When Rannoch and Liffey had confirmed they were rested and ready, Raven sent up the call for the rest of her pack and gave everyone time to assemble. Though word of their intention to move had spread quickly after the decision had been made, for those who were still a little unsure of what was going on, she and Quixote filled them in and made sure everyone was on board with it. Many were glad for the change of scenery -- the plateau had never been a big hit with some, particularly those who had moved here from the grandeur and beauty of Redhawk Caldera. Raven herself was filled with excitement and relief, having never liked this exposed, waterlogged, nearly-naked expanse of land. She looked forward to enjoying the shelter and privacy of a forest again, as well as having new places to explore and put down roots. A place of her own, chosen by her. Moving away from here felt, in a way, like closing the book on an old chapter of her life, one fraught with abandonment, pain, and bad memories. Though the move to Golden Glade was so short it barely deserved to be considered a big deal, to the alpha female it felt like a brand new chapter, an opportunity to start fresh and rewrite what had, up to this point, been an exhaustingly endless parade of bad news.
The trip took no time at all, requiring only that they descend the plateau on its gently-sloping northeastern side and then follow its flank south to the forest that waited at its foot. A beautiful and serene wood nestled comfortably between the plateau and its neighboring peak, whose canopy was cheerfully green and whose floor was carpeted with moss and spangled everywhere with bright shards of golden sunlight, it welcomed them with birdsong and the sweet scent of maplewood. A stream babbled somewhere nearby, and the scent of game ws strong in the air. She liked the Glade's close proximity to the plateau, so that those who were attached to their old territory could still visit anytime they wanted without having to journey far. She also liked that it was still close enough to the Firebirds and to Towhee and Phox's new pack to maintain close ties. Once they were comfortably within the embrace of the woods, she turned to her packmates and announced, "All right guys, I hope you all drank lots of water before we left because your pee on the borders would be greatly appreciated." She grinned. "We'll need some caches dug and filled, and I'll be needing a messenger or two to carry word of our move to the Firebirds and to Towhee. Some of you might have already heard, but we're going to be changing the name of our pack. Since the Frostfurs and the Redhawks came together to make this happen, and Rannoch and Liffey will be leading with us now -- they'll have the same authority that Qui and I have -- our pack will be called the Frosthawks. This is sort of like turning over a new leaf in a lot of different ways, and while it means a lot to me personally, I hope it can be a good thing for each of you too."
