All Welcome
bebé thread? @Tux @Silkie @Bat come hang w oncle étoille

Time goes by so quickly -- the children have grown considerably, still tiny, strange things, but turning into tiny strange things with voices, with more complex wants and interests. Sometimes Étoille feels guilty for his interest in them -- they aren't really his (and he doesn't mind that), and Furi's absence still weighs on him.

But he doesn't exactly have much else to busy himself with, beyond occasionally bringing some food to the cache or to Wildfire, and truthfully he's finding he just enjoys the company of children. It started with Furi, and continued with the children of Blackfeather, who he still wonders about from time to time.

In any case. Today he has taken up a space near the den as usual, poking his head in to see if Wildfire will allow them to spend a little time outside in the grassy space just adjacent (and offering to let her take a break if she needs, of course.)

In her tireless effort to be the first and best at all times, @Kiwi immediately darted out of the den to apprehend their present visitor. In her haste, her tail smacked across her sleeping sister's forehead. Bat roused with an indignant snort. Looking around blearily, the child only sat up and trudged out of the log in order to take a leak. She intended to head right back inside, though the sight of Kiwi batting at Étoille woke her up a little.

Shaking her bum (to get rid of any spare droplets, of course), Bat stood upright and padded leisurely over to the two. "'Ello," she said with an amiable twitch of her slate tail, suddenly dipping forward not to inspire play but to stretch her spine and yawn luxuriously. Straightening up again, she regarded Étoille and asked, "Who you a'gin?" His name, if she knew it, had slipped her mind.

Kiwi had indeed jumped at the chance, as usual, to prove she was the best of them at pretty much anything.  Obviously way better than dumb Bat or Tux.  And Silkie was Silkie.

"Tha's Tol,". She said, her high young voice already displaying the tone of 'duh, didn't you know this' because of course her incorrect name was right.  I have no idea if she knows this name for sure, but she thinks she does, and that was usually enough for Kiwi.  She took another swing after the pause, and released a small playful growl to accompany.

feel free to jump in if/whenever u want, tux/silkie~

Kiwi is the first to greet him, joined shortly by Bat. Her question does not phase him despite the many times he's prevented her from falling from the safety of the den. Children are.. small. And they do not always remember. But Kiwi haughtily answers before he can, and he smiles gently at the butchering of his name. "I am 'Tol," he agrees, adopting the nickname easily and meeting her tiny battering paws with a gentle nudge of his nose. "You are les petits, he tells them, a slightly teasing tone coloring his voice. He won't use choupinou again -- that is Furi -- but collectively he thinks of them this way: the little ones.

Before he could answer, Kiwi butted in and called him Tol. Bat should've been annoyed by her sister's haughtiness, yet that would require energy that the Goufa didn't feel like sparing. Besides, the name seemed right to her. When Tol confirmed, she offered up a slow smile.

"Laze petties?" Bat echoed ponderously. Well, he wasn't wrong: she was plenty lazy. Although certain her litter mate would interject, she asked, "Wha's a petty?"

There was a fine line between learning and knowing, but at this point, Kiwi was pretty far on the knowing side.  As she grew she'd care more about actually learning stuff, but for now, she figured most things she knew, and it didn't matter if she didn't, because she was probably right anyway.

She was a peach.  But she giggled when she called them the word, and it sounded close enough to pretty when Bat said it that she assumed that must be what it was.  "I's petty," she said, turning her attention from Etoille and jumping for her sibling's tail, aiming to chew on it.

Amused, he laughs gently, not bothering to correct either of their pronunciations. They definitely lack the attention span for a lesson proper-- although Étoille is certainly charmed by the idea of them picking up a little French (it's sentimental, you know). They probably will just through exposure. (He kind of hopes.)

To Bat's question he says, "little one," reaching to gently tap her on the head with his snout as Kiwi goes for her tail. Stifling another laugh he reaches out to nudge Kiwi away from the subject of her torment, prepared to accept whatever redirection/consequences might ensure.

Tol explained what the term meant. She had no idea she was simultaneously learning three languages at once; she was so young that she took them all to be part of the same lexicon. Bat did wonder why there were multiple terms for the same thing, though she wasn't interested enough to pursue it.

Anyway, Kiwi distracted her by latching onto her tail. The Goufa didn't react much, simply turning to face her sibling to say, "I'ma poop on ya'." Before Bat could make good on her promise, Tol nudged Kiwi aside, freeing the darker pup's tail.

It turned out that her threat wasn't a bluff. Right there in front of the two, Bat gathered her haunches and squatted, producing a big, smelly poo.

Kiwi wrinkled her nose as Bat took a shit, little paws scrabbling as she moved back.  "Eeeeeeew" she squealed, "Baaaaaat."

She dove for Tol's paws instead, burying her little nose in the adult's fur.

Ah. Étoille is unperturbed by Bat's... deposit, having spent the past few weeks watching them make all manner of messy bodily functions. Babies. "Perhaps we shall return to the den," he suggests gently as Kiwi buries herself in his paws, giving the top of her head a lick. He rises to his feet, nudging Kiwi back in the direction of the den before going to pick up Bat, suspecting she won't move unless he actively does so.

Kiwi's loud protest earned a little smirk from Bat even as she shook her bum (to get rid of any dingleberries this time), then straightened. She always felt better after a good bowel movement. It was tempting to seek some food to replace what she'd lost, though the Goufa was more interested in resuming her interrupted nap.

When Tol moved to scruff her, the Goufa went pliantly limp and allowed herself to be moved back into the den. As soon as he gently set her on the ground, Bat stretched out on her pale belly and let her chin drift down to perch atop her forelegs. She made a happy sighing noise before turning partially onto her side and curling somewhat, eyes closing. She would be asleep inside a minute, if it even took that long.

feel free to wrap or continue!

Kiwi sighed somewhat when Tol nudged her in the direction of the den, but once he picked up Bat, she scooted right along avidly after.  Maybe Bat had to be picked up like some kinda baby but nuh-uh, not Kiwi.  She was perfectly capable of goin wherever whenever.

While Bat settled in, Kiwi snatched a nearby stick she'd been gnawing on earlier and spun, waving it.  Hopefully Tol would grasp on as a game and tug... she wasn't ready for a nap quite yet.

slappin a fade on <3

Bat is easily returned but Kiwi seems to still have excess energy. Étoille is happy to indulge her, reaching down to take a gentle hold on the stick profferred. He allows her to tug him this way and that, offering enough resistance to be worthwhile as an adversary but ultimately letting the girl win, until she settles down enough that he feels free to take his leave, satisfied.
