Blacktail Deer Plateau why do people keep leaving?

All Welcome
@Krarius OR @Ruenna OR @Issun -- I'm tagging all the people I haven't had a thread with yet. Whoever answers first gets it. Only one person in the thread, please!

Grezig was pissed. The only available male she knew (Issun didn’t count because she hadn’t gotten to know him yet) that could have possibly given her children in the spring had disappeared—besides Kavik. Where the hell had Corvus gone? Grezig was angry that evening, stomping around, doing her patrol as usual, but which much more… vigor… than normal. She hoped he was hurt or dead and that he had not abandoned them—like everyone else. Thorleif (good riddance), Yizur (that one still stung). Why did no one stay? Did they hate it here? No. That could not be it. They were simply… deserters. Yes. But that made it no better.

Grezig forced herself to take deep breaths, thinking of those who did stay. Liri and Kavik were as solid and accountable as ever. Elixir, too. Minori, though she’d been quiet for some time. Ruenna, the new girl. Siqsa was new, too. And the boy. The boy remained, and the longer he did, the more surprised Grezig was. She half expected him to disappear any day, like the others. She took another deep breath and pushed the negativity away. It did not help. It never helped. She brought her analytical mind back and breathed, and went on patrol.

Krarius had come to the conclusion that he should patrol more now that he was settled in. It would do him no good to be unfamiliar with the place he was going to call home. His earthy form weaved through the territory of Blacktail Deer Plateau as his baby blue eyes took in everything. Each detail still shocked him and let him breathless. Beauty was endless here. In the landscape and the wolves who inhabited these lands.

Usually his heart hammered in his chest when the beauty was present, presented in front of his blue eyes. Yet there was a sound that resembled...stomping? A prickly nervous feeling built up in the pit of his stomach but he followed after the sound. By scent alone he knew they were part of the Plateau group.

Softly he decided to call out. A-are you o-okay?

Grezig’s ears swiveled along her head when she heard approaching pawsteps. She turned to look over her shoulder and did not immediately recognize the male, which put her on edge. He seemed completely at ease being there—well, he was stuttering, so not completely at ease, but he at least seemed like he was supposed to be there. She breathed in his scent from where she stood and caught Kavik on him. That was enough for her. “You new?” she asked, in her brisk way. “I’m… fine,” she added, hesitating over the word choice. “Frustrated, is all. But it is none of your concern.”

She paused, studying him for a moment. “I am Grezig, Beta of the Plateau.” She dipped her head in greeting, trying to put his stuttering to rest and show that she wouldn’t bite his face off. “You are?”

Y-yes. He answered meekly at her quick worded question. His face felt hot at her answer. Krarius has not meant to intrude upon her frustrations. Yet he struggled to form words. Her tone was so serious and stiff, he felt out of place.

His tail swayed softly at her introduction. Krarius. He managed to get out his name without a stutter granted that was unlikely to last for long. K-Kavik mentioned you. It was a small observation but he had hopes it would steer the conversation into some place more positive.

Grezig found herself annoyed at the male’s stuttering, as if he were a pup. But he was no pup. They seemed to be around the same age. Yet, Grezig knew somewhere in the back of her head that she often acted older than she was—a result of her upbringing. She tried to ignore his stuttering and simply focus on what he was saying. He’d said Kavik had mentioned her. A small flutter in her chest occurred at this, but she ignored it. “Did he?” she asked, one eyebrow raising in curiosity. “What did he say?” She tried not to care about such things, but with Kavik, all things were different.

H-he just told m-me your name. Said y-you were the Beta here. It had not been much information but it was enough basic information for Krarius to go off of in a case like this. Yet he felt dumb bringing it up. Why had he even brought it up if it was nothing worth sharing? Hopefully he had not got their hopes up.

His tail lazily swayed between his heels as he looked towards the ground looking for something to say. C-can I help you with a-any duties? He asked in hopes it would take the attention off of him and his poor conversational skills.

Apologies for shitty late reply. My excuse: college classes/homework/no free time.

Grezig couldn’t help feeling disappointed at Kavik’s few words about her. Surely he could have deigned to give her some kind of actual compliment. Oh well. She wasn’t even sure why such a thing bothered her to begin with. Odd.

The boy’s stuttering was beginning to annoy her. Even Elixir, who sometimes seemed hard on herself, did not stumble through her words like this wolf. She had half a mind to snap at him, tell him to grow a pair or learn to speak properly, but she swallowed the anger. It was not necessary and she wasn’t even sure why it was there at all. Perhaps she needed some exercise.

Well, that was an idea.

“Do you know how to fight? Or hunt?”

Exiting this. HMU for a new thread if you want! Sorry for the slow replies! <3

The boy said nothing, though. Perhaps he was so nervous that he simply clammed up. Grezig couldn't know. But she was tired of dealing with his stuttering. With a snort, she turned and marched away to do something better with her time.

[Exit.]
