Soon, the feeling would give way to aches and pains as her growing body healed the strain, but for now she burned with confidence and with gratitude. The beast had been felled at her teeth, but not without the bear woman's guidance.

"Eat with me, Nanuralaaq. I could not have done it without you." Her eyes never left the caribou's still flank. It was one thing to work the hide of a creature already felled; another entirely to whisper death straight to the source. She wished to give thanks for its life and for blessing her with a successful first hunt. Teeth nibbled its course fur, itching to tear into its flesh. "But first I wish to honour it's spirit," voice barely a whisper, "do you know how?"
