Her eyes widened as the paw swept for her. There was no escape this time.
The long claws raked from the top of her shoulder, nearly down to her chest.
The force sent her reeling, struggling to stay upright as her flesh burned.

In all her time, she'd never been this reckless and now suffered from it.
She fell backwards quickly, tail tucked and ears slicked. Yeah, she'd fucked up.
Vanity knew she had to go. And go now.
So without another snarky remark, she turned and ran fast. Cats would rather lounge than chase, otherwise, they'd not be ambush hunters.

Vanity didn't look back.
