All Welcome
Backdated about a week

Though it had only been a few days, Coysevox had quite expected there to have been a parade in her honor by now. No, she hadn't done anything parade worthy, but it was something her high fantasies desired— something that was lost to her away from home. There was no worship here, and no special attention: desired or not. She felt utterly alone; lost between the cliques of two recently merged packs who were each trying to find a balance between themselves, let alone with a singled out yearling toting an uncommon accent. Not that she had tried very hard to integrate herself.

The usually very confident girl had fallen into uncertainty; an up and coming starlet who had gotten her first crappy role and more scathing reviews than good. She was sulking, half in, half out of her quaint little dug-out, when she suddenly decided to pick herself up and distract herself with a hunt. It was early yet, and before the sun reached its zenith, she wanted to get herself in a good, fast chase.

Finley had, of course, told him about the newcomer with the accent that had recently joined their ranks. He hadn't met her yet, and that wasn't really a surprise, since there were so many wolves calling the caldera home now. Elwood's main focus was on keeping the delicate balance between his own family and the former "outsiders," as Towhee would call them. So far, things seemed to be going well.

The Alpha strode briskly across the level terrain at the base of the caldera as the morning sun gently warmed his back. He caught a glimpse of motion in his peripheral vision and when he glanced that way he spotted an unfamiliar wolf; her description fit the one given to him by Finley. He couldn't recall her name, but she moved with purpose, and he chuffed to gain her attention as he approached.

Phox typically slept during the day and woke in the evening. He knew he was going to get sleepy soon, but when he spotted Elwood and another wolf he hadn't properly introduced himself to, he couldn't bring himself to settle in for the night day.

Phox came up behind Elwood, his shoulder roughly even with his guardian's, though he wasn't shy about his approach. Unlike his sister, Phox had welcomed the "outsiders" with open arms (paws? legs?). Heck, he'd even had a good conversation with Sebastian. That guy seemed cool as hell, and Phox didn't really understand why Towhee was all weird about them. They were just more family to add to the mix.

He didn't speak, but allowed Elwood to take the wheel and drive this encounter in whatever way he pleased.

Coysevox didn't notice at first that she was being approached. With her nose low to the ground and her ears pressed forward—all of her tuned strictly to pinpointing the freshest rabbit trail she could find—it was almost understand that she missed the signs of others in her vicinity. Right up until one had the forethought to call for her attention directly. The riverwolf perked up, startled into attention. Her fur puffed out slightly, riled at first that she had to suddenly withdraw from her hunt, but she rebounded quickly when she realized she was being approached by two of her own packmates.

The girl beamed, emitting a small and excited whine as she licked her chops and gave her hips a happy wag. This stopped immediately when she realized that both wolves approaching her were male. Remembering the words of her new peanut-butter-and-jealous alpha, her shining face grew into some wide and alarmed expression, tucking her still-wriggling tail between her legs and seizing up her limbs up as they closed the remaining distance between them.

"Morning, monsieurs," she said in tightened politeness, averting her gaze as she reminding herself not to smile. No matter how charming they might turn out to be. Or no matter how tall, dark, and handsome she imagined the younger wolf becoming. And especially not how the older one touched on her Electra complex by having that handsomely average "Dad-bod" type appeal. Instantly Coy knew that this wolf was more off-limits than the rest, and she shrunk down slightly at having failed to keep her ready grin at bay as she'd been told.

He was joined by Phox even as the girl turned to face him, and Elwood glanced briefly at his godson. It almost took him by surprise to see just how tall the boy had gotten; naturally, he knew that Phox was nearing his adult size, but to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with him gave Elwood a new perspective. When he looked back at the she-wolf, she had adjusted her posture drastically, appearing almost to cower before them with her eyes averted.

Finley hadn't mentioned that she was skittish -- but nor had she mentioned the thinly-veiled threat that she had delivered. So Elwood was in the dark, and he tilted his head quizzically. "I'm Elwood and this is Phox. Remind me of your name," he said, his tone friendly. He added a gentle wave of his tail, hoping to ease her alarm.

Phox remained silent, though his ears did perk up as each of the adults talked. The lady he didn't know had something weird with her voice that caused him to grin uncontrollably. Elwood introduced himself (and Phox), then asked for her name. Fidget thought this was a bit strange, considering Elwood was the alpha and shouldn't he know the names of his subordinates. Phox shot him a judging look, then looked back to the other wolf to see what she would say.

The young one grinned -- and oh! what a winning smile it was -- forcing Coy to eye the older male helplessly. He was breezily polite, addressing her with a soft timbre she had to recover from before speaking. If she'd known the tales of Christianity she might've been able to understand Eden's plight: for forbidden fruit seemed suddenly the most attractive. Her tail wiggled, and she looked at the ground. "Oui, of course. My name is Coysevox," she pronounced in the direction of their feet. "Coy, if you prefer that." The girl cleared her throat, feeling very much at a disadvantage. How does one go about charming their packmates without a being able to smile at them or otherwise seem enthused? ...oh right. Maybe that was the point.

"I.. I am afraid I cannot chat with you two gentleman. The madame has forbidden it," she offered honestly, not wanting there to be any confusion was to why she couldn't join them. She wanted to, after all, and lying never suited her. "But if there is something else you are needing, I am more than happy to oblige." Please send me on a hunt. Please send me on a hunt.

Elwood missed the judgmental glance Phox threw in his direction as Coysevox introduced herself. It was a foreign-sounding name that matched her accent perfectly, and now that he heard it spoken aloud, Elwood couldn't be sure that Finley had even given him the girl's name in the first place. Whatever the case, it didn't matter now; pleasantries had been exchanged and all three present were aware of the names of their companions.

But when Coysevox attempted to excuse herself a moment later, citing that she had been forbidden from talking with them, Elwood's brows raised. "The madame?" he asked, briefly confused. "You mean Finley? What did she say?" he asked curiously; he couldn't wait to hear this explanation.

@Coysevox Sorry I killt this one. For future reference, feel free to skip me if it's been a few days!

"Coy" was a lot easier to remember than "Coysevox," though Phox did his best to memorize the longer version of it anyway. The other stuff seemed relatively boring, but Elwood sure did appear to be interested, so Phox stuck around to hear what she had to say. He wasn't really sure why Finley would forbid anybody from talking to anybody else. Wasn't a pack supposed to be tight-knit?

Closing this out since Coy is inactive!

Strangely enough, rather than answer Elwood's question, the she-wolf simply shook her head, shrugged her shoulders, then slipped away. Elwood watched her go with wide eyes and a brow creased by a frown; he looked at Phox and said frankly, "That was weird." He made a mental note to talk to Finley about it, although he would ultimately forget to and Coysevox would eventually leave the caldera without a word.

"C'mon, let's go hunt," he offered, and motioned for Phox to follow him.
