All Welcome
running like an idiot down the valley had certainly made her feel good, but in the long run, she was only more hungry. thank god for rabbits and their magnificent ability to procreate, for their population had gotten steadily larger over the past few months, and while it didn't particularly make her feel good to kill baby things, this one was pretty much an adult; which meant a guilt-free meal.

paws thudded on earth and the chase began. veering steadily westward, veering steadily nearer a boundary, veering dangerously -

and she was over it, one more meter, two, and lunge. fangs found their mark this time, and one abrupt braking later she was dispatching the creature with a swift sideways trash, not fast enough to cut off a screech.

The sylph's amount of spare time has vastly decreased since coming back to Teekon. Between gathering herbs, hunting, excercising her legs, spending time with Kavik and at times @Lily or @Lanawyn; the Caretaker has slacked on checking the conditions of the borders.

They are in fact open - a fact that makes the skittish girl nervous and even more so with Queenie's pups on the way.

Liri dedicates the afternoon to spending it in the heat, straggling though not so much as she once had. There's not much that puts her on edge, no sign of malevolent wrong-doers or thieves. Now and again the nymph leaves claw marks on this tree or another not unlike a bear.

But this changes rather unexpectedly.

With alarm, the healer can do little more than watch as a frightened rabbit - it must be petrified to run right into the territory of a large pack - followed by a smudge of smoky wolf.

Liri's first thought is to react offensively: to snarl and snap and attack. But this is not Blackfoot Forest; it's not hers to decide who can tread here.

So instead, Liri keeps a wary gaze on the stranger and waits for reinforcements.

While the borders were technically open, Alarian kept a close eye on them; despite what anyone else thought, border patrol was made even more important by the Sanctuary's border policy. They needed to keep an eye out for those who needed them— and for those who were there to cause trouble.
Another unexpected guest had wandered in today, it seemed. The Governor was in no hurry as he approached, glancing from Liri to the stranger who seemed to have been hunting. He did howl for @Delight, though, sick of handling these things on his own. Alarian moved past Liri, glancing at her with a single nod of acknowledgement and heading straight for the unfamiliar wolf. Hey, He called as he approached. You know you're in pack territory, right?

she is entirely unaware of her audience, and instead of doing the relatively smart thing (which is probably to get the hell out of dodge) Maple tears into the rabbit, making fast work of most of it and sating the insufferable void in her stomach. and then someone is speaking, and she squints up at whoever just disrupted her meal.

some dude, but chill; still, she might have prefered a neutral greeting or a straight up attack. "yeah." she offers, straightening and finding comfort in the fact that she could definitely crush this dude. not that she wanted to, or would, but still. "it didn't care much, though." a rough gesture at the carcass. she doesn't want to be here, she just is.

Alarian is the one to find them, as if he can sniff out trouble, and Liri is secretly relieved to have him there. (The healer is definitely not up to a fight.)

She returns his nod, falling in line behind him silently. For a moment, the fae feels an odd displacement. A mere Caretaker has no business intercepting those that cross but she stays put - uneasily - in case the Governor does need her.

Liri can feel a twitch in her lip as she struggles to keep from curling it with aggression. She dislikes this girl. Everything about her screams disrespect; Liri longs to let loose the snarl building in her chest and chase the stranger across the boarder back to wherever she came from.

This whole situation feels ridiculous. Yes, they're a sanctuary - the Sanctuary - but sanctuaries are meant to be safe. This whole open boarder feels like folly when smart asses are allowed to walk in and hunt right on their threshold.
"i'll keep you here when I lose my mind."

oh right borders -- in his defense he's got a heavily pregnant friend to deal with at the moment. still, alarian's call summons him quickly, arriving on the scene harried and tense. he takes in it: alarian, liri, and a strange girl with blood on her mouth -- oh a rabbit, eating a rabbit, okay. slightly less dangerous but still kinda rude.

habitually he pulls himself up to his full height, eyes narrowing as he steps up besides alarian in a silent display of support. (or as much a display of support as the wisp of a thing can provide, honestly.) he doesn't know much about bracken's open border, thing, but he expects at least some decorum, honestly.
but we were worried that you'd fallen in the river, or worse
but then you sent us back a letter, it said in capital letters

Alarian was eyeing the stranger with distaste, trying to decide whether to throw her out or not, when Delight showed up. His ear flicked, and he cast a grateful glance at the Chancellor before turning his attention back to the stranger.
Well, He said after a long moment, realizing as he spoke (definitely a little too late) how short his fuse was today. If you're looking to get torn apart, you're about to be disappointed; this is a Sanctuary, we're not really about that. And if you're just that stupid, well— sorry, we're full. Was that too mean? Probably. Alarian didn't dare look at Delight or Liri now; all he could think was that he had been spending way too much time with Eris.
