@Lilia; for the tongue over teeth db quest.

wintersbane isn't sure what draws him to this place, these burnt sentinels still bearing the blackened scars of the war they endured and lost with mother nature. pale ash and blackened corpses of once proud conifers. some spindly limbs remain on some and others are fallen, stumps splintered. snow has fallen but even in the pristine blanket the covers it ...it is a mere mask. the sorrow of this place is great and it resounds within him like the pulse of a second, barely thrumming heartbeat. he does not know it is kindred spirit; a connection with the eternal spirit of lotte ansbjørn — his mother — that lures him here. he seeks to bring forth a legacy for her, to honor her through his children and keep her alive in the stories he will tell them of her and his searching has brought him to the place where he began. not his actual conception but it was the very fire that swallowed this woodland in flame and smoke — almost stealing lotte's life away in the process — that had finally drawn arturo and lotte together.

he does not know this though. he feels a sorrow in his bones that he cannot place as he wanders through the snow knowing in a nagging and indirect way in the restlessness of his paws that he is connected to it. somehow.

❛hmm,❜

his steps falter as he gives pause, the hairs at his nape rising as a shiver slithers down his spine. the voice of the night mother is a rarity but one that he cherishes. he does not ask for her to speak to him — he is humbly content with what the webweaver offers him — so when she does he is inclined to listen. ...but beyond her contemplative hum she is quiet, though he feels her presence in the air around him, invisible to his eye. wintersbane pushes forward, heading towards the heart of the scarred territory with no intention other than to see if the charred tree corpses have anything to offer him.
