I'm not sure why I feel so partial to this line, but I do. I think I just wanted to applaud you for playing such a sweet, sensitive character with such earnestness and dedication even after all this time. I just want Eljay to have all the world peace he wants! *sobs*

I do not understand, why Eljay has not had more appreciation as a long-standing character! I want to remedy this by saying that I am very happy that you and Kat gave me an opportunity to adopt and raise Elfie. And to you specifically for helping me create a coming-of-age arc for Eljay's boy that would not have been possible otherwise. It has been truly an honor to collaborate with you in guiding Elfie through his path of self-discovery and growing up. Thank you! :)

I love all of your characters because you're absolutely legendary at richly developing them as unique individuals. Eljay is a great example. There is no other character quite like him. It's hard to read him sometimes because he's always struggling and you as the reader suffer along with him due to your exemplary writing. I am granting kudos to this post in particular because I feel like it's such an organic and emotive response to a really horrible situation. (Plus, I selfishly loved using this little "curve ball" to write Towhee's reaction.) He cannot be easy to play, year after year, yet you do such a fantastic job and deserve ALL the kudos!

What an incredible character. There's so much depth just in these few lines: "He'd always thought that.. maybe, one of them would get tired first. And that person would decide to move. Or maybe, they'd decide together. Talk about it. Talk about where.
It might not have been an ultimatum or a demand, but Eljay felt the pressure of those words. He felt how much it meant, and how much it meant what he'd reply. And he was in no state to handle any more being relied on, having to make decisions, being needed."

Kudos to both of you for the painfully realistic depiction of how relationships can sometimes be so beautifully complicated. I'm kudosing this one in particular bc the bit about wanting to be involved in the conversation is so good and so nuanced - as is the comparison to how he's been feeling lately.
