The Blackthorn's sights were set Northward since departing Cedar Sweep. There was every chance that Lucy's captor was not the same as the one Saena sought, and there was also the chance that he had decided to take the girls somewhere other than where their mother believed them to be. She had to trust Saena to do the right thing if she found her Lucy, as Finley would do if she found Saena's two little ones.
It had taken a few days, but eventually Fin had found herself standing with sea salt in her lungs and splashing upon her paws. She'd never cared much for the ocean. It was cool and all, but she couldn't exactly explore it as she enjoyed doing with other land forms. Not that this was a journey of pleasure, but large bodies of water proved to be just as useless on that front as well.
She had turned East then, following the faint scents of prey towards the plains. Following the routes of herd animals seemed to be the best idea she had at that point for even kidnapping sons of bitches needed to eat. And gods above help that piece of shit if he wasn't keeping her Spot well fed. She managed to find a cache near the edge of the plains that smelled of coyote. Fin fed from it without guilt before moving on towards the trees that lined the horizon in hopes that perhaps this would be where she finally managed to find her next clue.
