When he felt that first moment of connection, where the palm of his reaching paws collided with the dark shape, he felt his claws sink through a coat that was too thin for the season and then deeper, cutting in to flesh.

As soon as he'd hooked the wolf with his powerful claws he dragged them towards him, and Zugzwang's strength was obvious; the wolf would buckle against the dirt and shadows or they would find themselves aligned beneath his falling torso. Either way, his goal was to bring his hind-limbs in to contact with the body of the wretched creature.

It would be a bloody mess, but he would make this wolf rue the day they chose to cross his path - and better yet, he'd decorate this space that was so important to his people, he would use their guts as garlands, paint the trees red — and afterwards, the wolves would know not to cross in to this place ever again.
