A soft call to @Zoug marked Candle's departure from the ravine — and her invitation. The priestess had scarcely left The Tribe's land since the birth of their children. But now it was time to see if the place of pale fog and dark water, which often visited her in dreams, remained uninhabited.

It seemed the wolves had not yet touched this place. Candle disappeared into the fog with her nose low to the ground, taking in each scent carefully.

where she dipped her muzzle, zoug lifted his own. he explored only when her eyes were raised, and in this way the coyotes covered one another from the prying eyes of their killers.

now he looked up, glancing her way with a grunt and a swift gesture: they are not here.

I'm the worst I'm so sorry, I'll prioritize this one so we can get them moved <3
Long minutes passed in searching silence before Candle's eyes found her mate. Zoug confirmed what the priestess had hoped to find: there were no wolves here. This was a hidden place, a place of shadows brimming with life.

A good place for a coyote, Candle thought. Or many coyotes. Her ears twitched as she moved, always searching for the sound of snakes, but now her posture had shifted from wariness to eager energy. She led her mate toward the falls — but it wasn't the water that held her interest.

The stone held its own secrets. Darkness yawned from gaps in the cliffside around the waterfall, perhaps the entrances to many caves. Candle halted, eyes finding Zoug to see what he thought of this.

no worries at all! <3

caves; he saw their eyes, sightless as empty sockets for no life yet lived in them.

it would be a place for their family to inhabit, to liven. the absence of their killers was most appealing to zoug. he did not enjoy the idea of leaving the ravine, but if their life was easier here, he would accept that as best.

what spirits moved here, wondered the mog-ur.

The priestess, occupied with thoughts now of the future and the litter they would soon bring into the world, moved at once to choose a cave for herself and her mate. One of the larger caves nearest to the waterfall, a place where the steady rush of water softened all other sound. Candle glanced once to her mate and slipped inside.

Bold as she was in her explorations, it was Zoug's approval she searched for when she'd finished surveying the space. He was, after all, their resident cave expert.
