Please let @Mou post first :) then AW but tags for @Kove and @Relmyna maybe even @Maegi?

He had silently followed all the way into the dark woods. Something about being in the covered place made him feel better, less exposed than the meadow. While he had never been exactly tense he seemed to relax a bit more upon their entrance. Which might have been foolish considering he was on the borders of a pack. A loner should have never been so relaxed in such circumstances.

He supposed he could thank the mute male for such comforts though. It was always helpful to meet someone prior to showing up.

Pale green eyes looked around as he soaked up every little detail he could. Should I call? The only other option was the mute going to get them. Kalganov had a feeling that would be a much more time consuming option.

Returning to the woods wasn't difficult, although from time to time Mou felt the familiar tingling in his lower back that indicated he was straining himself. He did not want to appear weak before this hearty wolf that trailed him, even if that was a bit of a redundant thought. It took a little longer than he wanted to find the pack's thoroughly marked border but once he did, he paused to wait for his companion.

Should I call? The man's voice carried, and Mou realized he couldn't exactly summon anyone. He gave a little nod of his chin and then took a few steps over the invisible line marking where the Blackfeathers took up residence.

No doubt Maegi would be waiting for him; perhaps he did not need to call in that case — but it was best to be certain. Mou lingered beneath a sprawling old oak tree, the shadows blanketing everything with a dim grey that the boy found, ultimately, to be a great comfort.

She worried over Mou, though she would never tell him that, for fear he found her too overbearing. Once he had left, she had followed his trail, staying to the outskirts of the territory until he returned. Paced 'round, doing almost a complete circle of the woods. Finally, she saw his pale form emerge in the distance--and he was not alone.

The wraith peered from the trees. Upon closer inspection, she recognized the man--it was the stranger from the other day, the one from the mountain. She cocked her head, slipping out when he had spoken some words she hadn't quite picked up. She padded towards Mou and butted her nose gently under his chin, hoping he wasn't embarrassed that she had lingered here, waiting for him, like he was her child rather than her friend.

Her bicolored eyes flashed back and forth between the two, finally resting on Mou, a clear question in her gaze. Why is he here? There was naught but a glint of recognition for Kalganov; she still had her reservations about the man.

Just for visibility--please skip me unless directly addressed.

He was about to call when a familiar form appeared. Nothing was said to him and he briefly scanned over her face. Little to no recognition for him. It's good to see you again too. He cooed softly, not an ounce of malice or even a hint of teasing in his voice for once. Kalganov had perhaps matured some during his time away from these lands.

He was kind enough to bring me back here. He motioned towards the scarred male with the faint signs of a smile on his lips. It was important to note that Kalganov never fully smiled. For anyone. I wanted to see if there was room for another member.

It was moments before he was swept up by Maegi's presence, and he let himself be carried away by it. Mou might've found comfort in the shadowed woodland but he found more of it in Maegi, welcoming her attention and her affection openly. Soon enough she caught sight of the other man and Mou thought it odd that she be so careful; then again, Blackfeather was a place ripe with secrets. Maybe Mou had done something wrong in bringing this stranger back with him.

When Kalganov spoke, it surprised Mou to learn that they knew one another. He became a bit apprehensive after that. He looked from pale wolf to pale wolf for any telltale signals — dislike, aggression, or anything to indicate they were not friends, but could only see caution. The boy huffed.

I wanted to see if there was room for another member. The man spoke, and it was this which prompted Mou to look at Maegi, fully focused. His dark ears swivelled atop his head, his features taking on an expression of great interest, and he boofed a soft noise to her as if to say, well?

an influx of joiners since maegi's return, or perhaps it only seemed that way. at any rate, relmyna was grateful to the mother for having guided their steps to blackfeather. after checking in on astara, relmyna found her way to a patrol along the border. these days, snow had begun to fall, harbinger of the wintertime ahead; her mind began to fill with thoughts of how the caches must be stocked with last autumn kills.
the sound of voices ahead caught the listener's interest, notably the low roll of a masculine tonality. she wasted little time moving into eyeshot, her gaze curious but guarded. maegi and mou — relmyna had not yet discovered what bonded them, and suspicion flared unfairly in her soul. yet she kept this buried, glancing between the trio with a firm stance's quiet request for explanation.

It wasn't personal, her ignorance. She only really had eyes for Mou, now, mind only on his safety. His gaze echoed Kalganov's request, and Maegi shrugged, jerking her chin back at the trees. Not my call, she suggested silently, looking back at Mou. In her personal opinion, the woods could use more wolves to bolster their ranks, but--

Then Relmyna was there, quietly questioning. This wasn't her recruit, nor her place to speak; she stepped closer to Mou, nodding at Kalganov. His move, now. He could explain much better than she could what exactly he brought to the borders, in terms of ability. . .and loyalty.

Well, well, well. Weren't they a talkative bunch? Kalganov wasn't that bothered by it but he would be honest with himself and say it rubbed him a bit awkwardly. Not wrong just...yeah, awkward. The third party had a bit of a firmer stance. Kalganov would hope that this one could actually answer his question.

I wish to join, if you have room for more members. He admitted for what felt like the hundredth time that day. I personally see myself as a bit of a scout. A stalker really but he didn't want to openly admit such a thing. If you are in need of one. Of course, I don't mind adapting to something else.

He thought that once Maegi saw the stranger, saw his health and his youth and his strength, he would be welcome. They were a family of broken things — that was an unavoidable fact — but they could be a home to more than that. It wasn't up to her, though. She gave him that indication and he brushed his snout through the fur of her shoulder, a brief caress, and then turned in search of Relmyna.

She had arrived swiftly, silently, but Maegi had motioned to her and so Mou's attention drifted; now he looked at her with an expression he didn't often carry: confidence, trust, and the raise of his curious brows as if to say, can he stay? The stranger was already explaining himself and if need be, Mou would find a way to convince them all it was worth it.

his eyes were pale and haunted jade in the gloom of the wood; relmyna found their colour entrancing, and wondered by where he had blessed with such. yet it was not the task at hand for such considerations. she lay her eyes upon his withers, his flank; she read what outline of the man she might. adaptation is often required of those who join us, came her noiseless answer, slow that he might see her words. these days relmyna did not attempt to hide the terrible scarring of her lips, and made no adjustment now.
mou was given a gentle, knowing smile; blackfeather had so quickly become his home that the listener was beginning to recall no time before his arrival among them. what is your name? she inquired, gaze returning to the stranger.

Maegi admired the confidence and surety in Mou's gaze; he was beginning to grow a fire she hadn't seen from him before. It seemed the woods were bringing out the best in him, and she gazed fondly upon her friend, only half-listening to the conversation between Kalganov and Relmyna. Well. . .half a conversation. She wasn't actively reading the Listener's lips, so she lost some of it, naturally.

Instead, she flicked her tail against Mou's flank in a show of affection, smiling over at him. The two of them had brought two more wolves to Blackfeather's ranks--at least they were making themselves useful. Being useful was one thing she truly needed from life.

Her words were silent but understood nonetheless. Well, maybe not clearly but he also didn't fail to grasp the important words. Adaption. His head nodded softly. He could do that with easy. Flowing and adjusting like a river had been his whole life. He had always fit himself into a situation the best he could. If that was what they wanted then that was what he could give.

Kalganov. He introduced shortly, not feeling the need to tack on anything extra that would likely be useless. Not that he had anything extra really. He was merely a rogue after all.

Kalganov. It was too much for him to say aloud, but at least they knew the name of their new recruit. Mou wasn't certain yet if the pale wolf would become one of them, but he was hopeful, and his expression said as much to Relmyna should she look his way. He felt Maegi's batting tail and turned to look at her fondly, resisting the sudden urge to reach for her and nibble at her cheek fur (not here, in public!) but only barely.

last post for me! also small PP of kalganov; lmk if it's not okay <3

that was the end of it. welcome, kalganov, relmyna murmured, granting him a warm look that extended to mou and to maegi. i am relmyna, blackfeather's listener. pausing here to exchange breath with the new joiner, brushing his shoulder with her scent so that he would be one of theirs henceforth, she stepped back. please show him the wood, she inquired of the pale scarred pair, glowing with some ethereal light despite their wounds —  somehow they were counterparts of one another, and it was a sight that contented the listener.
she moved noiselessly into the wood and was departed, thankful for another hale body to guard their ranks.
