Absolutely love this
His success in reversing their roles left a proud smile on Lennon’s face, and Alarian’s comment only enhanced it - he’d won! Yet before his jubilation, a peculiar tingling shot down his spine when the whisper first hit his ear. The odd sensation left him the wolf feeling on edge. Despite this when their play ceased he found himself disappointed.
Being so frazzled, Lennon didn’t notice the embarrassment and fluster his counterpart felt, no matter how obvious. At first, he was going to argue they continue their amusement until Korei reentered his mind, causing a complete shift in priority. He took Ali’s diversion of play as having a letdown from losing (when really they were tied), so he gave the other a quick nudge on their cheek. ”You’ll get your chance to win,” He encouraged lightheartedly, before agreeing - Korei was back on his mind and he no longer intended to mess around, ”you’re right though, let’s get going.”

The boy only wagged in response, quickly forgetting the confusing feelings and setting his mind to the hunt. Once he caught a scent, Alarian proved himself a proficient hunter; for what seemed like too brief a time, the goofiness was gone, and he was a predator. Fast, wild, and deadly. He was quiet when needed, stalking through what was left of the foliage and creeping in the shadows of the trees to pinpoint his prey-- but when it was time for the chase, that changed.
The actual hunt didn't seem to take long (though it was certainly longer than it felt like). By the time it was over, two foxes and a hare had fallen limp between Alarian's jaws. When he had caught the hare and the first fox he had simply dropped them once he was sure they were dead, figuring he would come back for them later. There were other chases, too, though Alarian only had three personal successes; he didn't pay enough attention to see if his companion caught any of the ones he did not.
When the boy killed the second fox, he carried it back to the first and retrieved his hare, adding them to the pile. He sat next to it and looked up, eyes searching for Lennon now.

In his time traveling on his lonesome Lennon learned he hunted best when he wasn't thinking at all, to lower down to his primitive state and allow his body to do the work while he simply lived within his head. When actually focusing on the hunt, he often overcalculates his moves, and overthink every outcome. His mind was no longer lingering on their play, but instead Korei. The two hadn't even gotten very close but he already cared deeply for her safety and happiness, he felt protective of the girl as though they were family.
Lennon stretched out his shoulders for a brief moment, before dashing off into the snow-ridden woods on his own path. Soon after his nose caught a lingering scent of a weasel, and once in sight it scurried into its burrow. The boys reflex proved faster, as he leaped forward, his nose jamming into the hole and snatching the black-tipped tail of the rodent. It squealed in response, shortly after it was dead in the wolf's jaws.
In the time it took Alarian to capture his three, Lennon had caught a plump fox along with the weasel. The greater meal he planned to give to Korei. The darker male approached Ali with his winnings laid in his maw, shooting his companion an impressed glance.

Korei sighed as she waited, and she was beginning to grow impatiently hungry. She thought about what could be taking so long. And then she was pain stricken when the worst thoughts came as she began to think that maybe there was an accident. Maybe they fell, or ran into a bear. She started to get upset, and got up to start following the direction they went, or at least where she saw them go.
