All Welcome
@Aleks Sorry for the wait!
Foward dated to 6/27 and set directly after this thread.

They had traveled for most of the day. Taki hadn't stopped once, the only rest being the occasional slowing of her brisk pace to replenish her stamina. Impressively, the dark male at her side hadn't complained once; at least, not out loud, anyway.

When their paws finally touched the ice covered ground of the glacier, she slowed to a stop. Her pink tongue hung slightly from her mouth as she panted softly in response to the exertion of their journey. After taking a second to look around, she was sure this was the place. She turned her orange gaze to Aleks then and said, "This is the place." She couldn't contain her excitement at being here. She wanted to explore it a little before returning home. Plus, she supposed she should sleep a bit at some point before starting her journey back home. She would rest for few hours later once she had the chance to learn more about this place that already reminded her so much of the place she and her family had come from.

This place was rather nice. He had not been expecting it to be like this but he didn't complain. The coolness of the lands felt familiar in a way he dared not think of. Lucky for him, he was lured out of his thoughts by Takiyok's voice. His face tried to make a smile at her excitement but failed, hopefully it would at least be seen in his eyes.

Why don't we look around? Find a good place to settle down for a bit too. He was less worried about himself and more worried about her. If she had a journey to make back to where she came from then she would need to rest. Aleks would make sure there was a safe place to slumber. Even if it meant having to play the role of guardian. Himself? Well, he had plenty of time to recover from the journey so he could postpone rest.

Taki hadn't missed the excitement in the orange gaze of her traveling companion, even though he didn't seem to show it anywhere else; It still fed her own making her playfully stretch her front half before standing back up to give her coat an enthusiastic shake.

Aleks seemed to be on the same page because he suggested they look around before settling down.  She gave him a quick nod and started moving again. Not far from where they had been, there was a large lake. Remembering the pact she had made with herself earlier, she walked to the water's edge and bent down to drink; the water was ice cold like the the water in the river had been, and when it hit her empty stomach, it was an almost painful reminder that she hadn't eaten in at least a day. She had been too focused to mess with stopping and using energy to hunt. But now, she knew she couldn't push her body any further without sustenance.

"I need to eat soon," she said as she turned to Aleks after drinking her fill from the lake. Maybe he was hungry, too? They still had a few hours before nightfall, so maybe they could find something promising.

He followed her lead and when they came upon the lake, even the hearty male could not deny the thirst that had gripped him. It was with brief hesitation that he lapped up the cold water. His head lifted from the liquid at her voice, muzzle still dripping with droplets of water as he registered her words with a small nod.

Of course. We'll find something. The older male assured her before licking the water droplets off his muzzle. Aleks was unsure what they might find but if she was hungry, well, it was now his goal to find something for her to eat. Why he felt the need to provide for her was beyond him. Not realizing that perhaps it was a parental urge he had yet to shake from having his own children back home.

At his answer, Taki sat down on her haunches and took in their immediate surroundings. It seemed they were in luck because a there was a small wooded area on the other side of the lake. They could probably find something worth while in there. It would probably be something small, but that wouldn't be any different than what she had lived on for the last week. At this point, she would eat just about anything.

"What about in there," she said as she inclined her head towards the trees. She waited to head in that direction in case he had a better idea.

His orange gaze followed in the direction she had pointed. A forest area. Huh, this place just about had it all.

Aleks provided a gentle nod of his head. That should be fine. He rumbled in a whisper. The male snagged a few last laps at the cool water before he slowly began to move towards the trees. He had no interest in rushing off ahead unless that was what Takiyok wanted. Although he didn't imagine they would catch anything worthwhile by barging in.

Taki stood and trotted to Alek's side, matching his pace once she was next him. For a few minutes, she didn't say anything, content with silence and lost in the many thoughts going through her always busy mind. She felt a strange connection to this place, and she kept imagining her family here with her. She wondered if she could convince them to at least pay a visit here. And maybe never leave? She didn't know how, though; with the new pups, it would be hard for Shivali to travel for a while. She also knew she couldn't convince Sia to come back with her right now and leave the Shivali, Tahani, and the pups without their protection. It was hard enough to justify Taki leaving them at such a vulnerable time, and she had been gone for about a week now, so they had to be getting worried. She would need to think on it more, but knew she would have plenty of time to do that on her way home. She pushed the thought to the back of her mind to simmer for now.

The thought of going home brought with it a lot of mixed emotions for Taki. She missed her family and was excited to see how her nephew's and niece had grown. She was dreading returning home without Tomkin, though; not only would she still not where her littermate was or if he was even alive, but she didn't want to see the disappointment in Sia's eyes when she returned home empty-handed. Yet another thought to push away from the forefront of her mind; this time in avoidance of the feelings that came with it.

She needed to get out of her head. She turned to Aleks then, nothing in her expression hinting to the tumult currently inside her mind. "This would be a great place to live," she said with a forced smile, eager for a distraction.

They walked in silence for some time. He began to sniff at the air as they got closer to the forested area. Perhaps he would be able to pick something up before they entered. There was the possibility that some creature had come for a drink as well before scurrying back to safety. Although he found nothing so far and the voice of Takiyok drew his attention back on her.

He knew nothing of the thoughts that tumbled about in her head and could only figure that perhaps she was making polite small talk to help pass the time. Agreed. I might stay here for a bit. He mused aloud. It wasn't like he had anywhere else to go or anything else to do.

Why not stay in an enjoyable part of these lands for the foreseeable future?

Aleks seemed to be enjoying it here as much as she did. She wondered to herself if he would keep watch over this place until she returned with her family. And she was returning with them; she had made up her mind on that at some point since arriving here. She didn't think she could ask that of him, though. They were still practically strangers. Maybe she would revisit that later before she left. Now, they needed to hunt.

As they entered the forest, she picked up the scents of a few small creatures. She was growing tired of rabbits, but would eat it if that's all they could fine. Her attention was drawn to a rustling sound in the distance. Ears perked, she froze and looked in the direction of the sound. Soon, she saw a small group of pheasants moving about the forest floor. They weren't the most substantial meal, but they smelled good. Licking her lips at the scent, she turned back to Aleks and raised an eyebrow, tilting her head in the direction of the birds as if to ask if he was interested in taking a couple down. If he had a better idea, she'd gladly listen, the birds were just the first thing she noticed.
