: the crescent city sleeps - Echelon - March 21, 2015 Sure, coming and going from the mountain was work, but Echelon supposed it wasn't any different than crawling out of the valley either. And mountainous terrain was truly nothing new to her, she had scaled them before and would do again with some ease. Especially now, with Tonravik about, it made hunting easier to do. For a change, she was nearly not as poor with herself as she had been weeks ago. "You like to mutter a lot," she commented then, once more catching the mumbled words. It was almost like the conversation was boring, or her conversational companion was just being an eeyore in disguise. Or maybe she just wasn't sure in what she was saying, though it was somewhat evident that Echelon was still beneath her scrutinize, as she should have been. RE: the crescent city sleeps - Rhythm - March 24, 2015 "Uh, Oops sorry." she said cringing. She realized she does that a lot and sometimes it made it really hard for others to here her. "I'm just quiet. I like conversation but i'm not good at keeping one up," she stated. She really didnt have much else to say to this wolf. As long as she didnt trespass Rhythm didn't have a reason to have a long conversation about it. This wolf seemed smart enough to know the rules. "I have some things i need to do," she stated. that was't a complete lie. There were things that she should do. Just maybe not right at that moment. She however was beginning to tire and would like to get back to the pack. Perhaps talk to Scarlett or Adlartok. See if they knew anything about the events that occurred earlier in the day. She began to turn tail when she said "Just make sure, that if it was any of your pack, they dont come back." That was final. She believed she had made her point. She began to walk back into the valley to return to her pack mates. OOC: My last one i think here. This was fun. Hope to thread some other time :) RE: the crescent city sleeps - Echelon - March 27, 2015 She was fine with the dissolution of their conversation up until the parting remark. It burned hot beneath her skin for a moment. If not for the close proximity to the Valley, Echelon would have considering making good on the thought of setting off after her all fangs out for a fight. Instead the dark-haired wolf of Tartok allowed her eyes to rest on the fading sliver of silver-white through the underbrush. If her ruse had been blown from the get go, why hadn't she simply said so? But she considered the other possibility, that she was merely thrown beneath a blanket. Huffing to herself once the other had disappeared, Echelon moved on from the meadow altogether silently. |
