his haiku is charmingly disarming. kaede is not surprised to know that this man is educated. often it is the lot of a learned man to take up his blade, no matter how proverbial.
but she cannot evince her delight by simpering, by hiding her face, by allowing her mouth to curve or her eyes to glow. instead the evidence is in the tension of her shoulders, the way a laugh is holding itself silent til death.
"i am ichimonji kaede of tamayo." it is more of herself than she wishes to give. "should i call you yosa no buson, my lord?"
