Nevouku had been putting it off a bit, he had been told, or rather suggested to seek out @Eljay. For now the thing with Sebastian was behind or so he wanted to believe. He sought them out, sending out a bit of a call for them. He wondered what this Eljay was like...He'd been told he and Eljay were alike. Nev would see for himself, but he knew right away he would be a nervous wreck as always.

Eljay was never far away from the den what with the young pups around. He was actually on guard at that moment, making sure that no one was getting to the pups so when he heard a call for him Eljay lifted his nose to howl back -- he let whoever was calling know he was at the pup den. Eljay felt a little nervous, not too sure who had called for him and what they wanted, but one glance back at the little beans calmed his nerves well enough.

Nevouku heard the howl, and he hesitantly headed their way, pausing before starting to move towards them. Eventually he found them, but stopped a bit away. "I, uh...hi...I w-was told to find you for, um..." How was he meant to say 'I was suggested to meet you cause we're alike'. He laughed nervously a bit, he wasn't even sure how to go with this interaction.

Eljay stepped forward a few steps, not wanting the stranger too near the pups. They'd be alright to interact with them later, but maybe not yet right now. He canted his head when the stranger spoke to him from a small distance, falling over his words awkwardly. "Hiya," said Eljay, and then waited to hear what more was to come. Nothing to finish the sentence happened however, only a nervous laugh. "I'm Eljay." Considering the stranger seemed nervous Eljay figured it best to just introduce himself. Seemed like a better ice-breaker than trying to figure out what this guy was coming to him for. Maybe he would figure that out later down the line.

Nevouku smiled lightly towards the other, Eljay. "N-Nevouku" the nervous wolf answered back to Eljay. He swirled a paw nervously along the ground then, unsure of how to continue. What else was he supposed to say? He finally decided on some words however. "T-Towhee told me to find y-you..."

The name the other said was difficult to remember, as it was a much different name than what Eljay was used to. Eljay repeated the name a few times in his head and hoped he wouldn't somehow forget it. He was surprised to hear that Towhee had asked Nevouku to find him, of all wolves. His first thought was that maybe Towhee wanted them to spar together, but then he thought the other did not seem much like the fighting type. Then he wondered if maybe Nevouku would want to become a puppysitter too and wanted some advice; or better, if he was midwife and could give Eljay some advice.

"Oh..?" asked Eljay awkwardly, hoping that Nevouku would elaborate on why he was sent to Eljay.

Could Nevouku make this conversation anymore awkward? "I was...I was uh...Towhee said that you'd like me...I mean y-you would be l-like me, I mean are l-l-like me, so said to meet you..." Yes...yes he could. He groaned at the awkwardness that he was causing, and decided to try and start slow, taking a couple calming breaths. "I was told that....I would get along....with you" he recorrected himself, slowly.

Eljay found it hard to decipher the words that Nevouku spoke and truthfully, when he figured it out Eljay wondered if he was really like that. Not that Nevouku was unpleasant, but he didn't feel like he stumbled over his words quite that much and he didn't think he looked like, well, that much of a victim, maybe. It made him feel awful, both for labelling Nevouku all those negative things and for thinking that maybe he deserved all of the shit he'd been given, mostly by his relatives, over time.

Unsure how to deal with all of these negative feelings Eljay smiled awkwardly and said, "Oh, uh.." It was quite awkward meeting someone that others thought you would get along with. A bit much pressure for Eljay's liking. "Where do you come from?" he decided to ask, something of small talk to break the ice, hopefully.

Nevouku only smiled awkwardly back. Perhaps for a little bit too long even, as his answer to the question asked was delayed. "Ah, B-Broken Antler...not too far....I've been here b-b-before even." He remembered vaguely he had met the alphas. Someone with dark fur...Ferry? Fere-something? He remembered one was the color of a fox, maybe the same name as well.

"Oh," said Eljay. "You were with Sebastian?" He remembered Sebastian vaguely, though he didn't remember the run-in he had had with the guy when he was little; he just remembered the stories and that he had returned after being gone from Redhawk Caldera for a while. And he remembered meeting him at the lake that one day, when he'd found that wounded wolf. There'd been so much blood...

Pushing the thoughts of the wounded wolf from his mind while a shiver ran through his spine Eljay said: "I was born here." It didn't feel very natural to inject his own answer to the question in the conversation but Eljay didn't really know what else to say. "I lived in uh, Drageda, it's at the coast someplace, for a little while, but then I returned here when I got hurt in the war." He didn't really know if Nevouku had heard about the war, but if he had come with Sebastian, then maybe he had even been there.

Nevouku nodded with an almost blur of head nodding. He and Sebastian had been very close, brothers even...but now, well...now he was unsure of how they were now. "Yeah, I...I was with him..." he gave a shaky sigh.

"You w-w-were born here? H-How long ago?" he wondered if Eljay had been born back when Nev had been about. And another thing he had noticed, the two alphas he had seen last time. Where were they? The thought of them having passed did not cross his mind.

Eljay thought for a moment when asked how long ago he was born. "Oh, uh... Three.. years? I think?" He counted the litters that'd been there since, and concluded three was probably right. Eljay hadn't kept track necessarily, even though three wasn't that high a number to count up to. He wanted to say he'd lived in Drageda but realised just in time he had already just said that. "It's good to be home again."

Nevouku thought on it. He must have been here back then. "S-So you would have known the alphas back then...What...Wh-What happened to them?" he asked. Were they even still around? Or had...they passed? The one named Fox had seemed nice enough. And the other...well nev had embarassed himself in front of them so he didn't think much on it.

Eljay looked startled when he was asked about the former Alphas. He didn't like to revisit the memory of the deaths of wolves that were his family and if he hadn't been at the pup den, being unable to just leave, Eljay might've made up an excuse to quickly make himself scarce. "Oh, they, uh —" Eljay stumbled over the words as his body fought against the unpleasant memories. "They passed away..." He looked at the ground, hoping that would be that and that the subject would be dropped now. Hopefully Nevouku was as good as him at reading body language so that he would simply know.

Nevouku knew right away when Eljay looked startled that what he had said was not the right thing, and he guessed right away what that meant. "Oh I...I'm s-sorry...H-How was uh...you said you w-were from a place called D-Drageda?" he asked, tipping his head a little to the side. He still felt stupid, for having brought up such memories.

Eljay didn't necessarily need a new subject right away but he was glad that Nevouku understood to drop the subject of his dead relatives anyway. Things had been a bit tumultuous ever since they'd passed, especially with leadership being passed down to Towhee. Often Eljay wished it was still Uncle P and Aunt Fox at the helm of Redhawk Caldera.

After a brief moment of reminiscing pause Eljay said: "Oh, it was okay. The pups were nice, uhm.. And the ocean was certainly different. But I guess it wasn't really the place for me." He'd wanted it to be that so badly, but it had never really become home and Eljay, in hindsight, wondered if it ever could've been. He just wasn't tough like them.

Nev knew that feeling all too well. Being in a place where one might not feel like they belonged, the place for them. After the Fen where he had stayed...he had left that all behind then. "I kn-kn-know that feeling too well" the nervous male said back to Eljay. It had been dreaful...

"This place...maybe this place will be better, you think so?" the nervous wolf asked to Eljay.

Eljay blinked in some confusion when Nevouku asked him if this place would be better for him. This was home, so it was always better; it was the best. Eljay didn't realise that maybe Nevouku was talking about himself, consciously or no, and so it was with some confusion that he answered: "Uh... Yes? I mean, I was born here, so this is like... home." It would always be home to him, and he doubted any other place could give him the same feeling as Redhawk Caldera did.

Nevouku smiled. He had meant for himself, but he was too nervous to correct Eljay, not wanting to make any bad impressions whatsoever. That would be terrible for him, to make more bad impressions. "W-Well that's good. A good home..." Home...he had always been far from home. The only two times he had been in 'home', he had left. The first to escape the raging fires, the second to pursue his love. "This is a good place...I feel safe, you know?"

Nevouku said that he felt safe but he didn't look or sound much like he felt safe yet. Eljay felt sorry for him, because he looked so fragile and it seemed tragic that someone should not have a home like Redhawk Caldera to live in forever (yeah, right). "I'm sure it can become your home, too," he said softly as Nevouku said that he felt safe at Redhawk Caldera. This place wouldn't be like wherever Nevouku'd come from; this place, he could stay forever.

Nevouku felt a smile come by, he was quite glad to hear those words. A few had already been kind to him now, and he was feeling...somewhat safe. "Yes, I do hope so too" he answered back, his voice almost a murmur or a whisper. "You're nice, Eljay..." He was glad that Towhee had told Nev to visit him, cause he felt better.

Everyone deserved a home, so Eljay did hope that this would become Nevouku's, for his sake. He smiled sheepishly when Nevouku called him nice, not really sure how to deal with the compliment. Eljay wasn't too used to receiving them. "Oh, uhm..." he awkwardly murmured, clearly not sure how to reply. "Uh, thanks."

Eljay glanced back at Tywyll and Cinder, one of which'd started wailing out of the seemingly blue. "Oh... I should go check on that," said Eljay. "It was nice to meet you - see ya later." He offered a curt though genuine smile and then squirmed into the den to look what terrible tragedy had overcome the wailing pup, probably to find out it wasn't anything major.

Nevouku smiled, not realizing just how bad at socialising he really was. Eljay thanked him, in a murmur. His ears perked up as he heard the cries, and he nodded. "Oh, uh sure...sure" he answered back, and he started making his own way away from Eljay. He had been nice.
