It was early morning, and Steph sat beside one of the stones in Stone Circle, her gaze watching the snow and water fall from the clouds above. Some had started to blanket the ground, but it wasn't much. Even so, it was a sure sign that winter was just around the corner.

Her ears swiveled as a bison began bellowing in the field below. She ignored it since it was far enough away not to be a danger to her. Since speaking with @Greyback, she had abandoned her efforts to become a counselor for Easthollow. It was obvious to Steph that it simply didn't suit her. But, she also knew she would need to find something that did.

Today, Keen is plagued by a familiar demon — boredom. It strikes at her in waves as she settles from each new discovery, nagging and prickling until she is forced to open her eyes to the world in a new way, to find some new hidden wonder. Most days, she's able to take this process in stride — but today; oh, today, she's grumpy about it.
She wanders the territory thinking things like 'why does nothing fun ever happen here?' and 'why is my family so boring and lazy? Whether these things are true or not is another matter entirely — but not one she is willing to debate now. Her mood is so sour, in fact, that she doesn't notice the bellowing of bison or the presence of her older sister until she nearly smacks into her. The chocolate-furred girl stumbles back several steps when she finally registers Steph's presence, eyes wide and fur fluffed. Almost immediately, her limbs begin to tremble a little, but she manages to resist the urge to dart in the opposite direction. For some reason, she can't think at all — nor can she name the reason for her sudden, silent terror.

Steph was so lost in her thought that she didn't hear her younger sister approach. When she finally realized she was there, it looked like Keen had been just as oblivious. Though Steph's expression showed happiness at seeing her sister, Keen's expression was almost fearful. Steph stood and faced her. Keen? Are you alright? she asked, a little worried.

Her head turned to gaze being her, thinking there may have been something there that had frightened the other girl. But, no, there was nothing. She turned her eyes back to Keen, waiting to see if she would tell Steph what was wrong.

She swallows hard as Steph notices her, still trying to calm herself down. She's not sure what's wrong — which makes it a lot more stressful, actually. She tries to answer her question, but finds she can't form any words. After a moment, she gives up and nods slowly, then flops gracelessly into a sitting position, ears pinned to her skull. Her heart is racing as if she's just run across the territory, making it near impossible to think properly. Her mind is stuck on repeat; all she can do is insist to herself that nothing is wrong and that this is stupid.
