Alpine Lake solace

the carpet of pine needles bent beneath her step. out the evergreens she emerged, panting lightly.

a lake.

carefully, she came to it. the water chilled her paws, even before dipping in her chiseled muzzle. she drank slow, deep. each swallow banishing the heat from her body.
