A hidden smile, a nervous look - Novia - June 15, 2015

Novia lightly padded into the territory taking a small look around before, walking in. She wanted to meet some of the members Pegerine mentioned before she joined. She looked down at her paws then sat down, she was tired from the day. She just wanted to watch what went on before anything else, panting a little.

RE: A hidden smile, a nervous look - Nightjar - June 16, 2015

Nightjar had escaped the rendezvous site yet again, and yet again he was unseen. He was becoming good at it! Truthfully, he was only good at it because his instincts were so much stronger than his mind. He was only almost four months old, but he could move as silently as a stalking cat if he was trying to. His control over his body was phenomenal for his age, though he was still characteristically not the most graceful of young wolves, given his enormous paws. He rarely ever employed stealth, but when he did manage to slip away without a trace (except, of course, his scent trail), it was his instinct he had to thank, not his cunning or ability to plan an escape. Usually there was no planning involved at all.

Presently he was trotting toward the southern borders, but was stopped abruptly by the sight of an unfamiliar wolf. Nightjar always had exactly one option when encountering someone new—beat them up or at least pretend to— and so he slunk forward with his ears lifted high and his tail even higher, something he had often witnessed Peregrine doing. He made his meanest fighting face, and though he had no plans to actually hurt Novia given that his father's scent clung to her, he certainly looked fearsome.

(Let's be clear and point out that Nightjar had no interest whatsoever in being a dominant wolf, and that his raised tail was more an indication of impending aggression than anything else, and that if one treated him as a superior it would be a lucky coincidence and not because he cares one way or another).

Nightjar chose the more defensive route today. When he stood scarcely three feet from Novia, he rippled his still downy hackles and growled his deepest growl and said, "trespasser!" Of course, Novia knew that she was not a trespasser, and Nightjar thought he knew it as well, but if he was going to be as good a Warden and Warrior (and better!) than Njal and Peregrine, then he would need real practice against real wolves. Novia was as good as anyone to practice against, even if she definitely was not a real trespasser.

RE: A hidden smile, a nervous look - Novia - June 18, 2015

Novia looked to the young wolf pup saying trying her hardest not to laugh, "I'm not a stranger not trespasser, I'm new." She began to make her way to the pup hoping to get to know him. She soon said kindly, "I'm Novia, what's your name?"

RE: A hidden smile, a nervous look - Nightjar - June 23, 2015

Novia didn't have to tell Nightjar she wasn't a trespasser for him to know it—if she was, there would be at least three wolves at her throat by now, and she certainly wouldn't smell like Peregrine—but he was intent on practicing and she was the only one around to serve as his target.

"No you're not! You're a trespasser!" Nightjar hollered again, readying himself to charge and put down the threat. Of course, he was nowhere near ready to actually dispatch anyone and he wouldn't really hurt a pack mate, but he would go through the motions.

Still, right before he ran at her, he whispered conspiratorially, "I know you're not a trespasser but you gotta pretend, okay?" He didn't give her his name, though, either because he had the good sense to withhold his information from strangers or because he hadn't really heard the question (probably the latter). With that said, Nightjar charged with his jaws wide open, planning to hit somewhere on her chest with a bite that was rough, but not intentionally harmful.
