the scent!

eagerly she began at once. nose practically pressed firmly into the ground. then she raised it, threw her head back so that her nose pointed into the winds.

what did she smell among it all?

something...fresh. like upturned earth, newly walked trails. it's...that way. she gestured loosely up ahead where the breeze had carried scent to them.
