All Welcome
AW for anyone that would be allowed in the den
forward dated a few days to 6/5, early morning

Eyes and ears being opened meant the little bear was growing curious about the world around him. Eating was still his number one interest, but he decided this morning, after filling his belly to bursting point and then napping for a bit, he could fit in an exploring session. Mostly because he wanted to investigate the source of light that shined into the den at certain times of the day. Keeping track of time was not something Kallik was capable of yet, but he could recognize differences in the way his surroundings looked and vaguely make note of patterns.

So when he woke from his early nap, he first turned his chubby head to look at the place where the light was coming from. Then he scooted his equally chubby body around, pulling himself up on wobbly legs with quite some difficulty. He fell over twice but eventually was able to hold himself up. Then he took a few unsteady steps forward, plopping down on his fat butt when he got too excited. brob loo, he babbled, the words unintelligible. Slowly, he got back up and made it a few more steps, this time falling back on his plump hind end but directly in the light. It shined brightly on his face, making him squint his sensitive baby eyes. Loo loo loo, he babbled more. The light was warm, and he decided he might stay there for a while before venturing farther.

The Patriarch had been aware of the recent birth within the hollow; Nanook being kept away in the den and out of sight. It didn't take much to combine the sudden woman's disappearance, coupled with the scent of milk and cries for Greyback to realize what had happened.

Nanook and him had never been the best of friends—acquaintances if anything was the sole reason that kept him away. But something about the warm summer breeze, the small cries, and the fact that he and Valette were unable to conceive had finally driven the man to investigate.

So there the large man stood—infront of the mouth of the cave and peering in while his features were obscured from the blinding light against his back. He cast a shadow across the cave with his presence, but ever so slowly and lightly bent down to peer in. And there he saw it. The little dark boy with eyes green like emeralds.

"Hello, little one," He cooed gently as possible with eyes half lidded and a warm smile across his face.

For a few moments, he could only tell that something was blocking the warm light from where he sat near the entrance. He had watched the dark shadow move forward from outside where the light shined in. It moved slowly and eventually covered him in darkness like it had done to the ground in front of him. But what had caused the shadow, he wondered?

The little bear stared up with cloudy blue eyes, blinking as the large, unknown form pushed his head inside the opening. This was a new blob, not any of his usual caretakers, but Kallik wasn't startled by his presence. Instead he slowly lifted himself up and waddled forward as the form spoke, his gentle tone settling over him and pulling him forward to investigate.

When he reached one of the man's large front paws, he tripped over his own wobbly legs and fell forward against the giant's foot. It was a common occurrence for the little bear, though, and so he didn't seem put out by the little spill. Instead, he examined one of the large toes with his mouth, chewing it slowly with his tiny milk teeth. He knew from doing this to the other blobs that no food would come from one of these things, but he found it to be comforting anyway.

The little bear had crawled forward, and Greyback, knowing how much power and strength he posses, stayed perfectly still. He watched as the boy's legs wobbled as he neared, his coordination sloppy and unkempt. A wiggle, a bob, a waddle. It warmed the man's heart to see a newborn once again. He almost forgot the way his own children had looked.

"A brave one," he chuckled, seeing as how Kallik fell over and was quick to regain himself on The Patriarch's paw. It was bewildering to see such a small lad, a creature so small that it would fit within his paw, one day out growing to be a strapping young man. "I'm afraid i'm not food, little one," he chastised as small lips sealed around his toe, tiny teeth that did not hurt gumming at his fur.

Retracting his paw slowly, the large man rolled down to the earth, stretching his legs out around the youngster and slowly, tentatively, poking at it with his nose.

The large man rumbled some things he didn't understand, but the sound of his voice was comforting anyway. The little bear would have taken advantage of the situation if possible, gumming the toe for as long as the large blob would allow. But there was shifting of the large body, and his toy was gently plucked from his mouth and moved away from him. He would have followed it too, but then there was a large nose poking him, and that was far more interesting now.

He toddled forward and stopped when he was as close to the adult's face as he could be. Then he placed both tiny front paws on the man's nose and stood up on his hind legs. A small, playful yip escaped him as he patted his paws against the giant muzzle. In his excitement, he tripped over his own back foot and fell to the ground, but he rolled over to right himself, his tail wagging behind him as he yipped again at the man.

Sorry for the late reply! Ive been busy with surgery

The boy followed his movements with an unwavering gaze, something that made the Patriarch feel slightly uneasy about. Those eyes, though small and young, reminded him of Nanook in a way he couldn't quite word, and with it came the numbness that still set nestled within his heart.

Nanook was gone—leaving her legacy behind for him and Easthollow to continue. For Kallik.

He smiled as the boy hobbled over to him, placing his paws upon his face with an innocence that made the elder smile and melt some of the sadness away. He almost went cross-eyed whilst staring at the boy in front of him who was happily unaware of the situation that shrouded him.

He almost hoped that the boy would never become aware.

"Boof," the man echoed back in reply to the small yip, half surprised that the cub managed to trip over himself. However, he seemed fine, and with this realization, he sounded another playful woof at the boy before nosing him.

thought you might need a little help to keep this interesting :)

Siarut was surprised to find the large form of Greyback looming in the entrance of his den. He hadn't been gone long, he knew that Nanook was off stretching her legs with Valette and so he had hurried back after passing them. Tilting his head slightly, and raising a brow comically at his son and Patriarch. He cleared his throat softly, he tried to keep the small smile from his lips, but he was proud and happy.

"Greyback." Siarut called softly, greeting the man easily. They didn't know each other well, and he knew Nanook didn't either but Sia was curious about the man that stood beside Valette. A leader he had grown to deeply respect. Looking down at Kallik, the father smiled softly, before refocusing on Grey.

The large man made a playful sound in return, and Kallik bopped his much larger paw with his two tiny front paws. He stared up at him with puppy eyes that were suddenly cast behind him at the sound of dad clearing his throat.

The little bear toddled over towards Siarut then, his attention easily stolen by one if his most favorite blobs. Anak tuk gek, he babbled; they were not any real words, just sounds of the northern language he often heard spoken around him. He stopped at his father's paw and immediately placed his mouth on it, gumming it as he had done to the giant stranger. He continued to babble in the the harsh sounds of his parents' language, completely content in the presence of his father and the nice man he had just met.

Busy playing with the cub, the patriarch was unaware of Siarut's presence till the clearing of a throat. Jolting, the giant whipped around to face the newly-made father, his brows held high and tail stiff. Greyback felt a tad embarrassed at the possibility of the man seeing him playing around and indulging his son in such an undignified manned.

Quick to get up, the man shook out his long coat before dipping his head, all the while seeing Kallik scurry on over to his father, babbling in a language Greyback was too old to understand, yet aware as it was the language Nanook often spoke.

"He's picking up words fast," The elder replied, dodging any questions or concerns about what had just happened.
