All Welcome
Eleuthera didn’t really know why they had moved. Well, Momma Olive and Momma Seabreeze had explained it to them a couple different times, and she had plenty of time to mull it over as she was being carried — embarrassingly enough — from destination to destination, but Leu had come to the conclusion that she didn’t get it, nor did she like it! Sunspire had been home, the only home she had ever known, and the more she thought about it, the more she was loathe to leave it.

@Ibis and @Okeanos, for all she knew, were her siblings. @Séamus was annoying but kind of funny, she guessed. Rannoch, who she had understood to be her Mommas' boss, had kids too! They had been pretty young, but some of the boys had been pretty cute and were fun to play with, at least. She did miss Oaxaca, but honestly, it had been a long time ago and she didn’t really think about him any more. Leu just wished Momma Olive would stop talking about him, because it always made everyone super sad and that sucks

Well, whatever. Maybe this was her new lot in life, but it didn’t mean she would have to like it. So, instead she pouted her best little girl frown and planted her little butt down with an audible harumph and proceeded to sulk.

This place wasn't at all like the mountain. It smelled different, it looked different, it felt different — she wondered if there would be children here to play with or, maybe Rannoch and the others would be following after them? So far it seemed like her mama was content in this new place, but Ibis did not like change so much. Moving dens had been hard on her but this was like leaving her home planet and touching down on a strange new world that was lightyears away from where she was supposed to be.

It wasn't like this place wasn't beautiful in its own way. It was lovely, and the people welcomed the little family quickly enough, but Ibis wasn't doing well with the adjustment. She stuck close with @Okeanos or found comfort in one of the other familiar children that had travelled with them. Today she was sulking in much the same manner as young Eleuthera. The little one didn't think about singing any songs, and had barely said a word since their arrival, but upon spotting Leu off on her own she wandered over and carefully plopped down beside her.

They shared a silence for a few minutes, which was record-breaking considering how much of a chatterbox Ibis typically was; even in her "sad mode" she wasn't comfortable with stillness. Eventually she murmured, I miss my dah, as a form of greeting or maybe, to offer a point of commiseration.

there were children.

wait.  scratch that.  back up a bit.  mama was gone.  more or less that was nothing new although it seemed as if this time she might actually not come back.  somehow, like some people know they won't make it to fifty because something will either kill them or they'll end it themselves, she knew that mama leaving was inevitable.

but now she had really done it.  solomon had adjusted the best she could, and now things were changing again.  well.

she hides behind a tree or bush, blended with the dirt, as she stares at the other girls and watches them interact with a dusky, scrutinizing eye.

In her few moments alone, Eleuthera did several things. She huffed, then she puffed, then she squeezed her eyes really tight and contorted her vocal cords into a configuration that might produce crying and tears, but she received neither. It was not too long ago that she could cry on cue, and get whatever she wanted — whether it be attention, an adventure, or a teat in her mouth — but, as she aged, such abilities began to escape her. She was learning control over her reactions, however slight, and that frustrations didn’t automatically need wailing in order to be validated. Wouldn’t her mommas be proud?

Still, the hurt of having to leave the mountain she loved was felt very keenly. So, when Ibis came up and situated herself right next to the lilac pup, Eleuthera was grateful. But how to express it to a pup who was similarly as sad?

Eleuthera narrowed her gaze somewhat, turning to look at her sister.
“Yeah, well, at least you got one,” she stated with a meaning that was not her intention. Similar to her inability to understand why the entire family had been uprooted, Eleuthera did not understand [or even try to understand] her lack of a father. Terance’s presence in her siblings’ lives had never bothered her too much [because what was their was also hers, and vice versa] and, almost immediately, Leu regretted her vindictive words. It wasn’t what she felt, truly. The lilac girl bit her lip in a grimace. “Um, I mean,” she faltered. “It’s not so bad when you got two mommas, ‘stead of one,” she said and offered Ibis and bump on the shoulder. The other girl, who was hidden, remained unnoticed.
